Terrific in every way. Service was exceptional, ambience was above average, and the food was fresh, hot, and good recipes. This place is VERY expensive for Indian food, so the Unilocal 20% off is a necessary component since $ 100 a meal for Indian food can be perceived as excessive. If you’re looking for a high end Indian experience this is a good reliable bet.

I had my first Indian food experience at the Spice Affair. It definitely set the bar high. I have yet to find another Indian restaurant that lives up to the Spice Affair. The food, service and the ambiance is AMAZING!

I walked in with a preconceived idea of what Indian dishes I wanted. But when I looked at the menu, I didn’t see the dishes I fancied. No matter. The waiter asked me what i wanted and they made me 2 custom dishes. This speaks volumes to me and so I would highly recommend Spice Affair and their kitchen. I’ll be back for sure. Well done

What a great find! I’m a vegetarian, so I’m always looking for Great Non-Meat Eats! Well, I not only found a great place with a great vegetarian selection, but their service deserves an A+! The Spice Affair has a cool vibe, hip décor and food not only is presented well but has great flavor. A must try!

I’m a huge fan of Indian food, so we checked out their high Unilocal rankings and decided to try this spot in Beverly Hills. The ambiance and the plush booths are beautiful. Nice artwork and friendly staff and service make this a great dining experience. Spice Affair has such an extremely large menu that it can be downright overwhelming, which is why the several combination options are much appreciated. If you come early for lunch like we did, there’s an entire buffet an assorted appetizer platter of samosas, salads, crispy onion bhaji, chicken tikka, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, lamb tikka and ground lamb seekh kebab. You can always add some garlic naan, salad, lentil and veggie mulligatawny to your meal. A good third of the selections offered revolve around vegetarian with wonderful things done with cauliflower, mushrooms, eggplant, okra, lentils, peas, spinach and potatoes. Chicken and lamb dominate as well, with a large section of their menu offering a choice of chicken or lamb for every dish. You can always ask for complimentary papadum crackers that are served with a pair of sauces and a ramekin of pickled carrots and peppers. The lentils with garlic and creamed spinach– shahi paneer and cheese and eggplant with onions and peas was unique and fantastic. The flavors of all the dishes and sauces were outstanding. They have a great variety of sauces and spices to go with any dish. If you are in the mood for some great Indian food, this is a great place to check out.

Spice Affair is classy, tasty, and has excellent service. I use to travel 3 times a year to India for work, this is the nicest Indian food I had. I highly recommend it for business or family celebration. 6 Stars.

Spice affair is a great addition to the chain of restaurants in the Beverly Hills area. I have been to their weekend buffets multiple times and had dine-in for dinners for birthdays with friends in town and also co workers, every one I know loves their food. Spice affair boasts of a very classy ambience and romantic booths with a great blending interiors. One of the best fine-dine Indian restaurants around the area. All their curries/gravies are very authentic, rich and non greasy. Dum biryani and the kulfi are one of my favorites on their menu and also the weekend buffets. I would recommend it to anybody who is looking for great Indian food with a fine-dine experience. It’s worth all the $ spent.

The food is excellent. We had buffet, which includes free flow of champagne and mango lassi. Once we sat down, our waiter came with beverages tray and ready to serve us the champagne. A nice touch to the whole experience. My favourite were Lamb Rogan Josh and Butter Chicken. The ambiance was nice. Classy and upmarket. This is definitely a top choice for Indian restaurant in Los Angeles.

I went to the Bollywood Night at Spice Affair for New Years Eve and had a great evening. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, because I had never been there but it definitely exceeded my expectations. The employees were friendly and helpful. The guests were also very friendly and kind. The food was AMAZING! My personal favorite were the Lamb Chops and the Butter Chicken. It was very plentiful and filling. After dinner, our waitress brought out dessert which I am glad I tried because the Raspberry Kulfi was to die for. If you’re looking for an amazing Indian dinner this is without a doubt the place. Looking forward to eating here again.

