Usually this is a reliable place for a great steak dinner however I must say it was a poor experience on New Year’s Eve, we had reservations at 5:30 and were there until 8:30 due to poor service. The ribeye was poor quality very tough and most likely a mediocre sirloin. With a crowd waiting I am not sure why it took almost 50 minutes to place our order. Lastly the brownie sundae had a huge hair in it which after complaining twice it was taken off the bill.

We went to the Beverly Depot Restaurant for a Thanksgiving dinner their were 5 of us our reservation was for 3:15 P.M. we got there at 3:00 P.M. we actually got right in and was seated last year we had to wait an additional 20 minutes. the waitress took our orders for drinks 1 diet coke, 3 cokes, and 1 «drink» came back 10 minutes later we decided on 5 traditional dinners very simple …20 minutes goes by 30 minutes goes by 40 minutes goes by were thinking were is our food? i tracked down one of the waiters who was working in our area along with the waitress i explained we have been waiting for 40 minutes for our food… the waiter came back and explained the cooks said they never got the«ticket» Ten minutes later we got our food but during the 40 minutes we waited they never once said would you like a refill on your cokes? i had to approach her to ask for 2 refills. The waiter said because we had to wait forty minutes for the food he would not charge for the drinks he also said we would not have to pay for desert … the tough part was you see people come into the restaurant after you then they order, eat and then leave and you haven’t even got your meal yet! the place wasn’t packed and you see the waiter and waitress leaning against a wall and just talking they knew we were a little upset about the situation and hungry either one of them could have come over to our table and said can we get anybody a refill? but never did…

Once again the Beverly Depot hits it out of the park. Went there with my boyfriend last night and got the lobster casserole and the crab stuffed haddock… AMAZING! Had the calamari as an appetizer AND obviously got the salad bar so we weren’t able to get dessert we were so full.(We wish we weren’t though! We saw an apple crisp come out that looked so good!) This place has a great atmosphere, great prices, it’s a plus that you don’t pay extra for the sides like a lot of upscale steak places, and it just feels like you’re at home in front of the fire place. A must try if you are in the area or coming through on the train.

Did my Unilocal check in and received a free glass of wine. The bacon wrapped scallops were tasty, but My stake was over cooked. My husband enjoyed s salad bar without issue.

Great ambience with high ceilings, painted windows, and the commuter rail running outside. We enjoyed the farm fresh salad bar with yummy cheese and bread. Mixed reviews for the Cajun chicken over pasta though since the portion of meat was dainty. One of our steaks was cooked medium well when medium rare was preferred. The service was very friendly but confusing at times because you are assigned multiple wait staff throughout your meal. The menu is very traditional American and caters towards seafood and steak, so expect premium prices.

Going here will make you’ll young again. That’s because everyone else there is not so young. and I’m no spring chicken myself. I mean, I’m not retired or in a walker or anything, but born at the tail end of the baby boom. So most of the folks there were from the greatest generation. The food was also from the greatest generation. Traditional American. The kind of food that won WWII. I forgot what I had, but I’m sure it was just fine.

I have been going here since I was a little kid, it is my parents favorite place, and now one of mine! The salad bar is FANTASTIC and I have never had better French onion soup. Make sure to save room for a dessert coffee, the cinnamon sugar rim, and thick whipped cream is incredible.

Went there Sat night and had a hugely disappointing experience from beginning to end. The service sucked and food was just OK. So many servers standing around doing nothing and the restaurant was empty for the most part. I tried to make eye contact to place food orders and was not noticed at all(servers too busy chatting). Finally, when one server came over I had to tell server there was a birthday; they didn’t even ask… I’ve been coming here for years and it usually was the first thing out of their mouths. Also, NO server came to table to ask if our meal was cooked to our liking. Well, the $ 30 filet wasn’t and when it came back it didn’t look or taste much better. I counted 5 different servers that came to our table but not at a time when we needed service. I guess the red flag came early on when we were walking towards the restaurant to go in and a woman waiting for the train asked us for money so she could get on it. We won’t be going back to the Depot to celebrate a birthday or any other reason. This place has gone way down hill since last year at this time. Such a shame as we always enjoyed our experience at Depot in the past.

As always the food was excellent. The service was good this time and I am looking forward to dining there again.

I don’t really know what happened to this place. I’ve been going to this restaurant for years and just over the last couple of years, it has gone way downhill. I went twice in 2014 and once in 2015 and each time it was really dirty and had a depressing atmosphere. The prices have skyrocketed(which is usually a sign of a struggling well known business trying to make a profit), and the food quality has gone way down. It’s really sad. I’d be suprised if they’re still in business a year from now unless they turn things around. There are much better restaurants in the area that are half the price, cleaner, and with a more modern atmosphere.

