What can I say. its a legendary restaurant and its reputation is constant. But after finally trying Spago, I can say, everything you hear is true. We had a great experience from start to finish. Service(even it being valentines weekend) was stellar. Food was superb,(i had the lamb leg). and Dessert was awesome. A great spot to splurge on, the hype was backed up with quality. Dont forget the prices though, a full dinner with drinks and dessert was about 180 per person. But we ate like kings.

Back in October 2015, my husband and I talked about going to a very special place for Valentine’s Day. Which is also our wedding anniversary. After reviewing our favorite places in town and also the places we didn’t know yet but were craving to try, Spago made it to the top of our list. The next challenge was: how could we make sure we could get a table for Valentine’s Day? I called them right away and was lucky enough to get one of the very last tables for two available that night. Yes, that’s how ahead of time you have to book if you want to even stand a chance to get a table at Spago’s on a special day. We got more and more excited as the big day was getting closer, to the point where we already knew which wine we would order a solid two weeks prior to our dinner. We arrived at the restaurant a little late but still got welcomed like very special guests. We got seated by the right end of the main dining room, not far from the window. The room must have been redone pretty recently as everything looked very modern and untouched. We both had the Happy Valentine’s Day special menu. Being a fish lover, I got started with the chirashi box. My husband got the mushroom soup with truffles. Both amazing starters, probably among the best we’ve ever had. I just wish the portions were a little bigger, but I guess that’s what always happens when you get such excellent food. After such a perfect start, I continued with the sauteed scallops with squid, clams and… chorizo(yes, chorizo!). I would have NEVER ordered fish AND chorizo at any other place but I thought it was the perfect place to give it a shot. I’m so glad I did. The chorizo gave a unique exquisite taste to the dish, making it an unforgettable experience. My husband had the rack of Colorado lamb and absolutely loved it too. We eventually shared the chocolate soufflé with mascarpone for dessert. Not the best thing we had that night even still way better than any other chocolate soufflé you’ll find in town. A magical experience overall, well worth the wait and the price. We may even make it our new ritual for Valentine’s Day! Thank you, Mr. Puck!

A must try when visiting LA. The service, atmosphere, and food are all 5 stars. If you love fine dining — you must splurge at least once here. It’s an experience. I went with a group of 4. We had a tasting menu and did a little drinking. Bill was a grand with tax and tip. But all 4 of us agreed it was worth $ 250 each.

We had a nice 7 course meal. Came here for dinner one night to take advantage of the restaurant week special 20% discount on the 7 course meal, the only down side is that both people had to get the same menu. There was some foie gras in there, truffle in another dish, so the ingredients were definitely superb. We were seated right next to the glass window to the open kitchen and really appreciated the view into the kitchen. It was very entertaining watching all the prep and cooking magic going on. Food was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. Our server was very sweet and attentive. Great place to celebrate special occasions as the prices are quite high even with deals and discounts. Definitely recommend.

Heard about this spot for years of course. The reputation gave it some big shoes to fill. We had a wonderful experience start to finish. Service was stellar(even though it was Valentine’s weekend), food was amazing… the tuna comes were heavenly and I had the lamb which was decadent. The apple Napoleon for dessert was everything you’d imagine. Worth the price. Must try

I ended up getting a call from Steve the manager. He took my complaint really seriously and invited me back for dinner. He was legitimately concerned and wanted to make sure it was handled. I’ll definitely give them another shot.

I was expecting an old-school experience but boy was I wrong. We had the DineLA prix fixe which was so delicious but so filling that by the time I was half way through I could only take little bites. But I forced myself to at least try each dish as I didn’t want to miss out. Cocktails were amazing too. Wolfgang Puck was there and stopped by our table to say hi.

I came here for Valentine’s Day. like 4 years ago. So obviously, much has changed since I last went. We ordered the New York Steak & bone marrow stuffed with mushrooms and halibut. New York Steak isn’t my favorite cut. I usually get filet mignon because it’s the most tender part, but it was pretty good and flavorful here. The halibut was also delicious. My favorite part of the meal would have to be dessert. They gave us three different Valentine’s Day desserts, which were all visually appealing. I almost didn’t want to eat them. Sometimes, when desserts look adorable, they don’t necessarily taste good. But oh my gosh, they were all so amazing. I don’t know how they concocted such delectable pieces of heaven. Based on recent reviews, it seems that Spago has a much more refined tasting menu now. I would definitely go back to Spago when I’m in the area to see the changes :)

This is my first restaurant to eat at that is owned by a renowned chef. It lived up to all of my expectations. We went during lunch and they took us in without a reservation. The managers came around to ask how things were going. Everyone was nice. Because we went at lunch, we didn’t break the bank. It was a nice experience to have while visiting LA without kids.