Having flown back to LA in the wee morning hours of NYE, I didn’t think we’d be up for a night out. BUT, we figured we’d make it an early night, so made last minute reservations thru Unilocal’s SeatMe for Spice Affair. Reservations were for 7pm, BUT making it to Beverly Hills on a Thursday night was unbelievably smooth(I can only figure people were planning to go out later). Pulled up front to the multi-colored water fountain and found a valet(around $ 7.50?). Stepped inside and we were immediately greeted and taken to a table with a window, overlooking all the hubbub on La Cienega. My favorite part??? Although it was NYE, we weren’t squeezed between other tables. AWESOME. This has been the first time in YEARS, this has happened. They had live music of a guy playing some mellow tunes on a electric keyboard, but it was a low quality keyboard, so it made the music seem cheesier. They had a NYE prix fixe menu. We started with a couple of cocktails. I had the Indian Ocean and LOVED it. Vodka, coconut water & lychee. Simple & refreshing. I’ve made my own variation of vodka & coconut water, but I loved the addition of the lychee. 4 courses and everything was tasty, but my favorites were: –Truffle Oil Chicken Tikka –Green Moong Galouti –Chili Rubbed Sea Bass –Butter Chicken –Garlic Naan & Onion Paratha(MUSTHAVE) I was full by the time the desserts came out, but I enjoyed the Gulab Jamun Roundels & Raspberry Kulfi(hubby loved all 3). Service was Excellent! Friendly and Attentive. We couldn’t have asked for more. Final note: leftovers tasted wonderful, warmed up the next day for lunch!

Great dining experience!!! The menu at some classic dishes like the butter chicken… perfectly spiced and the more modern dishes… the lamb chops were outstanding and meat just fell off the bones. Great wine selection to pair with the menu! Staff were knowledgeable and very friendly! Definitely a routine stop!

We’ve been driving by this place for a year and we finally decided to go this Sunday for our anniversary dinner. To be honest. We almost cancelled our reservation due to some really bad reviews and I’m glad we didn’t. Yes, it’s not your average Indian place. So it does take a little modern twist on classic Indian dishes and it clearly states that on their site — that shouldn’t be a reason for a bad review. The music is a bit elevator but it’s perfect background music for conversations and dining. I rather have had that than them blasting something outrageous . The service was great. Everyone was very attentive. And it was very empty when we walked in but it became quickly packed soon after. Food was incredible. We had the Butter Chicken. Which is their twist on the chicken tikka masala and it even tasted great when I took it to lunch the next morning. Naan was amazing. We actually preferred the garlic naan over the kulcha, which was essentially stuffed naan. We loved the Duck and Date Mélange, even though it wasn’t one of the popular dishes. From the bar — they sent us samples of the Indian Ocean, which was coconut based and was amazing. They even brought us a mango dessert for our anniversary, along with the molten lava we ordered. Overall, we had a great experience. It was definitely worth it.

Overall an reasonable good experience. Not sure if its worth the extortionate prices they charge. Great ambience and service from the staff. I think they could really do with having a new chef in there, one that’s an expert on cooking lamb dishes. The lamb dish I tried was rather below average… Lamb was ‘tough as old boots’.

That butter chicken. I dream of it. I compare all other butter chickens to it. So tell me Spice Affair, do you freeze it and send it across the country? I know it’s a bougie statement but this is probably my favorite Indian spot in LA. One of my biggest regrets is not coming here more before I moved. I’ve had a sampling of the menu over time and can honestly say: I don’t think there is a single bad dish on the menu. Everything is excellent. The service is among the best that I’ve ever had. The owners are such kind people. I remember stopping in with a friend of mine and he remembered me from my first visit. I really feel like I’m taken care of when I come here — and not because I’m a customer but because the people who work at Spice Affair are genuine. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It has the fancy Restaurant Row feel to it without being pretentious. It is definitely on the short list of places I would eat on the west side.

I found this place as we drove past it on the way to Lawry’s one day. Shortly afterward I decided to check out this place myself. It happened to be Happy Hour and so I started with a drink and some items from the lounge menu. I have to say it’s awesome: got their Pisco Blossom(but now the Violet Dusk is my fav), a light sweet cocktail, along with the pea/potato samosas, fried fish(from lounge menu), and naan trio w/chutneys. I was also able to come back again to try their dinners: just the saag(more or less like creamed spinach but no cheese), basmati rice and butter chicken(ie. THEBEST). I also love how their Happy Hour lasts until 8:00, the longest happy hour I ever enjoyed. And I enjoy sitting at the bar, the bartenders are friendly and very sociable. Huge shout out to Avian, Jeremiah and Hannah for their wonderful personalities! I will be coming again and again.

