Good Korean style fried chicken and bibimbap. Friendly staff. Down-to-earth, polite patrons(or at least as down to earth and polite as they get in Bethesda). It often serves as a refuge for people needing a break from loud places. This would be a solid 3, but I’m taking a star off because the owners should know better. 1. A hip place blessed with such good Korean chicken and a liquor license should offer at least 4 types of makgeolli or takju(rice wine), 4 brands of soju, and 4 kinds of regional specialty spirits, preferably including some from the islands. Korea hasn’t figured out good beer yet, so replacing that with American or Euro brands makes perfect sense, but the rest does not. 2. Relishes to counter the grease of the chicken such as kimchi and cubed white radish pickles are basic accoutrements that should never run out. If cost is an issue, factor it in to the cost of the dish. Also, make sensible portion sizes or create the option of ordering specific amounts. Don’t make me ask the busy server to run to the back 4 times to retrieve tiny bowls of stuff my table will need in quantity. 3. Purse hooks. Purse hooks. Purse hooks.

The chicken is great. The spicy could be spicier. This is not a fast food joint(as the waiter made sure to mention to my party). Be prepared to spend a bit of time here. I may explore more of the menu, but the chicken is so good, why try anything else?

The bulgogi tacos were amazing. The taste was refreshing and light very clean and flavorful. The wings are always amazing and they’ve added a new flavor. So welcome honey flavor to your tastebuds. The chicken is so light and yes the CRUNCH is still there. Just imagine biting into air that’s crunchy and full of flavor. Sounds crazy but no other way to explain it. Why not 5 stars because I need more than 2 bulgogi tacos per order. A must try! A home run for Cordell Ave.

Best chicken in all the lands. I could eat it every day tbh, and I’m like… Half vegetarian. Their teriyaki tofu is also clutch. Uhg, and their ramen. Also the bibimbap when I’m really hungry. All the food is good. Good daily drink specials too. And the employees are really cool. Andy is the man.

Came in here for a late lunch… two days in a row. Alex is the best bartender. I had deep fried rice with tuna on top with a spicy sauce. Holy orgasmic. See picture attached. Also had the wings in the soy garlic. Even more amazing. Only downfall. Takes forever to get the wings but so so so worth it

Possibly the worst ramen I ever had in my life. Instant ramen tastes better than this. This is one of those restaurants that put ramen on the menu just because ramen is getting trendier these days, not because they can actually cook it. We ordered a side of bokchoi that didn’t come until we were almost done with our food. Bokchoi was overcooked, has no flavor whatsoever, and was mixed in with this weird jizz looking sauce that’s probably tapioca. Ugh.

I work in walking distance and I like to try new places. I got in and sat at the bar, Alex was by server/bartender. I understand the lunch rush but if something takes long please remember to say that as a disclaimer. I have an hour for lunch and spent the whole time waiting on my food. 3 drumsticks and rice, while 2 tables of 6 and 8 got their appetizers and entrees. I wanted to just was out but I was so flipping hungry. I was late getting back to work not because of the 3 mins walk but because the food took so damn long. Wings are good but not worth that wait.

I came here to order lunch to go and got Bibimbap. It was a combination of a bar and dining. It wasn’t bad. You get what you order with this dish. Rice, Vegetables, Meat, Egg and other ingredients that is in the bibimbap dish. The dish was very good since most of the ingredients needed to be fresh.

We came here with good intentions and ready to to eat based on pictures and reviews on Unilocal.Ordered water so we can take our time and see what we wanted to eat. We planned on eating here, but the bartender made a comment«we should start start charging for every once of water». This wasn’t made directly to us, but we heard it anyway and decided this isn’t the place we should be eating at. That was very rude and not professional at all. They lost out on a possible good review.

I’ve only been to Momo once, and the only thing I tried were the Korean fried chicken wings, but I that’s enough of a reason for me to keep going back. Yes, they were that good(I got the hot n spicy variety). Crispy shell with soft, piping hot chicken on the inside, they just made us go «mmmm». Needless to say, conversation was nonexistent for the next several minutes as we focused on the food. I should also mention that the server was warm and friendly, and accommodated all our requests. Overall, great place for the Korean wings, and I can’t wait to try the other dishes on the menu.