Apparently I’m having very bad luck with DineLA menus. Been here years ago and it was on of my favorite meals in LA. Sadly for DineLA tasting menu, the service, but especially the food was extremely underwhelming. Details to come.

came for dineLA and boy was i glad we came during restaurant week bc we got to try a variety of dishes for 125per person. Lots of asian influence in the dishes for instance, the spicy tuna cones. This was my item of the night. Spicy tuna stuffed in sweet and crunchy cookie/waffle cones. It’s hard to describe. just ORDERIT! One that I wasn’t too fond of was their silkie chicken pot pie. I could see where they were going with this dish. Growing up, my mom would make an herbal black chicken soup with nutritious things like goji and white fungus, but spago’s take on it was really bland. it also didn’t go well with the buttery flaky crust. I ate it separately and it was really good on its own. overall, spent about 350 for 2 people with one bottle of sparkling water.

The food here is fantastic. I came here for a wedding and everyone was REALLY accommodating, helpful and just super positive overall. I really loved how unique everything was, from the cute pink martini drinks(and I normally don’t like martinis but these were DELICIOUS) to the appetizers that included some truffle pizza slices, macarons with pork belly in ‘em(amazing!), etc. The dinner and cake(they had a mix of berries, buttercream and pretty glitter!) were SOGOOD as well: D.

Extremely loud when it’s a full house. Everyone is talking over one another and it echoes. Though, quite lovely at the end of the night when most tables have left. Parking around the corner for $ 2 after 6pm or street parking if you don’t want to valet. Best duck breast I’ve ever had. Didn’t know it could be so tender and flavorful. The desserts on the dine LA menu were just okay. Definitely a creative way of presenting sweet potato, ginger, coconut. I didn’t like the chocolate dish as part of it had a strange cough syrup aftertaste. Strange, maybe just me. Anyways, the only big thing lacking in my experience was meeting Chef Wolfgang Puck himself. Saw him from afar.

I decided to go old school for my birthday and picked Chef Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant to celebrate the occasion. Being a legend in the culinary scene of Hollywood, I wasn’t surprised to witness the glitz and glamour Spago has embodied in its ambiance, staff, and food. Elegant as it may seem, the atmosphere inside has a sense of laid back ease that makes you feel right at home. Be it a date night or a family affair(yes, kid-friendly), Spago fits the bill but do make reservations ahead of time. We were lucky to have been accommodated without a reservation. With a cozy bar area and an impressive list of cocktails, wine, and beer(they had Pliny the Elder!), time flew by until they found us a beautiful corner booth by the fireplace. Oh the luck we had in snagging such a spot. We started off with an amuse bouche of delectable SQUASHSOUP. I honestly wanted to lick the shot glass clean but restrained myself. One of the better tasting soups I’ve had to date, yes. Bread service was next with the OLIVECIABATTA being my favorite. The seaweed butter was as fab as the Wisconsin butter, both served room temp making it easily spreadable. I could’ve seriously eaten this all night long. The SQUIDINKGARGANELLI($ 26) was a no-brainer for me. It had large chunks of Maine lobster as well as copious amounts of bottarga that made the dish shine like the ocean. It was a nice prelude to my main course of COLORADOLAMBRACK($ 48) grilled to absolute perfection. Very juicy, very tender, and oh-so-pink in the center! The falafel macaroons that came with were impressive accessories to this already fantastic plate. The better half had the CHIRASHISUSHIBOX($ 26) to start with which was not only beautiful to look at, it was also a joy to indulge in. Too bad I couldn’t have much of it as the portion was a tad too small. The VEALCHOP($ 48) was flavorful but I wasn’t entirely a fan of the sweet sauce. The lamb was the clear winner, no doubt. If I had one thing to complain about, it will have to be the long pause between our 2nd course and main course. The progression almost made us want to cancel our entrees. Something went wrong in the kitchen and they downplayed it. I guess I’ll have to look at the brighter side of things, they went far and beyond in accommodating us even without reservations, and my rack of lamb proved to be worth the wait. On another sweet note, a complimentary plate of assorted cookies and chocolates ended our celebration with a candle for me to make a wish on. It wasn’t a bad evening at all.