I had the pleasure of dining here with some fellow bloggers the other night. Yes, this place is total Flavortown! Upon entering to the bar, I got a drink called the Golden Elixir which is a premium cocktail made with 12 ingredients including saffron infused vodka, and a blend of spices and floral essences. Also from the bar, there have bar bites such as the Chicken Tikka Phulka tacos. It’s as if a Taco crossed the road and got run over by Chicken Marsala! At the restaurant, the staff here were very attentive. Everytime I went to the bathroom, they refolded my napkin. Well, that’s what happens when you drink a few sips of wine here and there. Yeah, they have a great selection here too! For you red wine lovers, I highly recommend the Ken Wright 2012 Pinot Noir, goes great with pretty much from seafood to curry! But what I really do love is some of the takes they have on traditional Indian Cuisine. The Butter chicken loaded with love is their version of the Tandoori chicken, so moist and delicious! The Dum Chicken Biryani is presented like a BIG pot pie dish. Once you cut into it, all the steam comes out since the baking process keeps the moisture and the flavors in on the Biryani. I also really enjoyed the Onion & Gorgonzola Kulcha. Imagine green onion pancakes but more airy and more flavor! I truly enjoyed the ambience here as well, very rich tones with brown and cinnamon color floating around. Definitely a great date place or just a place to enjoy out of this world flavors!

Overall: Spice Affair does a good job of presenting(fairly) authentic Indian food in a fine dining setting. Don’t be scared away by the fancy restaurant. Their prices are decent. Food: 4 They have a $ 35 lunch buffet every weekend. It seems pricey but they have some amazing items(lamb and fish curry) which other restaurants won’t have for the buffet. Plus, you get champagne or any other nonalcoholic drink. However, we opted for their $ 20 DineLA menu which included a starter, main, and dessert. Mizuna, Grapefruit, Apple, and Pomegranate Salad with Feta Cheese: This was a delicious, light salad that was perfect for summer. There was a great balance of flavor. The grapefruit added acidity and a gun of sweetness and tartness that complemented the apple and pomegranate(which also brought texture into the salad). Potato and Pea Samosa: Although this was good, I wouldn’t say that it was amazing because it just hit the points I expected from a samosa. The wrapper was crisp, and there was just a hint of spice. The tamarind sauce went delicious with the samosa. Chicken Tikka Masala: The chicken wasn’t dry. It was flavorful and just a tad spicy. It can with rice, garlic naan, and the vegetable of the day(mushroom). Hands down the best naan I have ever tried. It was crispy but fluffy. The mushroom was well cooked. It wasn’t too raw and it wasn’t so overcooked that it looked wilted and mushy. Northie Lamb Bliss(Rogan Josh): This is by far the best lamb curry I have ever had. However, I did not like the lamb itself because it was not tender at all. I expect the meat in curry to be tender enough that it can be pulled apart with some gentle teasing with my fork or, at worst, easily cut with a dinner knife. My side(Kali Dahl Makhani) was delicious and I’m usually not a fan of this dish. The laacha paratha was also really well done. It was crispy but not hard. Mango Mousse is topped with a strawberry and white chocolate design. Underneath, berries are hidden. My personal food philosophy is that everything on the dish must be there for a reason. As a result, I found it hard to find this dish outstanding even though it was delicious. I feel like the mango mousse could have been better paired with something else besides berries, and the white chocolate was unnecessary. Service: 5 The staff was professional, attentive, and welcoming. The moment that we were seated, the host told us about their deals. When I asked her about the buffet, she immediately invited us to look at it, something most restaurants won’t do(you usually have to ask). They always cleared our dishes quickly and refilled our water constantly. The waiter will come by to make sure everything is ok at least several times throughout the meal. The staff seems very knowledgeable about the food. Our waiter told us the origins of the dish and which region they were from. Ambiance: 4 Much like the other restaurants on the street, they’re presented as fine dining. I like the abundance of natural lighting in their restaurant and the openness of the dining area. Otherwise, it’s a standard upscale eatery.
