I would also give this place zero stars if I could. I have a long bob and went in for a trim, I was pretty adamant about wanting to keep the cut the EXACT same, just move it up a two inches. I also saw Ann who parted my hair in the middle after I told her I part it on the side. When I called her out on it, she said it was just the way she does things. I physically had to move my hair over so that she would listen to me. I ended up with a few strands throughout my hair that were missed and the same length as my old cut. I have since had my hair cut elsewhere and my new stylist agreed that the cut was very uneven. This place is very overpriced and Ann needs to go.

I got an amazing facial here. The aesthetician had a very gentle touch and the massage was super relaxing. A+ for the facial!

This salon is overpriced, and the quality of service is just not good. I had my brows waxed by Mimi, I think. The worst job ever. She waxed and SHAVED the brows. Even after I told her that I liked them on the thicker side, she did what she wanted. They were ridiculously thin. It took me months to grow them back. In addition, I told Chris that I preferred long(specifically below the brows) bangs, yet consistently walked out of there with the exact opposite – above the brow bangs. I looked like Moe, each time! If I could give Salon A NOSTARS, I would. I have never felt compelled to review an establishment, but I do so now to help anyone avoid the mistake of getting his/her hair done at this awful salon. After receiving a gift bag from Salon A at an exclusive Capitol File event, I decided to give it a try and could not regret this decision more. I have spent the past 24 hrs bawling my eyes out. I went into Salon A with hair that was down to my lower back and wanted essentially the same cut, just brought up a couple inches to get rid of the weight in my hair. I came with a picture and I told Ann(one of the owners) that was«EXACTLY» the haircut I wanted. I also gave her specific instructions and tips about how I like to style my hair — which included asking for long layers so when I curl my hair, it lays well and I showed her precisely the shortest I wanted my hair. Ann said she would start off with taking off 2 inches, and would check with me if I wanted more. When I saw 6 inches of my hair fall into my lap, I stopped her and asked her what she was doing. Ann reassured me it was her technique and hushed my fears. By the time she was done, more than half a foot of my hair was gone. She admitted it was not what I asked for, and that it looked nothing like the photo I showed her. More inexcusable than hacking off all my beautiful hair, was that it was simply a very bad haircut. Better haircuts can be found at Hair Cuttery. When Ann tried talking to me, she said I was talking so much and that she assumed it was okay to keep cutting, even though she acknowledged she never asked if she should cut more than the 2 inches she told me she would. Her partner tried to fix the cut, but everyone kept asking me what to do to it, instead of providing solutions themselves on how to fix this awful haircut. NOONE was remotely sympathetic that Ann had taken off more than 3 times the amount of hair she said she would. Ann cut off a year’s worth of hair growth. DONOT go to Salon A if you value your hair. It will take me the rest of the year to get anywhere close to where I asked her to cut my hair to. Unacceptable. RESPONSETOFRANCESCAOFSALON A: Please refrain from lies and gross exaggerations of the truth. My hair WAS extremely long. Cutting off 2 inches would have still been longer than the haircut in the photo. You would have had to cut almost 4 inches off my longest layers to get it where the photo had it. I stopped Ann when I noticed over 6 inch strands of hair falling into my lap. I NEVER said to «cut off as much as you need.» I said I was comfortable taking off more than the 2 inches Ann suggested, and that I wanted to remove some of my fried ends. I, from the moment I sat down, said I wanted my hair to still be long. Then Ann said she would start off with cutting 2 and cut more if I felt comfortable doing so, but not once did she ask me if she could cut off more than 6 inches. Not once. I feel very disappointed that Francesca chose to lie about the experience. Look at your other reviews(not the fake ones you put up after my scathing review), Francesca. I’m not the outlier in my bad review of your establishment.

Based on the online reviews and a discount coupon, I decided to give it a try — big mistake! After a very poor job the first time, I went back to have the problem fixed. The result was hair that a co-worker told me looked like I had done it myself in the bathtub and slipped. Unfortunately, she wasn’t wrong. Their prices are comparable to good salons in the area. The staff was very nice, but that’s the best I can say about the experience.

I would probably give this salon three stars if it wasn’t so expensive. I got a $ 40 – 45 dollar haircut for $ 70. It’s a nice haircut, but definitely not worth the money. I also got the scalp treatment, which is the biggest waste of money. The scalp massage was a total non-event, and my scalp and head feel no different than they did before I got the treatment. There was no change whatsoever in the look or feel of my hair. Some people have mentioned how unfriendly the salon workers are – true that! I have never been to a salon where everyone is so aloof. I actually got bored during my haircut because my stylist could not make conversation. Not recommended.