Where ever I travel for work, I always want to support the ‘Mom and Pop’ places. Tonight I had clients attending an event up in Beverly. I called the local fire department, those guys always know the ‘go to’ places in town, and they mentioned Beverly Depot. I took a look online at their menu and wanted to give it a try. I sat on the pub side and was quickly greeted by Lisa and I asked about the place and what she liked. She told me a little bit about the history of the place and said you catch go wrong with the crab cakes and prime rib. Perfect, exactly what I was thinking as well. Both were delicious as well as the Raspberry cheesecake. I never had to ask for a refill of the soda, as I was on the clock, and a young gentleman would remove dishes one I was finished. The servers seemed to work very well as a team which is the way I feel it should be. The place was starting to get pretty busy do to the big horse race on TV but that didn’t stop Lisa from making sure all her guests were being taken care of even though she had to bob and weave through the crowd. If you visit The Beverly Depot, I suggest seeing if Lisa is available, although all the servers seem to be first class.

This is hands down my favorite restaurant in the Northshore. I’ve been going to the Beverly Depot for years and it’s still fantastic! The salad bar is solid and always fresh. My favorite things are the baked stuffed shrimp entrée, garlic smashed potatoes, bernaise sauce, and the deep fried ice cream is a must for dessert – either flavor is great.

This is my first trip back since the last fiasco in the previous review I gave. My buddy and I were in the Beverly area, and were looking for a place to hit. Everything was booked solid, so reluctantly, I mentioned the Depot. It was almost full, but we got in. I was surprised to see some items like rack of lamb back on the menu, where it was gone for a while. I ordered the rack of lamb medium rare, but got it delivered medium well. I do have to say it was tender and good, so I didn’t sent it back. My buddy says his was good as well. But his wasn’t cooked the way he wanted it. I do think there is a disconnect between what is ordered and what is cooked, because this has happened quite a bit in my travels there. Maybe all the old people like their meat well done, but a lot of others don’t. The service was OK, although some of the 10 servers we dealt with should have been working at a truck stop diner. They were nice, but a little rough around the edges for a nice restaurant. There was also a few absent minded episodes where they forgot stuff and we had to ask a few times.

After not being to the Beverly depot for about a year, my husband and I and 4 of our friends decided to give it a try on a Saturday night. We should have known when we walked in and it was not even a quarter filled that there was a problem. The waitress although pleasant was not very attentive. When she did come to the table she would check in with one person and then leave. We were left with empty drink glasses most of the night. The prices have certainly gone up… which would be fine if the food was good which it wasn’t. First of all two of the 6 dinners where wrong, and the grilled chix in the grilled chix w/linquine was terrible and so overcooked it was inedible. All the steaks were tough and had no flavor… you can get a better steak at the anchor for 8.95 $. The waitress then spilled melted butter all over one of our party and just said sorry and that was it. It wasn’t until we complained to the manager did we get any response. He said he knew about the chic and that two of meals were not right but didn’t know about the butter. He replied what do you want me to do. He did end up taking off three of the meals and offered us complimentary coffee And dessert which we declined, but he never came to the table and apologized. He was too busy laughing and joking with friends it was a very disappointing experience. We will not be going back anytime soon!

This is my absolute favorite restaurant. Don’t believe the bad reviews. Probably from those that complain everwhere they dine. The salad bar is the best. The steaks are absolutely awesome. The best cream of mushroom soup on the planet and the best baked stuffed shrimp. You will not leave this restaurant with an empty stomach. Portions are perfect. Prices are no different than your finest Boston steakhouse. You get what you pay for. If you want food that is a little less expensive, then go to the Outback.

We went there to celebrate my sister in laws 50th birthday. There was twelve of us but the place was hardly filled at all(Wed. Eve.6:PM) The food was fair to mediocre but the place itself was dusty and sticky. The waitstaff were unhappy when you could find them. My family was very dissatisfied with the experience. My father in law couldn’t imagine what it would have been like if it was actually busy! Do not recommend.

The Depot leaves me a little disappointed. I feel like this place isn’t as good as it used to be a few years ago. The menu may seem classic to some. To others the menu will seem out dated. The old fashioned interior and decoration is truly charming and endearing. But an old fashioned menu is unappealing. They specialize in steak, yet they can’t always get it right. Something about this restaurant feels special however. The location is cool. Many families come here for special occasions. The salad bar is the best salad bar I’ve ever seen.

Desperately in need of an overhaul. This restaurant’s menu hasn’t changed in the 14 years I’ve lived here. It’s be fine if the food was good. Mediocre. Even the salad bar doesn’t impress anymore.

A decent meal, not-so-great service and cool atmosphere. The highlight was the salad bar! Most people in our party enjoyed their meals, but no one was raving. I had steak, which was good, just not great. Salad bar is awesome! They have all fresh, diverse ingredients with fresh bread and cheese. The service is odd. Our server didn’t seem to care about providing good service and was inconsistent with timing. He had no personality at all. The restaurant is inside the old train station, which is a cool, novelty thing. It’s dark, but a nice atmosphere. It’s a large dining room(can’t speak to the tavern side) so I’m sure if it was busy(only a few parties the night we dined) it could get noisy, but that night was fairly quiet.

Haven’t been to he Depot since I mode to Beverly 8 years ago. Stopped in last night after I got off the train from the Bs game. Sat at the bar and had an absolute perfect blue cheese burger and fries with a few glasses of wine. Honestly, one of the most delicious burgers I’ve had in some time and, certainly, the best in the area. Will be back for sure!