Oh Momo how I want to love this place. Ok so to begin with service wasn’t that great. I had to flag down the server several times to get my drinks. Ordered the Korean fried chicken and the sweet and sour chicken. Stick with the fried chicken– it’s expensive but they do know what they’re doing. I definitely prefer the chicken here over Bonchon. Finally I ordered 2 bowls of rice, at $ 1.99 each!!! Seriously? 2 bucks for a bowl of rice!!! For you low carb, sports loving folks, go get a drink(various drink specials throughout the night) and some chicken. By the end of the game you’ll be happy, fat and drunk!

I’d say this is a 4.5 for my update. I finally went to the restaurant instead of just getting delivery and the chicken is better at the restaurant. It’s really crunchy and tastes oh so good. I also decided to get the bibimbap which was surprisingly good! All this and a blue moon, friendly service, nice outdoor seating, and it was a good night. I’m a fan.

I came here for lunch with a friend on a rainy weekday. Not a lot of people seated inside but we were warmly welcomed to come in and choose our seats. I’ve been to BonChon before so I had an idea of what their Korean fried chicken would be like. My friend has been wanting to try it so we got an order of 5 drumsticks, half spicy half garlic soy. They told us it would be about 20 minutes so they could fry them fresh and we didn’t mind at all. In the meantime we ordered the Street Rice Cakes platter. Stealing the description from their website: soft rice cakes & fish cakes in sweet & spicy chili sauce topped with a boiled egg, fried dumplings & fried seaweed roll. This dish was awesome! The soft rice cakes in the sweet and spicy chili sauce tasted a bit like gnocchi in a spicy tomato sauce, but obviously with a twist. The fish cakes were a bit too fishy for me, but my friend LOVED them. She compared them to a Chinese dish(that I totally don’t remember the name of). The fried seaweed roll was awesome, and I would just order another plate of them next visit. As we were finishing up on that platter and chatting our 5 drumsticks arrived. It came with a small cup of pickled radishes(I think that’s what they were) and a side of coleslaw. We also got to choose 2 sides so we got white rice and extra coleslaw. The chicken here is worth the wait! Super crunchy skin and juicy meat underneath. I liked both flavors and enjoyed doing a mix. I would definitely do that next time too. Although it was a pricey lunch, the flavors and service were worth it.

If you’re looking for a place to watch the Champions League, while all other bars are playing NCAA, this is the place to go! My friends and I ended up coming here for that reason, and we totally lucked out that the food and service was also spot on! We got a bunch of appetizers to share, including the veggie fried dumplings which were the bomb. The french fries and edamame was pretty standard. The people next to us ordered the chicken wings and they looked amazing. I don’t eat chicken but I texted my boyfriend to tell him we need to come back to this place so he could try them. I’ll definitely be coming here more often to watch soccer and eat dumplings.

I was so excited when I heard about a new Korean restaurant in Bethesda but… It was bad… The worst service I have experienced in a long time. I usually don’t expect a good service when I get authentic Asian food(but they usually have really food) Food: 3⁄10VA has way better double fried Korean chicken wings. Or u can always get them in NYC Service: 1⁄10. I found a hair on my chicken wing and the waitress told me she will give me A new wing… At this point, I didn’t want any food from here. The crazy part is that she didn’t apologize or anything. My friend who worked at Rio told me if this was any other restaurant in Bethesda would at least gave me the dish for free. I’m not asking anything for free, I was really bothered by her attitude. Ambiance: I love the outdoor space!

