We ate here for the second time tonight. The food is excellent. Each time I ordered the white bean and mushroom burger. It’s absolutely one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten; not just one of the best veggie burgers but one of the best burgers! It was so wonderful the first time we ate here that this time all four of us ordered it, and all loved it. We also got the black eyed pea hummus which was delicious and comes with a generous assortment of vegetables and heavenly flatbread. We also got the artisanal meats and cheese platter and that was delicious. To top it off the coffee is excellent! We also had really great service both times. The only downside is that the dressing in the side salad is anemic and flavorless. But we had an overwhelmingly positive experience and would definitely eat here again. And again.

I was hesitant about trying Redwood as I usually don’t try out restaurants that don’t have 4 or more stars(stupid rule, I now know). I am very glad I ignored my rule and gave it a shot. Easily got a reservation to sit outside on a Saturday night and it was wonderful. Great atmosphere and great service. We started with dirty martinis and the buratta app. For our meals, we had the branzino, burger, brussels and mac and cheese. The fish was light and flakey with great flavor. My fiancé enjoyed his burger and it was cooked just the way he ordered it. The sides were amazing! The brussels had an awesome horseradish and parm flavoring. The mac and cheese was creamy and amazing. We will definitely be back to try more items. I would definitely recommend giving this place a shot!

I went here with a bunch of colleagues about 6 six of us for dinner in the patio side. I was looking forward for happy hour, but apparently they don’t do happy hour at this patio side. Anyhow, I wanted to dry something different with beer and asked how this beer is and waiter offered me a sample. I took a swig of it and waiter came back and asked how was it. I just said it was ok and he took the sample from the table. Anyhow, I ordered two mixed drinks and they just seemed watered down. Despite that, the food was on point and great. I will probably just stick with the food and not the overpriced drinks.

Really posh eatery in Bethesda. This was my first time at Bethesda Row, mainly because it is usually out of the way for me, but I went to a play with a bunch of friends at the Flying V. Being up here we decided to try this place out for brunch. The décor is beautiful and the restaurant has a sophisticated but casual vibe. We had a reservation for 8 just in case, but when we got there it was not busy at all so it felt a little empty. They offer a prefix menu for $ 25 that included most items on the main menu. You got a starter, entrée, and desert. You can change out the starter and desert for sides if you like. They also have $ 15 bottomless mimosas that, as hard as we tried, were never empty! The service was very attentive, friendly, and quick without being rushed. Before I comment on my food, a few table mates got the apple cider donut holes. I only wanted a taste so I asked my friend if I could have a bite of one of hers. The server brought her«starter» to the table and it had a dozen donut holes!!! We ended up sharing the two orders with the table it was so much. Another friend got the bread basket and it wasn’t just a cute little assortment of bread, it was legit a bread basket with a plate that had more than enough to feed all eight of us. I had the«special of the day» starter which was a watermelon/mint gazpacho. The portion was quite large, I was expecting a cup and not a bowl. Even though I didn’t finish it the starter was very good just too much. For my entrée I had the chicken caesar salad which was fine. The only reason I wasn’t thrilled with it was because I wanted the bibb wedge salad, and was told they did not unfortunately have it available that day. Instead of a desert I opted for a side of scrambled eggs which were nothing exciting but good. Overall, would I recommend you go out of your way to go here: no. However, if you are in Bethesda for some reason it is a decent option. Just don’t get your hopes up for a particular menu item and be flexible.

We went for the first time to Redwood for dinner with friends. The restaurant looks pretty but dinner was really disappointing: unimaginative menu; overpriced starters and main courses and poor service. We paid $ 17 for three pieces of cheese(not an exaggeration) and $ 24 for a small piece of flank steak without anything else except for some fries. The menu said it came with chimichurri but we got a creamy sauce that had nothing to do with chimichurri. Really, overpriced and boring.

The burger was kind of small but good. VERY pink for a «medium.» The bartender seemed quite knowledgable about the beers on tap and was friendly.

