Best French toast I’ve had at a restaurant by far. Food comes out quick and the servers are always there to refresh your coffee for you. And to the people complaining about the soda being small and only one refill… Just order coffee — you’ll never get to see the bottom of your cup!

Food would have been great! Had they let me go in. I’m currently in the parking lot and I will remain here until my family and friends finish their meal. Why? Because they have a shitty policy that not only must all party member be there right away but they were im told that they wouldn’t even give them a chair if I were to come in now! I had to stay in the car due to a medical condition I had to deal with before I could enter and they warned them that all party members MUSTBETHERERIGHTTHEN or they would lose the table. What if someone is trying to find parking? Or a mother is breastfeeding? Or someone with a condition comes up? Or you have a call and don’t want to be rude to other customers? Honestly management must be horrible for being this rude to even refuse to give a chair. Will they refuse a high chair for a mother who is changing their child in the car too? Don’t wait to find out. Eat somewhere else.

Good food and not over priced. Cream of Chicken Rice is very good. I expected a bit more for my Monte Cristo. A bit sloppy and nothing fancy.

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years. It’s my go to diner. The restaurant is located on a corner. There’s parking available on the side as well as in the front. They do close early(4pm) and weekends are packed but the wait isn’t too long. The owners are wonderful people. The wife is usually in the front greeting and seating people. The daughter is a waitress. The husband is in the kitchen calling out the food and also walks around talking with customers. My brother is in town from Texas and he wanted breakfast. We arrived around 11:15am on a Saturday and no wait. They sat us right away. A waitress walks around asking if anyone would like coffee. She gave us time to look over the menu and came back 10 mins later to take our order. I ordered a tuna melt and fries. It came with a choice or salad or soup. I love their soups so I asked for chicken noodle. A fews minutes later, she came with a complimentary basket of crackers and a roll. The bowl of soup is very large. I didn’t get a chance to finish because 5 mins after I received my soup, our food arrived. We were shocked as to how fast the service was. The fries were a little over done and what’s great is no salt on them. It was delicious and as my brother had said, «IHOP and Denny’s has nothing on this place.» You really can’t go wrong. They have a lot of options if you don’t want breakfast.

One of my favorite places to eat breakfast or lunch, I have never had a bad meal from this place. I stopped in today for brunch with family and as usual great service.

I haven’t been here in two years and I remembered why today. The waitress was super nice and I wish I could give her 5 stars all by herself. The owner, however, is a cheap asshole. They have next to nothing for vegetarians, so I just sub out chicken for avocado and I’m fine with it. So I go to order a chicken sandwich with avocado instead and get told there is an up charge. She confirmed it with the owner. I don’t care about a dollar or two when I’m adding guac or avocado on something. The problem here is it was a substitution. A cheaper substitution at that. So not only are they making money off of my entrée, they’re making another dollar off the avocado and saving money off of the chicken they didn’t have to put on my sandwich. I will go to Tastee Corner Café, Happy Buddah, Connie’s, really anywhere else from now on that doesn’t rip off their customers.

Maybe I got spoiled during the year I lived in Chicago, but Alexanders didn’t really impress me. Sure, we were seated right away(it was a weekday, so I would hope that would be the case)! Sure, our food came out quickly. But at the end of the day, I would only describe the experience as «A-OK.» Once we were seated, we had to wait maybe five minutes before anyone dropped by our table. We were thirsty, so this irked me a little. She dropped off a water carafe, so we served ourselves with water. When the water ran out, it took quite some time for her to notice and refill it. We ordered and our food came out not too long after. I couldn’t decide if this was good because we were hungry or bad because that means they didn’t put that much time into it. I got the bacon pancakes and I was disappointed by the dough to bacon ratio. There was barely any bacon! I will definitely stick to my bacon pancakes from another local brunch place. Despite my disappointment about the bacon pancakes, I have nothing against Alexanders. I love how convenient it is and I’m sure I’ll be back at some point for that fact alone. There was also nothing truly offputting about the food; this is your standard local brunch fare. The staff was also very friendly, which I appreciated. Also, they had lots of letters posted from kids, which I thought was a sweet touch.

Alexander’s is awesome because it’s within walking distance. After recently moving back to the suburbs from the city, one of the things I miss the most, hands down, is all the awesome brunch options. Alexander’s was my first foray into the brunch options of the western suburbs. We were seated immediately and our very friendly server brought us waters. She also brought out another water glass when she noticed we only were ordering water. I definitely appreciated this. There were a lot of sweet options that looked appealing to me, including variations on pancakes, Belgium waffles, and crepes. There were also whole grain pancakes as an option, which I also appreciated. I ended up ordering the fresh strawberry pancakes for $ 7.50(score!). I liked that the waitress double checked with me that I didn’t want the fresh strawberries with glaze option. I’m extremely picky about my fruit on pancakes because I hate sugary syrups and compote fruit. These pancakes had fresh fruit, like advertised. The only reason I’m giving this review three stars instead of four is because I actually wasn’t in the mood for sweet. I had wanted to get a skillet and I was excited there were a bunch of different options… until I saw that each comes with slices of American cheese. Like, I’m talking Kraft singles. That definitely made me lose my appetite for a skillet here! There weren’t any other cheese options. If Alexander’s steps up its cheese game, then it’s well-deserving of four stars for friendly service, good food, and good prices!

