Inside is ok reminds me of a dive bar that is really good at service which is rare. Waitress was very good and timely. The selections on the menu are so good it is hard to select. I had the wings with buffalo sauce. They are marinated, baked, then broiled, topped with blu cheese, green onions and sauce excellent! The salad was very good with bacon and field greens. $ 2 off 20oz Irish drafts during happy hour was a treat as well. Definitely going back!

Excellent bangers and mash. Comparable in taste to real English pubs in West Sussex I’ve frequented. Excellent service, Keith was attentive and encouraged me to be comfortable and enjoy another pot of tea. Very inviting atmosphere. Good to see as I’ve yet to find a decent pub in the US. Pretty good beer choices. Would like to see sharps, perhaps Doom Bar(excellent beer). 4⁄5 for sure it would get a 5⁄5 if they offered more traditional pub favorites. Possibly steak and ale pie! Also, the full English is lacking savory beans and a hash brown. Small things that would make this place absolutely exceptional!

I have family who lives in the area and we usually stop in for tea when I’m visiting, 1 – 2 times/year for the past several years. It’s never been amazing, but it’s always been pretty good and is conveniently located right in historic Bethlehem, so we keep going back. After my visit yesterday, I doubt I’ll come here again. Here’s why: 1. Our server wasn’t overtly rude, but she walked the line tightly. I decided that she just has an abrupt personality but she may be in the wrong line of work. 2. Two people in our party ordered lunch and two only scones(with clotted cream) and tea. She brought out the scones first saying, «The other things come from the kitchen.» We waited another 10 mintues for the clotted cream to come out from the kitchen with the food. Apparently she wasn’t going to make two trips to the kitchen so we sat and stared at our scones while we waited for the hot food and clotted cream. 3. Our scones were stale. When they’re fresh, they’re normally very good, but yesterday they were not good at all. :(I wonder if they over-ordered for Mother’s Day and were serving the leftovers. 4. The clotted cream tasted off. It wasn’t sour, but it wasn’t fresh either. 5. I orderer Lapsang Souchong tea and must have had it confused with different tea. I didn’t like it at all. When the server brought it over she commented on how smoky it was and she was surprised I ordered it because not many people like it. That’s totally OK, but a great server would have mentioned that when I was ordering. When she said that I realized I had ordered the wrong tea by mistake. I tried it, didn’t like it, and asked her to please bring me a new cup and take the tea away. She didn’t offer to bring me new tea which was surprising. I’ve worked in restaurants and when a customer doesn’t like something it’s standard practice to offer something different. Again, not a terrible thing, but definitely 2-star service. 6. There was someone pulling up flooring in the stairwell adjacent to the dining room, about 10 feet from our table with his tool boxes, etc. on a table as we entered. Not the end of the world, but is another reason for a 2-star review. 7. It would be really nice if the jam, clotted cream, and other condiments were served in ramekins(or something similar) instead of plastic 1 oz. cups with lids. It just seems cheap for a sit-down restaurant where you spend ~$ 15 per person on tea and scones to bring out your jam in a plastic, throw-away containter.

Went here last night and had the fish and chips. The fish fillets were perfectly cooked on the inside, however, I would have preferred them to be crispier on the outside as I had to eat it with a fork because it was not firm enough to pick up. Also, they should serve it with the fries on the side of it. The fries underneath were completely soggy from the tender fish sitting atop of it. The service, atmosphere, and live music was good though!

I’m a huge Irish Pub person. This place has everything you’d want minus the leprechauns. The fish and chips were ridiculously delicious. Bartender/Wait Staff very professional. Atmosphere was very nice, tons of whiskey options. I can’t wait to go back!

A bit pricey, the menu I felt was a bit limited but the food was great. Can get pretty crowded on Friday & Saturday nights

They are in the middle of constructing bathrooms right now, but are still open. The current restrooms are upstairs from the dining area. They are also going to extend the bar area. There looks to be a large selection of liquors available, but we had tea during the lunch hour. We tried the Earl Grey Cream. It was really good, very creamy tasting without using cream. You’d have to just experience it to know what i’m trying to say. Anyway, I had a light lunch, a cup of cream of onion soup. It was good, very satisfying on this cold afternoon. It was served with brown bread which was awesome to dip. We noticed scones and cookies for sale as we were leaving, so we grabbed a few to take to others. I regret not scooping up one of the currant scones while I had the chance. I know we’ll be back because my husband loves places like this.