The dishes at Spago are masterpieces of teamwork, experience, steadiness, and pride. Spago promises and delivers innovative California cuisine, glittering clientele and first-rate service in a beautiful indoor-outdoor setting. We came for DineLA, so we decided to take advantage of the menu and order a few things. We shared a soft shell crab appetizer. I don’t think you can really go wrong with anything fried, and this dish was nicely fried. While biting into it, I was awarded with very juicy crab meat. We started off with the Sonoma Spring Lamb Rack smoked with local rabbit tobacco with Jamie Farm’s baby carrots and radishes. We also shared the Double Cut Berkshire Pork Chop and Pork Belly with Potato Bacon Terrine. The meat from the Pork Chop was soft and tender and tasted very delicious due to the crispy skin outer layer however. I also shared the snapper, which was decent and not too overwhelming. I would highly recommend if you are in Beverly Hills and in the mood for a one of a kind fine dining experience.

I reserved seats here because Spago in Beverly Hills is Wolfgang Puck’s baby, his first restaurant venture and was rated the most iconic restaurant in California from Zagat. I liked the design of the restaurant, with great choice of lighting and glass sheets which made it more attuned to the Mediterranean feel which is often referred today as «Spanish modern». The restaurant also has a full bar, with solid but pricey cocktail options. — THESTAFF There were no critical problems during my dine here, the staff were quite astute from the valet, to the front desk. The atmosphere was pretty casual, and the service is attentive and professional. But the real story was who visited our table, can you guess who? Wolfgang puck himself, in the flesh! It was absolutely amazing meeting him, which was just the icing on this wonderful meal. — THEFOOD Their menu has three courses(first two courses can be shared) and a «From the Garden» section for additional sides. We started our first course with their Chirashi sushi box with perfectly marinated Hamachi and Big eyed tuna which had an awesome balance of flavor and texture, with the elegant restraint of tosa soy. Too often, Asian-fusion restaurants fall into a bad habit of over-seasoning food with salt, but adding the Salmon pearls gave the dish a very seasoned approach without overwhelming my taste-buds with saltiness. For our second course, we chose to share their Ricotta Gnocchi, which was topped with sun dried tomatoes, capers, and Oregano. However, I’m not a huge fan of gnocchi in general, this gnocchi dish was quite pleasant with different elements working together, with excellent texture (not too soft). For our main course, I chose the Seared loup de mer that had wild mushrooms, haricot vert(green peas), and bacon that kept me thinking about it even after my visit, while my friend had their Maine Diver Scallops which featured braised oxtail, Chanterelle mushrooms, and roasted root vegetables. Our final dish was the Mille-feuille for dessert, a French classic. While chef Puck’s food seemed more so closer to classical French, as well as his gleaming presentations, it kept me excited with each meal. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - Chirashi sushi box($ 26.00) Ricotta gnocchi($ 24.00) Maine Diver Scallops($ 41.00) Seared loup de mer($ 39.00) Mille-feuille($ 24.00)

