My interactions with Westchester Modular spans many years, but I have not purchased a home since they do not service Virginia, where I live. Instead my visits have been because of relatives who have bought a home from them and also told me about other customers — all of these second hand reports have been positive. I do have a modular home in Virginia and recommend them to friends because of the building advantages(less cost for a more consistent build quality). When I toured their model in CT several years ago they showed me their custom«bump-ups» where they took advantage of the space between the factory constructed modules to enhance the interior look of the homes. My builder never mentioned this as an option. When I renovated our kitchen I copied their approach and bumped up the center section with an octagonal area and crown molding — a fairly inexpensive feature that greatly enhances my kitchen area. Then in another renovation I had the entrance way bumped up — those extra 5 inches also look great. My last visit, I was checking Unilocal on my phone for restaurant recommendations and this prompted a discussion of Unilocal reviews of Westchester Modular. I usually only look to Unilocal for restaurants but they said one review torpedoed their Unilocal rankings. I read this old review and believe them when they say they addressed the issues — ask them to explain; but, you should not avoid them because of that one review … they said that other customers have reviewed them at their request but Unilocal does not count them since they are not regular Unilocal reviewers. I have been a Unilocal user for a long time and should do more reviews to give back so I hope this helps someone get a great home!

I stopped by on a Saturday just to see how modulars work and if one could be a good option for a new home in the future. They have an open house and you can be shown the modular by one of the people that work there or you can explore it. I chose to explore it and it is a nice place. I liked the facts like«it takes x amount of boxes to create this modular». If someone I know is interested in building a modular and doesn’t know a lot about them I would definitely tell them to come here. There people were very nice to me even though I didn’t bring the cash.

Run don’t walk from this company! After our house was destroyed by Sandy we chose to go with a modular home knowing it would be about the same price as stick built but thinking it would be quicker. We met with the folks at Westchester and had a really good feeling and hired them to build our house. Well that good feeling is long gone! Since our new house was«set» in early July it has been absolutely miserable. What was suppose to be a 6 – 8 weeks of site work to finish the house we are 9 weeks in and at least 3 more to go. These guys have continually over promised and under delivered. They have used sub par contractors which have now become the joke of the neighborhood. The project manager has been asleep at the wheel missing deadlines, clueless as to what is going to happen when and an overall miserable guy. Have meet with the owner of the company twice and while he pretended to care it appears that he’s given up on trying to push this project along. So if your thinking about modular we are questioning if it was really that great of a decision, but if do go modular… don’t use Westchester Modular!
