Glen Echo Exxon

for the past 8 months EACH and EVERY time the car starts the power steering squeals for 30 seconds with or without turning the wheel or putting in gear. Items I wanted repaired:
check engine light is on; flapping sound from beneath the car at highway speed; outside temperature sensor not working. These were the things i wanted fixed and so, I took my car to Glen Echo Exxon. I discussed these items needing diagnosis/​repair. I went over the items
with manager, provided detailed description.
Exxon estimated $ 400+ to resolve check engine light but could not promise that would work, nor could they address the other fixes I wanted. However, Exxon did find several other items they wanted to repair at over $ 1000 that were invisible and unknown to me.
A few hours later and $ 700 poorer I drove my car away from Exxon. The power steering noise still very apparant and loud. Exxon claims they could not and did not hear it?! and now, not only is the check engine Light on but two additional dash lights have come on. Exxon acknowledges it is something they did but were now unable or unwilling to resolve without at least trying a part at $ 400+ because it Might be an oxygen sensor.
I am Very disatisfied and feel it was largely a waste, spending $ 700 and having none of the fixes I wanted addressed but paying invisible items Exxon says were needed though I was not aware of. Also Exxon did not provide or show me the parts they «replaced». I got excuses but not am not pleased.
My advice, should one decide to use Glen Echo Exxon, be very wary of Glen Echo Exxon ‘finding’ items to repair outside of the fixes requested. Request to keep parts (they did not provide the old parts for the things they replaced), request to be shown, to physically go over and see what they will subsequently discover as urgently needed repairs. and get a second estimate from another shop.

I had them do an alignment on my car, but they did not bother to center the steering wheel, so now when the steering wheel is straight, the car goes to the right. I had also asked them for a quote to replace my radiator. They gave me a quote of $ 550. I am very knowledgeable about cars and do a lot work on cars myself. I would typically do this job myself, but am getting ready to go on vacation and did not have time. The price seemed high, so I asked him how much they had factored in for the radiator itself. He said it was $ 285.00. When I told him that seemed high, that the Dodge dealer sells it retail for $ 250.00, he said I don’t have to have them do the work. I was not arguing with him or speaking in a mean manner in any way, I was just trying to understand their rates and was hoping he would have said he would try to find one at a better price. This was my first time using them, and clearly my last.

There’s far better gas stations nearby — don’t waste your precious time and money going here.

I have a flat tire so I turned into this service station and they tell me they can’t help me! What’s that about — he’s too busy playing games on his cell phone to help a lady in distress. To add insult to injury, their gas prices are ludicrous! Avoid at all cost!

I needed gas, and they had it :) But the pumps & station were laid out kind of strange. No sign of an attendant, though I didn’t needed help.

Ok service, but the most expensive gas around. I once asked why and they told me some BS about Exxon tells them what to charge, that sounds like BS to me. They should be ashamed of the price of their gas, seems like they are taking advantage of the community that keeps them in business.

It’s so close and convenient… but the gas is completely overpriced in these already tough economic times. Stars for convenience and service, but the gas price needs to go down!

Good service but grossly overpriced gasoline.
Great if you need a tire replacement or an oil change, or something as simple as car fuses. I don’t think I’d get any serious work done here (you can get a better deal elsewhere, I’m sure), but they aren’t ripoff artists or incompetents.
