The temple and members seem nice. But this review is for the Torah School program. They promised to do all they can to help my son, who has adhd, in class. We had very good attendance, only missing a few classes. His teacher only wanted him medicated to attend class. We were between meds and would like to take a break from all that chemicals in his body. They called and said they wouldnt want him in class and said he could only attend if a parent was with him. I called back to ask for 1 more day or please refund. I never heard back. And of course, I pulled both kids out. Their program is not cheap and quite far from our house. I’ll just say I regret choosing this program over the one at Temple Shalom, which is closer and the teacher is so much more personal and sweeter.

I first heard about Adat Shalom Reconstructionist Congregation through Rabbi Sid Schwartz’s book, Finding a Spiritual Home, while I was living in Geneva, Switerland. I just had to visit, and became a member as soon as I moved to the DC area. I love the spirit, the rabbis and cantor, the members, and the architecture of the synagogue. It’s a unique spiritual space well worth exploring. I’ve found my spiritual home at Adat Shalom.