A friend was nice(and generous) enough to take me here for my birthday celebration. Dang, this place is expensive. I think the bill, including four drinks total, came out to over $ 350 w/tip and tax! Yikes. Did the food warrant such a price? I have to say that some did, but some did not. Our waiter was a lot of fun. He suggested a second drink for my friend, who thought it was okay. My friend is more of a whiskey drinker. The waiter could tell that my friend wasn’t loving the drink, so he comped it and brought out another more to her taste. That was pretty nice. Drinks there were really good — they have quite a selection of cocktails to choose from, which I always appreciate. I never know what to order otherwise. However, drinks are like $ 18 a piece, so if you’re a heavyweight, don’t expect to get drunk here for cheap. We had: –Amuse Bouche — Mushroom Soup — a little shot to get us started. –Ahi Nori Cones — This was soooo good. My favorite. I think it was because the outside nori part tasted like Furikake Chex Mix. This is not on the menu, but I definitely recommend it. We got two orders of this — each comes with two pieces, and I was glad we did. –Agnolotti with Pumpkin — This was a pretty small dish with a few pieces of pasta filled with pumpkin. I’ve had this at other places before, and this one didn’t really stand out like a similar dish I had at –Squid Ink Garganelli w/Maine Lobster — Loved the lobster in this dish. I liked this pasta better than the first as it had more savory flavors. Pasta was cooked perfectly. –Caramelized Cauliflower — Eh — we orderded this as a side and the cauliflower was a little soggy. It had a nice light curry flavor, though, but I wish it had been charred a bit more. –Crispy Maine Black Bass — Fish was cooked really well — not dry at all and crisp on the outside. However, it did not have a lot of flavor. My friend didn’t care for this one. –Wagyu Beef — Very tender and small. Also flavorful for such a tender piece of meat. The deep fried potato pieces that came with it were quite fancy, too. –Dessert — Mille Fleur — This was pretty expensive at I think $ 16pp(so $ 32 for two… or $ 38). It was a large piece of dessert, though light. I was not impressed by this — maybe because it had apples in it instead of another fruit. The cream was okay; the crust light. We had a lot leftover and declined to take this back home. Not sure what everyone else is raving about. Maybe it’s better with strawberries or something else. –Bday Dessert — Since it was my birthday, they brought out a candle and a little tray of cookies/sweets. I think I preferred this to the paid dessert. Thumbs up! The place was very lively and I liked the décor. It seemed different from when I last had lunch there years ago — maybe they renovated it since? Or maybe I was seated in another area. Regardless, I probably won’t be back anytime soon with the prices, but I’ll be waiting until the next time I’m able to eat their Ahi Nori Cones again!

If you want your own private event then this is the restaurant to go to. The staff is beyond compare exuding hospitality hugs and kisses around as you enter. Note: this may note be a typical welcome, though if you come a few times it surly will be. The service staff it as good as it gets with beauty and grace with every course. This is were you send people to understand true etiquette. Perfection and care in tonight’s food selections: Ginger sesame tuna cones, macaroon with bacon, caviar tomato puff,(these are not on the menu thank you Tracey!), veal tartare in bone, salmon terrain, short rib agnolotti, pasta shel filled with chestnut cream, grilled lamb rack, Brussel sprouts, chocolate soufflé, Meyer lemon mandarin vacherin. Every scrumptious bite transports you a little closer to heaven. From light delicate flavors to the richness that makes you aw inspired with delight. Every time I dine here I remember how grateful I am to have another taste! They say it’s all in the details and at Spago they invented the details.

*** 3.5 stars for food *** extra .5 for service A very nice atmosphere and location to dine on a special occasion or you just feel like having a good meal because you can. Cocktails are a little pricier than the norm so expect to at least $ 18-$ 22 range. The chirashi box was very fresh and delicate. Autumn Squash Soup — tasty but a little too much cumin spice. Whole Wheat Bigoli«Spaghetti,» Braised Octopus Ragout– Rich flavors but the meat tasted like it had too much fat in it. Squid Ink Garganelli, Maine Lobster — Definitely my favor dish. The pasta was al dente and tasted like it was home made. It was served with a good amount of lobster too. Pan Roasted Turbot, Maine Lobster — The turbot and the lobster made a good combination but I didn’t take this dish to be anything special. Veal– order this because they were out of the veal chop. This veal was too soft and there was some fat on it. It wish it was a little more tender and that the sauce complimented the dish. Side Dishes: Creamy Parmesan Polenta– lacked some flavor and tasted more like standard issue. Roasted Brussels Sprouts — Very familiar places that serve roasted Brussels sprouts with a sweet glaze. The rice crackers did add a nice touch to it. Overall– Decent place for a fancy meal. Great service. Not sure if I’d come back just for the food. They took one our of drinks before we finished it but the waiter was nice enough to replace it with a new drink on the house. He also forgot the glass of wine I ordered but we quickly comped that too.

Went to Spago for my grandma’s 80th birthday. The price tag is incredibly steep and I’m not sure that it was worth the price. The service was good but it should be considering how expensive everything was. Mushroom risotto with tomato and avocado crab cake: a good little starter! I did wish it was a little bigger though. The chestnut soup with crème fresh: wasn’t a huge fan. The soup was kind of thin and the crème fresh made it almost sour. Lobster ravioli: amazing, loved it. Super silken and rich and delicious. Roasted duck breast: done really well. Crispy edges and soft duck. Lamb chops: good but nothing special. I’ve had better lamb chops elsewhere. White chocolate and strawberry cake: good but the cake was a bit dry. I was expecting a little more. Overall great to eat at a restaurant of Wolfgang Puck but I don’t necessarily know if it’s necessary to do so again.