Unfortunately the amazing looking menu and great setting wasn’t enough to make dining at Redwood a great experience. Two wrong orders, a long wait, an argumentative food runner, an inattentive server, and obvious waste of food made for a less than pleasant meal. One wrong order was ignored while the rest of us waited to start eating for the last order to arrive. When it finally did, food was cold. Another wrong order was delivered with an extra portion and we told the food runner to leave it. He argued, refused, and walked away. In total, 4 steaks were taken back to the kitchen to never return. Most eateries would thank you for keeping the incorrect order to avoid waste and correct the issue with the kitchen. The manager kindly attempted to make it right via the bill and offering dessert for the table but we were all in agreement that prolonging the experience wasn’t something any of us wanted to do.

This place is pretty cool. I liked the service and the layout of the place. Gotta love bottomless mimosas, and they have them. I had the chicken sandwich with a sauce I can’t remember the name, and a side salad. The order was misplaced and took longer than usual for us to get our order but the manager was prompt in letting us know about the mishap and offered to make it up to us. It was no more than a few minutes late, but we appreciated their willingness to make us leave their establishment with a smile on our faces, and so they did. The food itself wasn’t great. It was sort of bland. Two buns with a big piece of chicken in the middle. Sort of a letdown. The sauce gave it a nice flavor but wasn’t enough. I forgot to mention we had a cinnamon bun to start which was superb. To finish I had the blue berry cheesecake. It was nice :-). Definitely a place to try again and sample other dishes on the brunch menu. I love brunch

Came here for a friends birthday dinner! Ordered a few drinks before ordering dinner. I ended up ordering a burger with fries after being suggested by the waiter. I have heard the Mac and cheese is really good so I regret not getting that also. I asked for it well don’t but the burger seemed to have literally been lit on fire because it was a tad crunchy. At one time in the night I went to the bar to get a drink and the bartender, I forgot his name(worked on Sat 5÷14÷16) was very accommodating and stroke up conversation which was appreciated

Came in for Mother’s Day. They were set up for a buffet for $ 35 for my husband and I and $ 17 for the kids. Have to say the vartiey and quality of food was great. Had a station where cooks made to order omlettes that my kids loved. Great idea. Carving steak station was spot on. We all went back for seconds(my husband thirds). Another thing I feel like I need to mention was the service. Been to several buffets and in past the waiters are barely around but here they were on top of things. Every time we left the table our silverware was replaced and napkins nicely folded. Water was always filled and the bottomless mimosas were most definitely bottomless. Our waitress was very personable. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to go spend my Mother’s Day. Look forward to going back for regular service

The portions are great but don’t have a wide selection. I got the veggie, which was nice and fresh. The fries were a little too burnt and oily for my test but the other people I went with enjoyed them.(They’re thinner than the McDonald’s fries) Finding the bathroom was a challenge because there are signs to a hallway with 10 different doors but not the actual bathroom doors.

Looks beautiful on the outside as far as décor. Etc But… Service on a Sunday evening was slow and disappointing. No one came to check on us for drinks or ask how are meal was. We even had to get up to go get the check !!! Drinks were ok the«specialty margarita«was more like«average«margarita at any Mexican restaurant($ 12) Appetizer .“bruschetta –esque». Burrata(sp?) cheese, olive tapenade and sundried tomatoes It was ok but cheese is apparently not meant to have flavor and olive spread and sundried tomatoes were nothing more than fancy store brand spreads ($ 14) Burger: veggie burger –white bean and mushroom – was delicious !! Best thing tonight. Except –for a fancy restaurant– the tomato slice was not fresh!($ 16) Other meal was their signature pasta dish – bland taste and way too expensive for penne pasta, spinach, sundried tomato and parm sauce ! $ 22 It was just a bad experience. It’s obvious the owner does not care about his/her customers or ensuring that awesome service and consistently good food is given to all. As we stood up and walked inside to pay for ur bill it took forever to even get service for that! probably won’t be back anytime soon…

Slow service. Should have heat lamps for outdoor seating. My breakfast burger was overcooked and buns just fell apart. Plate was a mess. Really liked their home fries and apple cider donut holes. Avoid the cinnamon rolls that they tout on the menu. Nothing special to write home about here.

