Snapshot: Well-cared for furnishings and home décor at fair prices that drop on a monthly basis. Consignment and vintage shopping rarely go hand in hand so happily. The premise of Right Moves is simple. See something you like? The price on the tag is set for thirty days, and a 25% discount hits a month later, and 50% discount after sixty days. If it doesn’t sell by 90 days, out it goes. Cheek by jowl with the excellent Lunch Café, Right Moves will part a wise shopper with her money. The beau and I regularly windowshopped the changing displays, admiring ornate Italian porcelain and reproduction Tiffany lamps, gourmet cookware, and plump loveseats. We finally snuck in on our day off to explore the sprawling collection of estate items and vintage furnishings, dishware, and home décor. Don’t let your eyes deceive you, the shop is larger than first appears. Make sure to look at all levels and swing past the same section twice, else you might miss a lovely pair of leaded glass candlesticks or a retro leather and wood blotter for the waxed honey oak table underneath. Stock varies considerably by the week depending on the consigners, but at our recent visit, standouts included a beautiful oil portrait in baroque style; a large buffet with two-tone inlaid wood; and a host of cut glassware parents of a newborn just cannot justifiably repurpose for a cocktail party. End tables, coffee tables, and attractive chairs of all varieties were strongly represented. At any given time, the art collection on display includes a big variety of knick-knacks, framed paintings, and beautiful sculptures with a broad appeal from mid-century to neo-classical. With the price of framing and matting nowadays, purchasing a painting for the decadent frame might be more budget-conscious than not. Prices are quite fair, maybe a shade higher than the market average. Clearly staff has an eye for quality and carefully selects items without stains, dings or issues that compromise value. Solid wood abounds. Upholstery looked in good shape(though I’m no expert), and the furniture was all around attractive. We bought an attractive brass and green-bodied lamp for our guest room for about the same price we’d pay for one at IKEA, except this one happens to be ceramic with brass fittings, a sturdy shade, and an impressive designer stamped onto the bottom plate. The golden rule for shopping Right Moves: don’t wait on a piece you like. Stock can turn over quickly. While you’re waiting for that 25% or 50% markdown, someone else may swoop in to pick up your prize. Note: parking on Twelve Mile is possible, but go around Griffiths or behind the building for a much larger lot.

Great prices and lots of unique merchandise. I really enjoy my dining table that I purchased from there. Got a great deal on it!

Right Moves Consignment is a gem! I have driven past this store and always thought to myself«I need to stop in there». I finally went in and they had great items at great prices. I found a set of beautiful glass cut dessert plates, as well as two Drexel Heritage dressers. I decided to think about the items, stopped back on a Monday afternoon, the plates were gone, but i bought two beautiful dressers for our guest room that have a lot of life left in them once they are refinished. Lesson learned — if I see something I’d like to purchase, next time I won’t wait! The store is well organized and the items on display are clean. Now that I’ve been in the store, it is going to take some self-restraint on my part to not stop in every time i make a trip to Hiller’s
