Marriott Employee Federal Credit Union

If you can get a good loan rate here and it makes financial sense, go for it. But be VERY aware of all of their fees! They have fees for things you couldn’t even imagine! Just not worth the hassle. It’s 2016 folks! Seems like they are operating on a business model and with technology from the 1970s. Terrible.

I had the required funds in my primary savings account to be above minimum balance. I also have a car loan, and even though I have never once had a late payment, they transferred a payment from savings to loan without asking me. This took me below the minimum balance, so then they started charging me $ 3/​mo because of that. I didn’t notice for a few months because I don’t bank from this account at all. When I called, they said too bad. Too bad for them… I’m now paying off the loan and closing all accounts… they will never get my business. And I will post this review anywhere I can find a place. Nice institution that basically steals its customers’ money.

so far I have no complaints about this credit union! I love it and love my company!!! yes, they are a bit old school as far as security reasons and bit inconvenient at times, but coming from a person who’s identity has been stolen a while back and I had to suffer the consequences, Im okay with a little inconvenience for as long as I know my money is safe and my identity is safe! Great addition of benefits as an employee and hoping to rebuild my credit soon!

Applied for an account while out on disability… they took my money and gave me account numbers and everything! Then a man called and said he couldn’t open the account without a paystub proving eligibility for the membership and to provide one once I returned to work. I did receive a request for a utility bill, copy of ID and paystub but ignored it due to the fore mentioned phone call and they closed my account with a $ 10 early termination fee. When I called to discuss it, Ashley was rude, unprofessional and unwilling to listen to my concerns. When I asked to speak to her manager, she put me on hold and came back to tell me that he said he never called me and that they have policies and procedures and there was nothing he could do. When I asked to speak to him directly she said she couldn’t connect me and HUNG UP!!! I called back and got another representative and asked to speak to a supervisor he said he needed to verify my identity first. After he verified who I was, he put me on hold and returned to tell me that Wayne wouldn’t speak to me because there was nothing he could do about it. I told him I didn’t want to talk about that but wanted to make a complaint. He asked what I wanted to complain about and I said that I would just like to speak to someone. He told me no again so I asked for Wayne’s supervisor and he told me there isn’t one. When I asked where do I file my complaint he told me there wasn’t anywhere to file one. I have never experienced such unprofessionalism and disrespect! They should be ashamed of themselves for treating their members (even though technically I guess I’m not one) like that! I work in a hospitality industry and you’re supposed to serve me but you can’t be hospitable! I expected so much more… that’s not the Marriott way!

So last weekend (Saturday) I was trying to help my girlfriend with her finances. I track everything for her in Quicken and she likes that she can see her net worth rise as time moves forward. I don’t always update everything every month, but last weekend I decided to take the time to get all of her accounts — and my accounts — updated.
We decide to perform a sync operation in Quicken so that her latest transactions since the last sync would move smoothly into Quicken and then I could massage things so her reports would come out clean and accurate. Oh… but wait… the three account previously set up with her credit union were failing. It’s okay… We’ll go online and take a look…
We get to the site and it complains that we are attempting to access her account from an ‘unregistered’ browser. No worries… we’ll register the browser…
We fill out the personal information and click ‘submit’ only to be greeted with a ‘we are unable to process your transaction online’ message. It’s okay… We’ll call the 24 hour support line…
We get a gentleman (I’ll call him a drone going forward) on the phone who mentions that their system was updated and that there might be some information missing that they are asking to use to verify her identity when attempting to register the browser. Specifically, the credit union decided to require a driver’s license number as part of their verification EVEN IF THEY DO NOT HAVE THE INFORMATION ON FILE. It’s okay… We’ll provide the driver’s license number to the drone and then register the browser…
«I am sorry, but we cannot handle that for you. You will need to print out a form, fill it out, and either fax it to us or mail it in. {head explodes}
So… Let me get this straight… As part of your enhanced security measures, you are asking that we commit all of her information to a piece of paper and send it through the mail? Or put it on a fax machine to arrive someplace on the other end to be viewed by whomever might pick it up? Or better yet, to fax it from a machine that might have a memory function where someone can walk up later and print the history, thus giving them all the information my girlfriend needs to reset her account passwords at her credit union.
Does anyone else see the idiocy in this process? Is it me? Am I fucking nuts???
Anyway… She faxes the form from her work and is told it will take one to two business days for them to get the information into their system. Soooo… comforting knowing that this piece of paper containing all this personal information (mother’s maiden name, last five of the social security number, driver license number, birth date, etc.) s floating around their offices for a couple of days before they get to it. Do they even shred it when they’re finished? I would not be surprised if the answer was No.
Fast forward to Wednesday (three business days after the information is sent) and we attempt, once again, to register the browser. FAIL… It’s okay… We’ll call another drone…

She faxes the license, they call her right away and work with her to get her password reset. I told her to set the new pasword to ‘FuckingIdiots101’ but she was having none of that. We finally got online last night and updated her accounts. It only took six days. That’s what I call quality customer service…
Fast forward to today…
We go online to the site because we have to manually enter her interest and escrow information into Quicken because her mortgage account is not available for online services. This has been the case, so it provides no additional frustration. Like I needed any. But, lo, and behold, we click on the account history and they do not have anything to show on her mortgage. All we can see is when the next payment will be withdrawn from her checking account and the current balance on the home loan. Call another drone…
«We cannot view that information. Would you like to request a paper statement be sent for the mortgage account?»
Seriously??? ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS??? What year is this???
«Yes… Please send us all statements and switch her to back to paper statements so we can get this information in a timely manner going forward.»
«Okay, but I must notify you that there is a $ 2 fee for paper statements.»
Even though the fucker is not available to view online. {exhausted sigh of frustration and surrender}
They win. I cannot deal. My girlfriend is going to have to move to another bank or credit union or I am no longer going to help her with her finances. We’ll see what she decides.