We attended with a large party but are easy to please. The bottomless mimosa glasses were all obviously still dirty. Odd you wouldn’t look at the empty glasses before placing 5 of them on the table, but not that big a deal. Then they forgot to bring out one member of our party’s food. We had to remind them 5+ mins after everyone else’s food had arrived. The topper was when someone noticed the sliced apple in their sandwich still had the sticker on it. What would chef Ramsey say? ;) I don’t normally leave a Unilocal review — but thought this was noteworthy. This place is sloppy, and I wouldn’t trust what they put on the table. I see the restaurant has an average 3* review, and this isn’t at all surprising given our experience. This place has potential but doesn’t seem to be able to deliver on the basics. Super strange for bethesda, but I guess with this premium location they don’t need to try hard to get traffic — who needs repeat customers anyways!

So as I did not order dinner this review is more for the ambiance and service. Met up with an old friend here. The hostess and the waiter were both very friendly and nice. The hostess explained that there was trivia in the bar area and sat us far away in order to allow for a more quiet atmosphere for us to catch up. We ordered a bottle of wine which was lovely and I appreciated that they came by often to refill our glasses. I think that helped us finish it… :) The complimentary bread was served warm and the butter, man it was delicious. Soft and salted, perfect for dipping the bread into. We also shared the fried brussel sprouts, which had a great salty flavor but were perhaps a tad greasy. Still delicious. Tried the cow green hill cheese as well which was so tiny but soft and yummy, similar to brie. Overall it was a lovely evening. The place is a bit pricey but I suppose that is to be expected given the area it is in. Would love to try happy hour next time.(from 4 – 7)

I’ve been meaning to try Redwood and I’m glad I got to try it with coworkers during Restaurant Week. I like the restaurant’s wood interior and it was cool that the chairs were wrapped with seat belt straps. For drinks, I was the only person to get something other than water. I ordered an Arnold Palmer, but don’t recommend it. It was watered down and lacked much flavor. Most of the party ordered the three course meal. Many people were disappointed that they were sold out of the Kataifi Shrimp. It was nice that they let you substitute a side for a starter. Guest #1 started with a Four Cheese Mac and Cheese, then Wood Grilled Flat Iron Steak, and ended with an Apple Cake. He liked how the Mac and Cheese was rich and creamy. He liked how the steak came a large bowl of French Fries. Guest #2 started with Oven Roasted Artichoke, then Prosciutto Wrapped Pork Loin, and ended with some kind of sorbet. He didn’t say much about the courses he ordered. Guest #3 just ordered a burger. He said it was one of the best that he has had in a long time. Guest #4 started with Fried Brussel Sprouts, then a burger, and ended with a Flourless Chocolate Cake. She has always wanted to try Brussel Sprouts and she liked how this appetizer was prepared. Guest #5 started with Brie & Duck Prosciutto, then Pan Seared Scallops(served with butternut risotto), and ended with a Key Lime Pie. She really enjoyed what she ordered :) I ordered the Caesar Salad, then the Pan Seared Trout, and ended with a Flourless Chocolate Cake. The Caesar Salad was least interesting but the safest thing on the starters portion of the menu. I wouldn’t recommend it. I liked how the skin was crispy, how it was served with creamy Parmesan polenta and Mediterranean style string beans(with tomatoes and toasted almond). I felt that the Lemon Herb Buerre Blanc sauce was a bit too heavy and rich but I liked all the other aspects of the dish.