Great meal here – the fish & chips, roast beef melt, and Guinness lamb stew were all good. They also have a large selection of teas – served brewed and for sale(including loose tea). The desserts were really good as well. We had the Guinness chocolate ice cream, the Guinness brownie(with peanut butter ice cream!) and a sconut(a combo scone and donut fried to order) – they were all great.

A great place to get a delicious pint of Guinness and some authentic Irish fare. Their toasted brown bread is hands down my absolute favorite. It’s evident McCarthy’s takes pride in providing a true Irish pub experience as accurately as possible without leaving the states. I’m a loyal customer and will continue to frequent their establishment!

McCarthy’s is mine and my fiancé’s favorite place to go; be it for a celebratory gathering, listening to some great bands, or just relaxing with a pint. Due to the crowds the dining room can become packed at times but the servers make due and scoot through with a greeting and a smile. The whiskey menu is superb and the staff are very knowledgeable about the many different kinds they have on display above the bar(my favorite is the Green Spot, which has a delicious hint of fragrant green apple. Yum!!) Thankfully, if whiskey or Guiness aren’t quite to your liking(or you’re popping in early), McCarthy’s still offers plenty of loose teas to chase that winter chill away. They do cycle some out, so if you find one you can’t do without make sure you ask about taking some home with you! Love the place, the staff, and the food. Definitely worth checking out if you’ve never been there before.

This is our favorite place when we come down to Bethlehem. The staff are so warm and friendly, and the environment is family friendly, cozy and cheerful. People from all around of all ages come here to eat, drink and be merry while listening to the great live music. The owner is very friendly and enjoys getting to know his customers. They also have space upstairs available for events. The food is great and the drinks are strong. Can’t wait to come back soon!

We did not eat here, but we stopped in for a drink. I always prefer Tullamore Dew Irish whiskey if i’m not getting a beer. They had a fantastic selection of rare and top shelf Irish whiskeys and the barmaid recommended that I try Tullamore Dew Phoenix. It was awesome. I put a few small ice cubes in to bring out the flavor. It’s not something that you will find regularly, so it was very memorable.

Stopped in for a pre-dinner drink on Saturday night(12 Dec). It was packed, as was everything that night, and only stayed for 30 or so minutes. From what I could make out, it looked like a large, open room with tables and a bar area. We found a spot at the bar and ordered a couple beers and a couple vodka soda’s… They were a bit over-priced in my opinion, but it is what it is… I overheard one of the bartenders say the«Band is setting up right over there», so I can only assume they have life music on Saturday nights. I give it 4 stars as a round up, as it’s a strong 3.5+ in my book. If the drinks were better priced, it’s 4 easy. I saw a lot of people eating, so I can only assume the food is pretty good too…

Service is horrible. Even though there was less than a dozen people, it took a while before someone even came to our table. But the atmosphere is great. Then I remembered my visit to Ireland. Their pace was very laid back. So, perhaps the service wasn’t that horrible after all. Food and drinks: Smithwick and Tullemore Dew is fantastic. Fish and Chips are not to be believed! The best! Wish they had Sausage Rolls, though. The handicapped accessibility isn’t good. They say that the side entrance is handicap accessible but it’s not. Didn’t check the restroom but they say that that is handicap accessible. I’ll check the next time. All-in-all, it’s worth the hassle.

True Irish pub. Best around. Food is tasty and drinks are crafted with care. The bartender saw one person at our table make a face at her drink, he came over to ask if everything was alright. Turns out it was off. He promptly fixed it and gave her a free one. Mistakes happen everywhere. How a place handles it is the true test of a establishment and its pride of product. I’ll be back Great scotch collection.

If you are looking for a taste of Ireland and the British isles I highly recommend this place. From the music to the ambiance to the décor to the beer and do on. I am more than happy with this pub. The food is ok. It’s not fine fare so who cares? I enjoyed my cottage pie and the wife her fish n’ chips. Great selection of beers, ciders, and whiskers to boot! Having lunch today but would love to come during some live music.

Liked the food. The environment was comfortable. Decent service. I visited after some friends reported back. I followed on with the cottage pie — think shepherd’s pie. It arrived with tasty, wheat bread — not heavy, nor overly dry. Nice complement to the dish. The peas came as a side, and this allowed me to choose to add them to the cottage, but they were steamed but crisp and not all mushy. I liked that. As for the pie, the serving was appropriate for lunch. Nice smokey flavor from the sauce in the beef. Potatoes were mashed ‘from scratch’ — still a few lumps. Great stuff! The menu reported that all food is made from scratch. I believe that. The dining area is informal and comfortable. Lots of wood, or dark colors, to make it feel like a pub. Next time, I’ll try the scones.
