Came here with a group of 7. Food was alright and decently priced. My biggest complaint here is the service. Our waitress dramatically sighed and rolled her eyes when taking our orders, like we were wasting her time when there was only 1 other table in the restaurant, and she literally threw down our plates of food when they arrived. When we didn’t immediately respond when she called out a plate(some of us had ordered the same dishes), she went back to sighing and eye-rolling and began randomly tossing plates onto the tables to the wrong people(pieces of meat and vegetable actually bounced off the plates onto the table as a result of her carelessness). I understand serving large groups can be difficult, but this was excessive, in my opinion. Worst of all, because of our party size, we were forced to pay 15% automatic gratuity. We tipped this waitress really well to basically throw our food down to us. Probably won’t be back, seeing as there are plenty of other Thai places nearby.

If you’re into spicy food, definitely try their Pad Kee Mow. The Thai Iced Tea is also a must!

Best Thai restaurant in the Bay Area! Make sure to save some room for dessert :) (fried banana with coconut ice cream!)

One of my fav Thai restaurants in Berkeley. You can never go wrong with their pad thai, pad see ew or pad kee mao. I’ve also heard amazing things about their fried chicken over fried rice. –1 star that they can’t ever split the check so it’s sometimes an inconvenience when I’m eating with a group of people and we have to figure out exactly how much each person has to pay but other than that, if you’re looking for a sit-down Thai restaurant, this is the place to be! If you’re looking for cheap, grab and go style, Thai basil in asian ghetto ;)

Racha has been one of the most intriguing restaurants in Berkeley for me… But not for reasons that you might guess. I’m giving this place a 3 star rating because this place is where I’ve had the most polarizing dining experiences. The best pad thai I’ve had in Berkeley, I got from a take out order at Racha. On the other hand, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in Berkeley has also been at Racha, where there was a solid 55 minute wait from sit down to eating, and my pad see ew that time also happened to be one of the worst I’ve had(lukewarm and excessively oily). However, the time immediately following that experience their pad see ew and service resumed to an easy 4 stars. I’ve tried the fried chicken over fried rice alot, and no two times has it tasted the same, with varying levels of «Woo that was good» to «Why did I come back here». So I’d say try this place out if you are bored, have a craving for Thai food, and think Thai Noodle 2 is too expensive. Who knows, you might be surprised(for better or for worse). Recommendations include the beef boat noodle, fried chicken over fried rice, pad see ew, and pad thai.

Best Thai restaurant in berkeley. The sauce in all pan fried noodle dishes are marinated really well. Great service and they have fried ice cream.

My go-to place for solid Thai food — it’s usually a decision I have to make between Racha’s and Thai Noodle. I always get the pad thai with barbecue pork(which I can only get here) although it tastes a little different from time to time. I should probably try more of their other foods. The service is really good in general. The only thing I would say is that paying is difficult if you’re here with a fairly large group of people and some of your friends don’t have Venmo or cash. There’s a limit to how many cards you can use to pay for your food, but you can pay for your own food with cash. The place is generally kept clean, and there’s space in the back for bigger groups so it’s great for big student org. dinners or larger social events!

All time favorite Thai place. Their Pad Tai? How about, Tai die for. Their Pad Kee Mao? Try, ‘Kee to Mao Heart’. Your casual first tinder date will take a turn for the ages as the aphrodisiac effect of Racha’s Thai Ice Tea will light the fires between you two, or three. There will be nothing casual about it, and your roommates will resent you for it. Need to break up with the crazy that won’t let go? Do it over some dumplings, because you don’t want your break up to be a dump on your day. Is your lover trying to break up with you? Drink some Racha’s Thai Ice Tea together, and laugh as they become pudding in your hands.

My favorite green curry around! I usually get it ala carte with a side of sticky rice. They also offer a smaller portion of curry and rice as a plate, which I didn’t know so make sure to specify when ordering :) I’ve also had the pad thai, pad see ew, and the spicy noodles. All amazing and pretty inexpensive.

The food: At Racha’s the portions are large, the food is decently priced for the amount of food they give you, and the service is fairly fast(the longest I’ve waited for food has been 10 minutes), and that’s when the restaurant was packed. To be honest, if you order one of the dishes of the main menu, the food can feel pretty greasy — but it really hits the spot if that’s what you’re looking for. The food is better than average, but I really liked their Thai ice tea! There are better Thai restaurants in Berkeley, but Racha’s really hits the spot. Their pad see ew was my favorite dish, and there’s always enough for leftovers. If you’re ever on Southside and craving good Thai food, definitely come here. Also, if you re a tofu fan, Racha’s does do a good job of making their tofu. The atmosphere: Even during busy hours, if you’re willing to wait 10 minutes, you’ll probably find a spot here. They do have plenty of tables and the staff is accommodating to groups. All the waitresses here are nice and fairly easy to flag down. I recommend: the Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, and the pumpkin curry.

