I was walking around Berkeley looking around and wondering what new place I can try. I am always excited about the city because it has so many different food options. I had walked about this place a couple of times already. I was also so hesitant because the times I did pass by I never saw a lot of people. But the day was different, so I mustered up the courage and went in. The building was clean and the music was nice. I walked up to one of the people working there. They told took my go to order which is chicken tikka masala and naan. I sat down and waited. The wait time didn’t take too long. I was given my meal fairly quickly. The meal was so hot. It was fresh. I enjoyed everything. It was heavy for me. I couldn’t finish the meal. The service was nice. I loved how attentive the man was to me. Also, loved listening to him and the chef talk. It was lovely. Definitely will return. Four stars. One star down because my table wasn’t clean until I asked them to clean it.

Good food! Come chow down! Came by this place with my girl Barbz, she said she wanted Indian food and here we were, once we sipped on the water we smelled something fishy! The water was from the tap! But the food was delicious yum! We ordered the chicken tikka Masala and nan. The nan are huge! I give this place a 4⁄5

I believe in giving this place a 4.5 Stars. It is under new management from Tandoor Curry Restaurant in Fremont. When I am not familiar with a restaurant, I usual try Yellow Dal. If it is good, I try other items. When it comes to Saag Paneer, Yellow Dal, Lamb Biryani, and Saag Dal; they make it with the right spiciness and taste. Please disregard the previous negative reviews. The reason for the minus star, the bathroom looks like a bathroom in an Emerging Economy nation. The interior decoration needs redoing.

Pretty flavorful food and the manager fought off an aggressive crazy person! Definitely the Indian spot to go to at 10pm.

On a whim, my bf and I looked through this place’s new menu. Everything sounded really good so we checked out the Unilocal. Two reviews posted that same night were super positive. We decided we go by with a friend before our night out. Overall, the food was great and really fresh. I got the chicken karahi, he got the chicken tikka masala, our friend got chana masala, naan, rice, and samosas to start. The samosas were a tasty snack! The karahi was super tasty, a lot of spices, topped with fresh ginger, and tender chicken. My bf thought the chicken tikka masala was amazing! Super flavorful! My friend thought the chana was good and super affordable. The naan was great, tender and fluffy. The basmati was certainly a solid side for the karahi. The service was excellent — they were super friendly and eager to have people try their food. Definitely worth checking out and I will be back. I’m relieved that this means I won’t have to go to southside anymore for Indian.

Highly recommend the takeout here. The food is delicious! The restaurant experience leaves a lot(ok… everything) to be desired, but the food is absolutely worth it. We’ve been diligently sampling Berkeley Indian food and avoided this unappealing and inconvenient location, but we decided to try it anyway. After our second visit, we don’t want to go anywhere else, but we’ll only do take out.

This evening I drove to Café By The Bay in Pt. Richmond eager for some of the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten. Imagine my disappointment to find a sign on the door saying they’d moved to Berkeley! Nooooooo! Seems the AMAZINGLYTALENTED chef is now cooking here, at Tikka Korner. I’m really bummed that they’ve chosen to take over a restaurant with little to no parking however. I’ll just pray very earnestly to the parking gods before every visit I guess and hope for the best. If you’re lucky enough to live near Tikka Korner, go! You will not be disappointed, I can assure you of that.

There’s a new owner — new cook — new approach! This is a brand new restaurant as of August 2015. They have a full menu now! You ask for a main dish, chicken, lamb, fish or vegetarian, and it comes with rice, vegetables and hot fresh Naan bread. The price is reasonable and in fact it’s a better deal than most places in the Downtown. And the people are enthusiastic and friendly so it’s a guarantee I’ll be back.

New owner and food much better. Cooked to order and no longer have a buffet. Best fresh Naan. Great Tikka Masala.

Under new ownership and this place blows. Tried to give it a chance twice, but was disappointed both times. How can you be an Indian/Pakistani restaurant and NOT have naan? As food disappeared from the trays they never replenished them with fresh food… I mean never, even when it was obvious that there was little to nothing left. During the last visit, the guy just sat behind the food counter daydreaming. The salad bar was a joke. I doubt this place will be in business very long.

Ugh what a disappointment why did I even try? My roommates convinced me to go to his favorite indian buffet and so I disregarded the insanely low Unilocal reviews and blindly started serving myself food. The chicken tikka masala was mostly sauce and little to none of chicken. It lacked flavor, the basmati rice was sort of hard and it didn’t taste fresh even though the waiter kept refilling the rice. The spinach was spicy but flavorless. The nan tasted store bought and warmed up. I’m mostly giving this place 2 stars because of the service. The guy was nice and kept cleaning the counter and refilling the food.

