It’s a little outdated with their facilities. Their locker rooms, shower, and sauna/steam room need serious updates. The weight room is small but serves my purpose. For. Family fee if $ 73 a month, you can’t really complain. I like the fitness classes when I actually have time to take them. Most people, as you would expect, are elderly.

The gym has nice employees and its spacious but the bathrooms are an absolute disgrace. They are definitely unsanitary and there are only two in a locker room that can comfortably hold over 500 people. Why in a locker room that is so enormous its equipped with 5 lounging sofas and 3 treadmills, 2 elliptical, and one stretching mat… in the women’s locker room are there ONLY2BATHROOMS? That is insane. The showers also have no shower curtains so its like showering in prison. on a brighter note, there are plenty of cardio machines, you probably never have to wait for one.

The Y is where my love for weight lifting began about ten years ago. Back then there were two memberships, and the cheaper one was perfect for me as I really one used the weight rooms. After they stopped that, it got pretty expensive and I ended up leaving for Golds Gym. I got a little nostalgic after a while(plus I lived closer) and decided to try the Y again because they had a sliding scale for memberships depending on income. The price I got then was decent, but two months later they announce another price increase. Now I just stick to Golds. I have run into at least a dozen former YMCA members who have all had the same complaint, price is too high. Some paying $ 44 a month or more. It’s too bad, the Y had a really good weight room given the space they had. It had a pretty good dungeon feel to it and I thought it was the best kept secret in the Valley for a while.