So I can see Redwood from my apartment window and I decided to check it out for brunch. I thoroughly underwhelmed and disappointed. First, the selections are extremely overpriced. I ordered the mini funnel cakes and they were HARD. Totally disgusting and unappetizing. I also ordered the bottomless mimosas and EACHTIME I finished my glass and had to wait to be refilled. It was not at all busy this day. The server seemed borderline annoyed that I wanted my refills. I had a total of 3 – 4 mimosas, which isn’t much compared to my usual brunch tally. Next I had the crème brûlée french toast with bacon and eggs. It was all so very subpar especially for the price. I would never go back here for brunch, which really sucks because it’s right outside my window and would have been perfect as a regular brunch spot. On top of the food being unappetizing, the service was abysmal. I didn’t think it was deserving of a tip, but of course I still felt like I had to tip or be judged. Won’t be going back here. If you’re ever in Philly and want some AMAZING crème brûlée french toast, try Green Eggs Café.

My colleagues almost always insist on coming here for work lunches and sometimes post work events and I tag along because it’s usually free. Staff could stand to be more friendly and personable but I’ve never had a real issue with service but the menu is pretty uninspiring. Plating is not a priority so nothing even looks particularly tasty. Salads are okay and the sandwiches are decent enough when they have cheese(they’ve run out more than once). The best things I’ve had are the Brussels sprouts when they’re piping hot and the Reuben spring rolls. Happy hour prices are decent but selection is limited to the day of the week.

Hey Ryan! You out did yourself today for Happy Hour! It pays to be in company of my FAB gal pal/co-worker Sonya aka Vogue… thank you for your great customer service. I was the 1st person to arrive, so I grabbed the corner table on the patio w/a nice view of the people passing by on the makeshift cobblestone path & waited for my cohorts. Sonya, which was revealed to be the«Norm» of the bar, came 20 minutes after me & was treated like royalty… I guess that made me royalty as well! Our other gal pal arrived, so round one of the house Malbec was on deck…& what a delicious wine for $ 4! I exuded such excitement when I was able to partake in the many selections of the HH Menu. Most HH Menus are slim to none for Vegans/Vegetarians, so I was on foodie fleek mode 100. Our order: Onion Rings w/o the dressing, lightly battered & quick fried to perfection… believe it or not, you can taste the freshness of an onion even when it’s cooked… very fresh & tasty O Rings. Flatbread w/both the Olive Tapenade & Romesco dips. One of the best tapenades I’ve eaten & the romesco was a nut and red pepper-based sauce w/some special seasonings… palatable perfection. Fried Brussels Sprouts lightly coated/tossed in a mild Dijon & some garlic. We got it w/o the Parmesan… quick consumption concoction. Farm Beet salad tossed with cubed oranges & a pistachio-citrus gremolata. We 86 the whipped goat cheese… salad didn’t last no more than a few minutes. Very fresh greens & dressing was a unique & flavorful flare. & for my meat eating cohorts they chewed on the NCBBQ Wings, I didn’t partake yet I have a culinary eye & had to ask what the glaze was… cider vinegar, nice touch Chef. Manuel was Ryan’s pinch hitter, as he made sure we had everything we needed & then some. The entire ambiance on the patio w/the windows open to the bar really elevated our HH experience. On the way to restroom(natty designed & sanitized I must say) I met the General Manager Colin, such a nice & humble person. He took pride in hearing the compliments of his fantastic staff. Nice interior/exterior layout, the dining area was precisely staged & the lighting fixture was distinctive… after great customer service & delicious food, I really enjoy the staging & design of restaurants. A 5 minute walk & a superb HH experience makes Redwood my new go to HH spot from the office.

Came here for a weekday lunch. Encountered a standoffish manager as soon as we entered. There were probably about 3 – 4 other tables, yet we waited 45+ minutes for our meals. My Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Brussel Sprouts were mediocre. Chicken was dry, though there was an ample amount of bacon that almost masked the lack moisture. My coworkers said their happy hour specials aren’t bad, so I’d consider returning but no particular rush.