I wanted to like this place… But service was just so blah. I came across this place because Biryani house closed(nooooo), and it was the only indian place in downtown Shattuck with operational kitchen before 5pm. I had the mission of getting food for a meeting of 10 – 15 people. So I phone them ~2pm asking if they prepared takeout food for large groups, to which they said yes, so I started giving them a list of what I wanted. Half way the phone switches from the male attendant to a female attendant(language barrier I guess?).So, I repeat my order, and she tell me they don’t have anything with paneer. Oh well, substitute should be fine right?(at this point, a little odd but I didn’t think much. I thought paneer is pretty standard in indian restaurants). Told them I’d be picking stuff up at 4:45pm. And then all the stars were gone when I arrive at 445pm. The food nowhere to be seen. The lady looks at me and says«I wasn’t sure if you wanted all of them in a box or separate…»… Ok? Fine. I told them as long as the same items ordered were in the same boxes it’s fine. She nods, and hands me a bunch of plastic take out box and points at me towards their buffet. Uhhhh okay? I guess I have to do that myself? There is a reason why I called two hours earlier you know. My friend and I go fill about 4 boxes of food in a state of confusion. So each box is supposed to come with two naans. The lady gives me one wrapped up naan for one of the boxes and tells me I’ll have to wait for the rest of the naan… We just spent time filling food in boxes that we hoped she’d do before we arrived. Don’t have time to wait, missus. But the idea of fresh naan sounds too enticing so we give it a few minutes, only for the man(the cook I guess) to come out and say«sorry we can’t make the naan. There is no eggs». What. Is that supposed to be my problem?! I called you guys earlier two hours earlier… Ok so I asked them to give us another box of rice for no charge. They were ok with that. I paid and left. The food was cheap ish(each box was 11 $ and you can fill it with anything in the buffet). Passable, not amazing. Nobody at the meeting complained, so I guess the food is fine lol. But seriously, that kind of service? Not returning. PS– edited for clarify.

Terrible service. They were rude and they forgot to bring us naan despite serving lots of naan to the tables around us. When I went to pay with a card(i had seen the Square symbol on the door when I came in) the lady insisted i pay with cash(on a $ 20 order). She seemed to be on her iphone talking to a friend so maybe she couldn’t be bothered to stop and slide my card. The food was good, naan(when we got it) was fresh and hot. No dessert on the buffet and the tikka masala was tasty but full of bones. If you’re an impoverished student, the buffet deal is great and you probably won’t mind that the napkins are a self-serve roll of toilet paper hanging over the utensils. For anyone else, $ 10 seems a bit steep for this kind of place. Won’t be returning.

So I came here with my parents and we received such great service! The food was mediocre, except the naan and tandoori chicken which were both very good. All-you-can-eat lunch for $ 9.99 and I think it’s worth it. The naan is freshly made and pairs very well with the tandoori chicken. We asked for more tandoori chicken and within 10 minutes, the worker brought it to our table. The chicken tikka masala is okay, not that great. There are a variety of vegetable dishes which are worth trying. I think this place can be a hit or miss but the fresh naan and tandoori chicken is always a hit!

This was my first time here, and I have to say it was a great experience. I instantly found curb side parking and as soon as I walked through the door, the host greeted and seated us. He returned moments later with garlic Naan and told us to help ourselves. By the time we made it back to the table, he had a glass of mango lassi waiting for me, which was perfect, not too thick and ice cold. The buffet offers at least 5 options for curry and vindaloo, which is great, considering that you will want to taste them all. The staff is nice and the prices are reasonable. I will definitely be back again.

Unilocal isn’t allowing me to give a zero or negative-star rating, so 1 it is. Got home from work and was starving, and as a young Indian female, I tend to have naan cravings. And curry cravings. On a whim, I decided to go to this place. I don’t know why the hell I decided to go here, as a restaurant with its name written on a large banner in Calibri is bound to suck, but whatever. Onto the food: the naan was paper-thin and crunchy. If you drop it on your plate, you will hear a *thud* sound. Every single curry was disgusting. I swear they just used Campbell’s canned tomato soup to make gravy and curry sauce for each dish. The navratan korma was overly sweet and the vegetables were mush, the tikka masala was dry and tasteless, and the chole were dry as well. Normally when I’m so hungry to the point I can’t think, any food will satisfy me and I won’t complain. Tikka Korner proved me wrong. Writing this review made me just want to cry. The only reason you should go to this place is if you want to get rid of a pesky date or something, but I wouldn’t even wish a meal at this place upon my worst enemy.

Never will I again. True Story: The decision to eat at Tikka Korner came from a coin toss. Tikka Korner is literally across the street from another Indian buffet, Viceroy Indian Cuisine — a buddy and I had to flip a coin to choose our destiny. Tikka Korner won the coin toss, but we were losers — their food was garbage. We started our buffet around 11:45 am(don’t judge me), 3 solid plates of Egg Curry, Chicken Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, Aloo Mattar, Pakora, Naan, Raita, Mint and Sweet Chutney. Egg Curry — best thing on the menu because you can’t really screw up hard-boiled eggs drenched in curry. Chicken Curry — 2nd best thing at the buffet because you can’t really screw up slow-cooked chicken drenched in curry for hours. Chicken Tikka Masala — Dry. I didn’t think it was possible to serve dry chicken in a soggy dish like Chicken Tikka Masala, but they did. Tandoori Chicken — Dry, think tandoori chicken jersey. Mint Chutney — Who reviews mint chutney? I’m about to. #Trendsetter. This mint chutney was more like mint water. Way too much liquid, water’d down chutney, not much flavor, disappointed. *A lot of hate in this review. I’m not done. Went to the bathroom for my standard post-Indian meal hand wash to get rid of the curried fingernails. I saw a disgusting toilet bowl, and a few dead baby cockroaches on the wall — WTF??? Paid my $ 6.99 + Tax and got the f*&k outta there! Lastly, it’s now 11:22pm, I’m finally comfortable from the 3 plates of sickness I ate. Why did I eat 3 plates of trashy food? It’s not easy to look this good.