Let’s face it, you’re here for the wings. They rate very close to Bonchon. Both have their good qualities so I would guess some people would prefer these. Either way they’re delicious! They come with some spiced cabbage and some pickled radish. Both are nice compliments to the wings. The rest of the menu from what I have seen has been hit or miss. The bibimbap is solid: lots of food and a good amount of meat. The pork buns are definitely worth it, but pale in comparison with Bonchon and Sakuramen’s pork buns. They do, however, come with some tasty fries. The fried mandu(dumplins) were also good; they have a very nice glaze on them as well. The bulgogi platter was disappointing, but I will say I am very particular about Korean barbecue so this wasn’t surprising. The service both nights I’ve been here were good. Then again both nights were slow(although Friday night got more packed later on). One nice thing was seeing the owner or manager come around to check in on everyone. You can tell she is very interested in improving everything. My biggest suggestion is to add coat hooks. Lots of jackets and nowhere to put them. Inside the décor is pretty awesome. Records are scattered across the walls, and they have some cool retro fans that are functional and decorative. There’s a big wall of tvs behind the bar, and they have two big projector screens. It’s definitely a great place to catch some games. Lastly I loved the music selection they had going. Lots of oldies with some other stuff mixed in. I don’t remember hearing any jazz…

Finally, adding a little diversity to the –thes. A Korean chicken joint… in the –thes?! I don’t even think they serve pizza #90PercentOfTheRestaurantsInTheThes. They have great happy hour specials(wings half price/half price other apps/2 buck millers lites I believe) Recently I went there late night to grab a bite to eat and a little soju to top off the night. Yogurt soju: I was expecting a bit more of a yogurty taste(as described by a friend) Mango soju: well that’s totally my jam. A drink that will put this review into my favorite list«Places that are totally my jam that don’t serve jam» Wings are petite version of bon chon chicken. Good flavor, leaning towards the soy garlic. I got a very unique corn appetizer. It was corn sizzle in a skillet with cheese and spices on top. It was D-licious. Also got to taste the fried dumplings which were D-lightful. Groove is in the heart of this place. Friendly service, delicious food, and great specials puts this place on my «I’m going back even though I have a list of places that I need to try» list. I need to try this dish I saw served to another guest which consisted of udon noodles, seafood, and a spicy sauce. That will happen soon.

Heard good things about you guys through a friend that attended your soft opening, and finally got a chance to drop by last night. Convenient location(no more trekking out to Annandale just to get decent Krn food!), great décor(modern«itaewon-feel» walls, tables and flat screens), friendly staff, tasty food! Only tried the wings this time, but both flavors(soy garlic & spicy) were quite good. The ddukbokki was perfectly cooked/flavored, and I especially enjoyed the round/premium odeng, in addition to the regular/flat kind. However, I’m not sure about the broccoli instead of pa(green onion). Only bad thing was probably the size of the chicken. Perhaps I’m just too used to Bön Chon’s genetically mutated/ginormous pieces. Will definitely be back to try the drums/breast, as well as other dishes. Btw, I’m not sure if enough ppl know about you guys. To spread the word, you should look into doing a groupon or something. That would definitely get a ton of ppl through the door.

It’s hard to believe that there are two Korean restaurants in downtown Bethesda(house of milae is the other one). When you enter, there is no host stand, so you stand aimlessly inside or outside(great outdoor space btw) and ask a waitress for a table. Please get a host stand to avoid this mêlée! After being seated(they need to print or make more menus!), our waiter was very nice, efficient, and thus giving this place 4 stars. The Korean Fried Chicken was real good, but wish the wings were just slightly more crispy and little bigger. You also have to ask for the radish here and they will bring it to you(no charge). Overall, good wings and didn’t disappoint. We also got their mussels to start off. I wouldn’t recommend as the mussels were not plump or didn’t taste fresh. They have other rice, noodle, and meat entrees(bibambap, jjampong ramen, tonkatsu, bulgogi, etc…) that I will next time. They have good happy hour and late night happy hour(after 9pm appetizers are half off) too.

Korean fried chicken has made it to Bethesda at last. The venue is hipster trendy. There are three big screens and a large projector featuring sports. The ambiance is mellow with light sixties and seventies rock in the background. The featured item on the menu is the fried chicken. Crispy with little batter, the chicken is succulent and crunchy. I prefer the spicy, but it is not too spicy here. I’d rate it around 3000 scoville, which puts it slightly above Tabasco. Slightly disappointing for me. The Modeum BBQ selection on the menu is an assortment of pork, cross cut ribs and bulgogi beef. A good pick for the voracious carnivore or shareable for a date. With the selective draft picks, this spot is a good option to kick back with friends if you want a less pedestrian sports bar vibe with good eats and decent beers.
