I had a very nice experience at this bookstore. I was in town on business and decided to stop in to check it out. It’s avery nice store with a wonderful staff that is extremely knowledgeable and wonderful to talk to. The prices are very reasonable and I hope I have to go back to the area in the future so I can stop at Byrd’s visit and grab another book.

Byrd’s Books can be reached by walking through the coffee shop, Molten Java, and heading up the stairs. It’s rather small and the woman behind the desk basically screamed her hello at me as I came into view. I don’t think you need to raise your voice to that decibel when you are greeting customers, but that’s just me. The staff was doing inventory while I was there, but it wasn’t too inconvenient. I was able to browse without being hindered. They have one whole section dedicated to authors from the area as well as books about the area. The selection of books is decent, but as an indie bookstore(as they advertise themselves), I expected less mainstream titles than what I saw. I’m sorry to say that I left here empty handed because the prices for most everything seem to be around the height of those at Barnes and Noble or Borders. I had hoped to find«a diamond in the rough», which I did not come across. As a frequenter of local indie and used bookstores, to say that I was disappointed is an understatement.