I followed Lena from Rainbow salon in Chevy Chase Pavilion… She is been taking care of my skin for more then 3 years. I like her new place better. It’s quiet, cozy and has a FREEPARKING!!! After each treatment not only my skin looks fabulous, I feel relaxed and re-energized! I usually get deep-cleansing facial, which includes double exfoliating, with scrub and organic peel, with very gentle extraction. Also she nourishes my skin with vitamin C and K. The best part of her facial is neck and shoulder massage. When she applies a mask it smells so good, she tells you what she is using and why, so I found out it was an organic fruit and herb scrub with aromatic oil blend. Oh, did I mentioned, my eyebrow wax was included. The product from Suki became my favorite!!! I like that Lena is not trying to SELL the product, like a lot of estheticians do. My Botanical facial lasted 90 min and its always at least 90 min, not shorter… I paid $ 90. It is certainly well spend time and money. One of my favorite treatment from her service menu is eyelash tint what makes them dark all month and anti-cellulite body treatment(helps me to loose that stubborn«baby» weight :)… I love people who work there. Francesca is always nice and smiley and Ann is the best hair stylist I’ve met so far. Can’t wait to go back.

i have long thick dark hair. at times it can be a hot mess. thank god, i came across salon a, and my hair’s never been greater. found out about this place through my sister. she loves it. i’ve had bad hair memories, so i’m the type that brings celebrity photos and goes through a slight panic attack when i see sections of hair being cut off. the stylists at salon a made me feel at ease and got me excited to get my hair done, rather than paranoid. the celeb photos didn’t annoy them, instead it helped them see where i was trying to go with my hair & they worked it with. very friendlly, reassuring, and were genuinely interested in satisfying their customers. this is the only place i go to. i would give it 5 stars, but the only reason it’s minus 1, is cuz i just found out Christof is no longer there :( he’s mentioned a few times in the other reviews. all i can say is: Believe the Hype. he’s pretty darn amazing and will definitely be missed.

I have been going to Chris at Salon A for a couple of years now. I have short hair and have tried a number of different stylists in the past year since I moved into the city but I keep going back to Chris. He takes his time and does a good job every time. He also really cares that you are happy with the cut. If you have any reservations, he does whatever he can to make it better. The place is reasonably priced(especially for the area!) and definitely worth it.

I would really like to recommend Salon A but due to my past two experiences there, I cannot. On my first visit, I had my hair straightened. After stylist Alvaro commented that my hair reeked of chlorine(the water in my apartment buidling is loaded with it) he proceeded to blow dry my hair til it was a frizzed out mess and then flat ironed it to the point that I now know what burnt chlorine smells like(not good). However, my hair did look straight and shiny, although it was not the best blowout that I have ever gotten. I did not think I would go back to Salon A until I received a card in the mail offering 20% off my next service. Against my better judgment — and because my favorite stylist at another salon had quit and I was in desperate need of a cut — I made another appointment. Second time was not the charm. Again, Alvaro commented on the chlorine smell in my hair(although significantly reduced since I installed a filter). I explained that I wanted about 4 inches cut off my curly, below-shoulder length hair. I made two requests: That my hair reach my shoulders when curly and that it should not be cut so that it poufed out in a pyramid shape(a common mistake stylists make on curly-headed clients if they are not careful). Alvaro set to work and when finished, the cut looked great — straight, that is. When I got home and washed it, it was another story. One: My hair was at least 2 inches ABOVE my shoulders when it curled. Two: Alvaro had cut the front longer than the back, angled forward — which looks great on someone with straight hair. On curly hair it forms the dreaded pyramid of poufiness. I actually cut the front ends myself to make it right(I routinely cut my mother and sister’s hair so I am not wthout skill; don’t try this yourself unless you are similarly experienced). Overall, I am hugely disappointed. My one fault: I should have gone back to explain my unhappiness with the cut but could not find the time. I believe that Alvaro would have offered to fix it if I had gone back, but I’m not sure I would have trusted him to do so. I will be looking for another stylist/salon for my next cut. Meanwhile, my hair is pulled back most of the time and I am saddened to see my once luscious bouncy curls bound until they are adequately regrown.

Throughout the past year and a half, I’ve been to Salon A a handful of times, and for the most part I’ve had good results. The stylists are very attentive and are good about giving the exact haircut a client wants. The stylists are all very friendly, too and younger for the most part. Another thing I like about Salon A is the massage chairs you sit in while your hair is being washed. They spend time with each client, and I’ve never felt as if I’m on an assemby line like with some other hair salons. Everything in this salon seems very new and the overall décor looks very fancy and expensive. The reason I did not give five stars to Salon A is because once they used the wrong dye on my hair and still charged me. But other than that, I would recommend them.