This is a great family run place and never disappoints. It has become a weekend morning ritual to go and have breakfast together with my wife there. Reasonable prices and solid portions of well cooked food. The serve staff is so friendly and the kitchen is very fast. I really enjoy the Southern Benedict. I know there are dozens of breakfast places in the area, but you will find that tis place will become one of your favorites if you give it a try. Parking can be a bit tight, but that’s par for the course in the area. Don’t let that stop you.

This place is delicious and very comfortable. The atmosphere is usually very loud because it’s busy usually. The décor is outdated but I think it adds character! One bonus is that the food arrives super fast!

My husband and I love this place, the service is so fast and everyone is friendly even when we came in 30 min before closing. I have been coming here for years and it is always good food and reasonably priced. I like that you can get 2 pancakes instead of toast if you wish and they allow me to switch mushrooms for spinach in the veggie skillet I frequently order. My coffee cup is always full and so is my belly when we leave.

We were on vacation and had to revisit one of our favorite breakfast places. We both had omelets. Mine was avocado and bacon my husband had sausage and cheese. They were both delicious. Didn’t have my phone to take pics but they looked as good as they tasted with hash browns and toast or pancakes your choice. Our waitress was attentive, but not overly. Kept our coffee cups full. So glad we made a point to stop in. We may go back one more time before heading home.

With most previous reviewers praising the food and prices I took my mother here for a Monday breakfast. We were promptly greeted, seated, and our waitress Donna came right over. Things were looking good so far. We ordered drinks. The first thing I noticed was there was a limit of ONE refill on soda and iced tea. Didn’t seem like a huge deal until I received a 12oz glass packed with ice. That was about 5oz of liquid beverage. For $ 2.00 I’d expect larger glasses and at lease two refills. We all know that the cost of the liquid to them per glass is under .10 cents so why the super cheap a$$ policy?!? Mom ordered a Stickney Skillet. The description sounded good. She got a greasy undercooked mess with two slices of Kraft cheese on top. We both love Kraft cheese but don’t really expect it as part of a quality dish at a restaurant. She ate half and gave up. Very disappointing. I ordered a Monte Christo sandwich that came with a cup of soup, fries, and half pickle. The soup I picked was Chicken Noodle. It contained chicken broth but no chicken and the pasta shells(noodles?) that were just over cooked mush. What a useless cup of «soup». The sandwich was marginal. The French toast bread was much too thin and provided little flavor. And the one thin slice of cheese did nothing to tell me it was there and the sandwich seemed just like a lump of room temperature turkey and ham. The fries weren’t bad and were hot when the plate arrived but were cold by the time Donna brought the ketchup I requested. So lets talk about our waitress Donna. She introduced herself right away but then we rarely saw her again. And when she did show up she called us «baby» and«sweety». Not very respectful. I can’t blame Donna for our terrible experience but she surely didn’t help it. Those that have read my other reviews know I’m a stickler for clean and functional rest rooms. The rest rooms here are possibly some of the worst I’ve seen. Graffiti etched in to the mirror and all over the metal partitions. The sink was all cracked and pretty aged. The room itself had grime buildup on the toilet, walls, and floors. The door handle to get out was sticky. There are no paper towels, just a room temperature hand blower. We know not every visitor washes their hands before exiting and since the door opens in with a handle I prefer to use a paper towel to open it so my hands remain clean having just been washed. Not an option here. I will not be returning here. Not even worth a second chance to me.

Cheap Breakfast and good. No complaints really. Kind of impersonal they give you a number like you are waiting at a deli instead of taking your name.

It is a really great diner/breakfast spot right in Berwyn. Me and my fiancé’ go there every other Sunday. We always have the cream of chicken soup. It’s awesome! They have some of the most delicious potato pancakes there as well. I’ve tried their pumpkin pancakes and they were delicious as well(though sadly they are seasonal as they only make them every year for Halloween and such). Every single time I go there, I have the Spartan Omelette. I definitely recommend it! The food is pretty darn good there. However, the only thing I would have to put a con on would be the customer service. Some of the ladies there lack customer service skills that would make the dining experience great. I know, I know. People might be thinking, «So what? It is just a diner, and this restaurant is not a downtown, Michelin Star eatery». Regardless, this is a customer service based place that should give great customer service, no matter the recognition. I have had 2 waitresses there that I think would of needed a few pointers on how to take care of a patron/s and making it right for them. To be specific, in both instances, the 2 waitresses have given us(me and my fiancé’) a bit of snarky attitudes, and also they would spend a bit more time on other tables, who had the same needs as us might I add. Perhaps the waitresses knew the other patrons, but that still is not acceptable. I will give it 3 stars for now. If the restaurant reads this, and works on the customer service, and I see it the next time I’m around, I’ll change it.

Ive always liked Alexander’s.I know I can always expect a good, fresh meal at a decent price. Good service everytime I’ve come here. Not my GOTO breakfast place but that has nothing to do with the food or service. Its that I have my personal places I like to eat at. Besides, UnilocalING makes it hard to stick to just the same olé same olé.