The final dinner for our LA trip was at Spago’s, the famous Wolfgang Puck restaurant! From doing research, the food menu is huge — it mentions California-style cuisine but I see lots of Italian, Chinese, and Japanese influences too. The wine menu is like a dissertation, and their cocktail menu is also huge and sorts everything by liquor(gin, whiskey, rum, etc). Speaking of which, the bar area is pretty impressive. My bro-in-law, a scotch connoisseur, spotted a $ 6000 bottle just sitting on the shelf! We elected to order ala-carte, and did the mistake of ordering too much, not realizing the generous portions and rich, hearty flavors. We would up getting leftovers for takeout and had no room for dessert! COCKTAILS — Wife got the Xiang Yi(fragrant pear) — nice, strong fruity drink. I got the Good Girl gone Bad, which has spicy basil, rum, and coconut — a little bit sweet but gives a nice spicy kick — hence the name. BREADS — Very impressive and good variety. Seaweed butter and Wisconsin butter nice touches. My favorites were the Lavash(crispy, loaded with sunflower seeds) and the cherry bread. Warning these can fill you up! ONE — This is the cold appetizer section, and we shared their quince-prosciutto-burrata salad which was really refreshing. We had quince jelly in Spain and really like the sweet and tart flavor it brings. Definitely works in salads! TWO — These are pasta dishes which came out larger than expected. We should have gotten one to share! I got the Bigoli(whole wheat spaghetti with braised veal in light tomato sauce), while everyone else got the squid-ink garganelli with lobster. Both were excellent — the lobster was sweet and barely cooked so it still had soft texture. By now, everyone was getting full. THREE — The main course, which turns out to be a sizable portion. Wife got Hong Kong-style steamed black bass(skin-on!) which are familiar flavors and pretty well executed. Perhaps not at the price at $ 44 though, but hey this is Beverly Hills! I got their Roasted Jidori Chicken with mushrooms. It was tender and juicy as expected and had amazing crispy skin! I first heard of Jidori chicken from the original Iron Chef and this was the first time seeing it on a menu. Mushrooms were earthy and good but I felt the sauce was a bit too strong and on the salty side. SIDES — I wound up ordering one of each to share: polenta, brussels sprouts, eggplant, and cauliflower. We liked the sprouts and eggplants the best. This of course turned out to be takeout for my sister. Overall a great meal and great service. To maximize the experience I would recommend per couple to: Share a ONE and TWO, each order a THREE, avoid the sides, and make room for a dessert. I’m waffling a bit between 4 and 5 stars but I’ll give 4 for now. The only reason is that we were really blown away by the experience at The Bazaar two nights ago, so they get the edge this time.

Had a delicious meal at Spago and definitely will return. Upon arriving a bit early for our reservation, we took a seat at the bar and ordered a beverage. It’s a smaller bar area but we managed to find a couple of seats. When our table was ready, they kindly carried our drinks to the table and seamlessly transferred the tab as well. We were sat in their outdoor enclosed patio area, per request. Essentially their patio is a space off of the main dining area with walls but no ceiling. It’s a beautiful private space that has multiple space heaters for comfort. We ordered the steak tartare, endive salad, short rib tortellini, Jidori chicken, and chocolate cremeaux(photos posted). Each of the dishes were tasty but the pasta was amazing. Next time I go, I’ll probably end up ordering two of the pastas since they come in smaller portions and creative options. It was so hard to choose! Service was top notch throughout the evening as well. Spago really pays attention to all of the little details and that is very appreciated.

Hard to comment on places like this sometimes. Yes, the food was excellent, and yes, it is expensive. I would highly recommend trying this place at least once. Definitely make a reservation, as they get very busy. Nice ambiance inside. Service was excellent. Our waiter made great recommendations, and was very helpful with wine pairings. The food itself is really, really good. Funny thing is that of all the dishes we had, the handmade agnolotti dish really stuck out in my mind as the best. The New York steak was also a standout dish. Love that they didn’t pour the sauce on the plate until it was served to you. Nice touches like that go a long way. As you would expect, the portions were not very large, so unless you order a lot of dishes, you might go home a little hungry. Overall, great food, ambiance and service. It is expensive, but it’s worth a try!

Also angenehm.