I’ve been coming back to Racha more frequently and trying other dishes. Since my original review was only based one 3 dishes, I’ve had to change my rating to 4 stars instead of 3. Their pad thai is hands down one of the best in the area. The sauce is very flavorful and they can make it nice and spicy. The crispy tofu salad is another one of my favorites. It’s light and refreshing with a blast of flavor. What takes the cake is their Chicken, cashew dish. I can’t remember what the name is off the top of my head right now, but the sauce is so freakin’ good. I can just eat that with rice all day long. Parking around the area can be a pain, so circle around in the neighborhoods a few times.

The service was very slow. maybe we went there a bit late, like 8ish? But we waited for so long to get the food. But the taste was not bad, thankfully. I had pad Thai, not too oily but still strong flavored.

Racha Café is always such a busy place at night. It takes awhile to be seated and attended to by the server. However, the food is always very good! My favorite is their Thai BBQ chicken fried rice plate. The chicken was made to perfection and moist with flavor. Even the fried rice was one of the best I had. It had plenty of ingredients inside, such as the typical peas, carrots, and egg but it also included tomatoes. I devoured it all and was very satisfied. I am definitely going to order that again. I’ve tried their Pad Thai, but compared to the Thai BBQ chicken fried rice, I’d say the chicken is superb.

Pad see ew was wayy too salty. Go over to Thai Basil a few blocks over even if the line is longer.

I would never go to this place again. We had dinner yesterday. The food came out at different times and very salty. The waitress came once to fill our water. At the end, the check showed 18% gratuity, which they didn’t deserve. On top of that, they also charged 9.5% tax including the 18% gratuity. In effect, the gratuity was a little less than 20%. I believe in tipping for good service, not 18% just to fill your water once. I certainly don’t agree paying sales tax for gratuity. Does the Franchise Tax Board know about this?

Best thai restaurant in Berkeley college town by far. I never understood what the big deal was about other places in the area because this is the best one. I recommend their fried chicken fried rice or their green curry fried rice. You honestly can’t go wrong with either! They also have a back room in case you have a large party. It’s so hard to find a place for large groups in Berkeley so I definitely appreciate that. Seriously, I don’t understand why more people don’t come here. I highly recommend it and you won’t regret it!

I came here with a group of about 12 people and we sat in the back. I like how they had a back room because it is perfect for large parties. This place does Togo, but the seating is also really comfortable. I ordered the fried chicken over the chicken fried rice and it was really good. The dish was about $ 9. Everything was priced very fairly. The chicken was nicely flavored. The fried rice was perfect as well. The portions are also a good size. The waiter were really good and they constantly checked on us. They came around multiple times to refill our water jug. I had a really time at Racha’s and I would come back! The only thing is that it is farther compared to restaurants at Asian ghetto.

Favorite Thai restaurant in Berkeley. This was my place to go to if I was in need of some good comfort Thai food. The noodle soups were usually a go-to for me. I think I’ve tried every one. The flavor and portion size are excellent. They’re curries and pan fried noodles are also very good. Never watery or chewy, always on point. Sometimes if we were feeling it, my roommate and I would come here and order the fried ice cream dessert. Oh. Man. Somehow they got it perfect everytime. I’ve never been to another restaurant that nail it like they do. Ambiance: 3⁄5 Food: 5⁄5 Service: 4⁄5(Sometimes they were slow depending on the crowd)

As a person who enjoys Thai food and has been to Thailand, what a disappointment. I feel like there’s very little good Thai food in Berkeley and this just reinforces that notion. I usually get vegetarian food when I eat Thai because they just make amazing vegetarian fried rice and noodles and curries. I had a group of 8 and we were hunting for some dinner at around 7 pm on a Thursday. We went to around 5 restaurants yet all were full. Except racha. And I can see why. First, it takes forever for our orders to be taken and forever for our food to come out. Seriously, we waiting about 10 minutes without our orders being taken and another good 15 before our food came out. Not cool. All of us either ordered curry, fried rice, or the drunken noodles. This was based on my recommendation since those dishes are my favorite Thai dishes to order in a restaurant. It was just okay. The food wasn’t horrible, but the portions were a little small for the price and the food wasn’t mind blowing. After waiting a good 20 or more minutes. Boo. I wouldn’t come back. I guess I’ll have to hunt for other delicious Thai food in Berkeley. *sigh*

If you’re looking for decent Thai food and reasonable prices, you’re at the right place. A meal for two came to $ 15, including tax. What a steal! This is a great place to order family-style: pick up a few dishes so you can sample different tastes. Sharing is caring! The **Pad See-Ew** had been highly recommended by a few friends so I ordered the dish with beef. My dining companion chose the **Green Curry** with chicken. The Pad See-Ew lived up to the hype and was one of the better renditions I’ve had of this dish. Thanks for the recommendation, everyone! The Green Curry was decent, but I may not be the best judge since I’m not really a fan of the green curry flavor. The ambiance is typical for a Berkeley establishment: full of students, a little crowded, and noisy. Definitely a popular spot where you’ll have to wait for dinner unless you get there early. At 5pm there was no line; by 6pm it was completely packed. TIP: Get here early before peak dinner hours!
