Why is this place 4 stars? Just go a haircut that is so far from what i wanted it made me really question as to why I decided to go here and i also questioned if my barber even had a license to cut. It’s so bad that now i have to spend more money to get it fixed, great.

I had some time before I needed to go home, so I stopped in for a haircut. I wanted to chop off a lot of my long hair, so I asked for a shoulder haircut.
The lady was a bit distracted because she was on the phone, on hold. So I guess she didn’t make too much conversation with me. It was also one of the fastest haircuts I’ve ever had, and she had cut off a lot of hair as well. She was also a little bit rough with pulling my hair as well. It didn’t feel like she was super attentive to the details.
The haircut is pretty cheap though, like $ 16 or so not including tip.
I did receive some compliments from my friends, which is cool, but I’d probably go to another hair cut shop for a more attentive and gentle stylist.

Not worth the wait. My haircut was awful… After showering I can see how uneven the sides are and I don’t even know how to begin about the shape of my head now… Seriously worst haircut I’ve ever received. Only reason I tried this place out was because la petites down the street was too busy. Save $ 2 and go down the street instead

I go here every time I need my haircut, and every time it’s perfect! You might have to wait a bit but it’s definitely worth the wait. For a men’s haircut, it’s just $ 17 and it’s worth every penny.

Cheap, quick, don’t f your hair up if you give them clear instructions

I used to come here all the time for Sophie but I when I visited today, I found out she no longer works there. The woman who cut my hair today seemed nice, but didn’t really understand what I wanted. Does anyone know where Sophie is now???

I went in to World Cuts for a Brazillian wax. I’ve had several brazillians in my lifetime, and this one was definitely mediocre. But, it was 45 $ and convenient so that was nice. The woman who did it was very sweet and friendly, but she had very long hair and it wasn’t tied back so it got in the wax. Also she seemed nervous and this made her a little sloppy. Overall, I’d rate it around ⁴⁄₁₀.

Came here for my first Berkeley Brazilian, just looking for a place that would get the job done for a decent price. The place is nothing special, but the waxing was actually quite bad — took a while (about half an hour), not very thorough with a lot of hairs just broken off instead of pulled out, and the wax was hot enough to leave me with peeling skin for days. Plus, she left most of my backside untouched (i.e. hairy) — that’s not what I come to a professional for! I won’t be coming back for the waxing.

I have been here 3 times. The one star is for the decent haircut for the first time I went here. The last two times I went here, they gave me very bad haircuts. They indeed have some good barbers like the first one I had, but the chance is very low. So be careful!!!

Got a Brazilian wax here from Renee! It was my first time getting a wax and she was super efficient and patient. It was much less painful and much more quickly done than I expected!

I stumbled in here one day during my first semester of college after reading positive reviews online. Fast forward 5 years, and I still drive into Berkeley whenever I need a haircut. They take the time to ask you what kind of haircut you want, and actually ask some questions to make sure.
If you’re like me and sometimes can’t describe exactly what you want, they know how to describe different styles to get you.

I got a not-​terrible cut here a few weeks ago and brought my preteen daughter for a back to school cut today. Where to begin with how terrible it is… the shampoo tangled her hair and was a very uncomfortable experience, but would have been worth it for a decent haircut. Instead it is uneven (over an inch longer on one side), and choppy as heck! I mean, it looks really bad. I could have done a better job tying it in a ponytail and cutting it. It is NOT worth the low cost. Somehow this place developed a reputation for decent cuts at low prices– do not be fooled. Now we have to fix this damage before school starts and she is humiliated. I would give zero stars if I could.

The place to go in Berkeley for a cut, be sure to see Sophie.
She was able to fit me in with a full schedule and it came out perfect, it was only $ 16.00.

Ask for Sophie. I get my hair cut by her every time (so much that she recognizes me) and she does a better job than places that cost more than 4x as much. I always leave happy with my hair, unlike those salon experiences when you feel like they didn’t do what you wanted and you’re dying inside. I used to come here because it was a convenient location, but now that I’ve moved farther away, I come to Berkeley just to get my hair cut here. After having so many bad haircuts in my life, I’m very glad to have found Sophie. Very affordable too, less than $ 20 for a cut (female, very thick hair).

When I’m up in Berkeley for class, I generally need at least a haircut or two during the semester before I can get back to my normal hair dresser back home in SoCal so I was told to try World Cuts by some friends. After having a bad experience at another local haircut salon, I figured I would give World Cuts a shot and ended up making the right choice.
The staff is all super helpful, nice, and quick, which is something I value since I often have to go between classes. I have been about 4 – 5 times in the last two years and found that no matter which hairdresser I had, they always did my hair exactly how I wanted and made it look excellent. The price is $ 15 for a men’s haircut which is pretty reasonable given that you can’t get it at Great Clips for much under $ 12 in my experience.
World Cuts earns all 5 stars and I would highly recommend it to students as it is fast, easy, and decently priced. I’ve already sent some friends there and they converted to World Cuts because they were so happy with it!

World Cuts. I was surprised and delighted to find out a fellow film and media studies major works here at World Cuts when she is not attending classes at Cal. We met when she was a co-​facilitator in one of my Education 198 classes. And I was quite delighted to find out she is in my major at Cal. I ran into her on her way out of class as I was going in. I told her I would stop by for a haircut.
Two weeks after said run-​in on a hot sunny day, I patiently waited for about 20 – 25 minutes for her. I thought it would be much longer when I saw the names on the wait list. It seems some of the people on the list left. I was very happy when I was able to get in and sit in her chair. We were able to talk about film and media studies, post-​graduate plans and studies, and other related topics under the sun.
I was beyond delighted getting my hair cut with the help of my fellow Golden Bear aand her scissors. World Cuts is reasonably priced, similar competitive pricing as the brand hair salons. I am going to go back ASAP as it is approaching the four-​week mark. I want the hair cut much shorter – into a total pixie cut.
I read the other Unilocal!reviews before coming here. I was delighted to see that fellow Golden Bear and Unilocaler Rob L. used to get his haircut here during his undergraduate days. I am sure the ladies here miss you too, Rob L.

I had both my shortest and worst haircut in recent memory at World Cuts recently. I was looking to get my haircut on Sunday, showed up at this place at opening time, and was out within 20 minutes and $ 20 poorer after tip.
The woman that cut my hair moved at a blistering speed. She wasn’t making conversation and was sweating quite profusely. I appreciated the pace, but when I got home I realized that I had received what was probably the sloppiest haircut of my adult life. Lots of weird spots where the clippers ended and the scissors began, and the scissors work was uneven in several spots.
I blame myself partially for not catching this in the barber’s seat. But only partially.
Don’t think I’ll be back.

Day before school, and we knew there would be a rush. They open at 10:30 and we got there at 10:25! Once it was 10:32, about eight more people came in after us for their hair cuts. The stylists are extremely nice, helpful, and willing to listen.
$ 16 for a male hair cut.

Walked into World Cuts this past weekend without an appointment and was able to get a seat right away. Sopheak gave me my haircut and I cannot recommend her enough. I showed her a photo of how I wanted my hair cut and with just a quick glance she was able to tell me that she’d be able to do it. I’m usually not the talkative type when getting a hair cut, but Sopheak is super fun to talk to. Haircut was quick, and exactly what I wanted. Highly recommended for $ 16.
