Jerry’s Comics doesn’t have a website or a Facebook page. The phone number listed here is wrong. When you call 411, you can’t get a phone number that way either. Their hours aren’t posted anywhere online. I went there today, because I went here a few years ago and liked the place. They were closed today. I don’t appreciate the wasted trip. I then went to Comically Speaking in Reading and wished I had skipped Jerry’s and just gone there in the first place.

Eh. I want to like this store, I’d really like to support a small comic shop like this, but I can’t. I’ve driven by this place a lot at one point, never going in because I couldn’t figure out when they were open. Finally when I was on a big kick to try to complete a series I gave it a shot. Turned out he wasn’t ordering new comics at that point.(this was maybe 2 years ago, I imagine he’s gotta be again) Then he kept swearin he had some of what I was looking for and kept rummaging through a bunch of his stuff forever. He also talked my ear off for a very long time, asking basically my life story and when he got to how long I had been in the area, he responded with«why do you never come here then?» Nice and awkward. Anyways, he couldn’t find any of what i was looking for in his tiny, yet way overstocked store. Had me write a list of what I needed and said he’d look for them. Ok, but he wanted my number– but I had to refuse and just say I’d check back in out of fear of him talking my ear off on the phone some night. When I did come back, a week or so later, he had several comics of the series I was looking for… but he did try to sneak a few issues that weren’t on the list of my wants(which he still had). He said he could probably scourge up more, but I feel like he was trying to get me committed to coming back each week. Maybe if you’re more of a people person than I you’ll enjoy this place, but for me, I just wanna get my comics and leave. Not get stuck talking about everything in pop culture that I enjoy for 45 minutes with strange men.

First of all, I have to admit that it’s been a while since I’ve stopped in at Jerry’s. I’m older and married and it’s just not the type of shop I find myself in very frequently. While I haven’t been in the store in a while, I still see Jerry around town from time to time. Chatting with him when I get the chance makes me wish Jerry sold stuff I still bought. I can’t remember how many times I intended to spend 30 seconds in the store picking up one thing but ended up hanging around for 2 hours listening to the Red Sox game on his radio while shooting the breeze about anything that happened to come up. So, while I can’t give details about what Jerry is selling nowadays, I can tell you that Jerry’s Comics is the type of place that any local business should aspire to be and any local shopper should be proud to do business with.

Jerry’s had some killer t-shirts. In fact, my boyfriend wanted to purchase three of them, and all they had were xl. Bummer. We spoke with Jerry and he said that’s the default size he buys. Other than that, the store was jam packed with comics and other related merchandise. Such a tiny space for a ton of fun stuff to browse through! I would go back to Jerry’s, even though it is cash only(which I hate, hate, hate). Jerry was very friendly and helpful. We overheard him having an in depth conversation about Magic trading cards with the couple in before us. I like the personal touch. A lot of times, you go into comic book stores and no one on the staff wants to interact with you and I didn’t get that vibe at all from Jerry. One of the cooler and nerdier shops in downtown Beverly. I definitely recommend it(just bring cash if you want to buy something)!

Nice little comic store in Beverly. The owner definintely knows his comics. It’s frustrating because it’s cash only and there isn’t a nearby ATM to run to for at least 5 blocks. It’s nearly impossible to browse in because of the setup and in theory it could be made to be more browser-friendly.

I completely agree with Cameron L. This place is tiny(it barely fit my 4 person party!), but it has practically anything you’d want. It’s a quintessential comic book store, with a quintessential comic book guy behind the counter.
