Great view!!! Pleasant atmosphere! $ 85+ for lunch included: 2 kids grilled cheese sandwiches, 1 milk 1 soft beverage 1 small tasty salad 1 disgusting chicken sandwich which contained, along with the burnt«chicken,» 2 pieces of nylon twine. I showed the twine(depicted in my photo upload) to our waiter, and he said to himself, «I have to ask the guys about that.» I said, «good thing I didn’t swallow them!» .as he went off. He never mentioned it again. No «Sorry about that.» No «Let me take that off your bill.» (I don’t expect this, but have experienced it for lesser problems elsewhere.) Ok!

After staying in the hotel many times and often having a drink here, I finally got a chance to grab dinner here. Great menu executed well. It is pretty crowded and a little loud so depending on the occasion, this may or may not be the place for you. We are out of towners, but we frequent this hotel. I would consider this more often for a place to grab a meal.

This bar at the Claremont Hotel was just fine. Of course, the open views of the Bay were very cool even though it was too cold of a day for me to go out on the patio. Mind you, I didn’t get any food and just ordered some beers. The selection was limited but I think they had more wine to offer. The service was just fine too. Nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about either. The prices seemed a bit on the high side so I have to knock it down to a 3 star for now.

Closed until September/under an 80 million dollar renovation. Paragons’s menu merged with Meritage menu. Unfortunately, Meritage does not have outdoor seating but still has stunning views. Adieu for now.

This place is absolutely amazing!!! I got the Ravioli(forgot the exact name but it was the only ravioli on the menu) and I ate it all!(Which is usually hard with a pasta dish) This was not too heavy and had the most indescribable taste. I was lucky enough to get to eat here but unfortunately they are now closed for renovation for the next 6 months! It’s a must to try it once they re-open

I’ve been coming here for a while and it’s been a staple Bay Area restaurant(for me at least). Their chicken, spinach and mac n cheese dish is a pretty solid deal for 28 bucks. It’s juicy, healthy and you get a balance of everything. If you go to the bar make sure you ask for David, he makes the best drinks. But if you want to come here, you’ll have to wait 6 months or so because they’re doing a pretty hefty remodel. Cant wait for your return, Paragon. Until next time

Located at the Claremont Hotel and Spa in Berkeley. Very pricey, prime view lovely from the deck. I had the Feng Shui cocktail and Dungeness Crab Salad and heartily recommend both. We requested bread and they brought a whole baguette and it was amazing. Service was very good. Definitely plan to go back.

I come here often usually to celebrate a bday or if it is a beautiful day and i want to see a gorgeous view. I have been here probably a dozen times over the last 6 years. They used to have the most amazing calamari… But unfortunately it is no longer the same. Drinks are solid here but the food menu has now changed and is a bit overpriced for bar food. Last time we came we had a cheese platter which had a nice selection of cheese but not a lot of card or fruit to pair with it. This is a great stop if you are making your way through the Caldecott. It is absolutely necessary you grab a seat on the balcony– otherwise it would be a waste of time to dine here at all. The parking fees are way too high, even with validation. They really should make it free for patrons if the restaurants too. After i eat i always roam the lobby of the hotel since it is so beautiful…

Paragon is a nice spot to watch the sunset while enjoying cocktails and dinner. We have been coming here for years. Sometime I meet people here for lunch so it feels like a mini vacation in the middle of the day. It can get crowded on the weekends and on the patio. Make reservations on Open Table or through the hotel. The food is good. Their food is generally more comfort food than gourmet. They raised their prices and it is expensive. A burger is more than $ 20.

A smile greets you and you are immediately charmed by the view. The food is not an afterthought with the best ingredients that are available. We were greeted like old friends! Did I tell you about the view???

With a beautiful view of the city from the deck it is hard to review any other part of this restaurant experience. I would come back here again and again for the view! While you are glancing at the beautiful view you will notice that they have numerous drink options including a good wine list and a variety of beer! The food is also good too! We had some oysters on the half shell for appetizers, and I had a crab salad. To round out the experience the service was spot on as well! Come here for the view you won’t be disappointed!

We had lunch on a Sunday and sat outside. The food was very good. Had the cheese board, gazpacho soup, ahi tuna and ravioli and cocktails. Our server was ok. The Paragon manager Lisa saw that it was our 25th wedding anniversary. She presented us with a spectacular dessert sampler dish, with our names and Happy 25th Anniversary written around the dish in chocolate. It was simply top notch(yes, I cried) The food and view were great. The service was ok. The kindness of the manager and they attention to quality and detail by the chef made it a very special and memorable anniversary lunch.

Wanted to sit on the patio but it was way too cold. If you’re able to visit on a nice night, I’d highly recommend outdoor seating. Starters: Half dozen oysters — Real delicious — Butter Dipping Sauce didn’t overwhelm the oyster, rather complimented it. Drinks Mojito Grande — Very refreshing — Well balanced Meals: Ahi Salad — Ordered w/o avocado and received w/o avocado(major plus) — Fish was high grade and you could definitely tell by the texture and taste — Dressing was delicious Neiman Ranch Burger w/garlic fries — Ordered with veggies on the side — Impressive amount of bacon — Medium rare was on point — Garlic fries was spot on Would I go back? Yes I would.

I spent most of the day at the Claremont spa for the Hawaiian Retreat Spa Treatment and it was magical! Part of the deal is I get lunch either poolside at the club or at The Paragon. I chose the Paragon and glad I did! The service throughout the entire hotel and club is amazing!!! You could be walking alone in the halls, lobby’s and elevators and the staff all make sure to get your attention and say hello! Love it! They’re not phones either! From the moment I arrived to the restaurant I was greeted graciously and sat down immediately! Thy said I can have whatever I like and even the tip was already taken care of! Unfortunately, I only ate the ahi tuna and the avocado the rest was a bit sourly for me… and although I’m not a fennel gal this was yummy! No complaints here the bread was enough to help balance the textures and salt. My server was awesome as was the hostess, I will come back for dinner with hubby next time. Love their sun deck with a view and their bar! Love this place and the service all around is excellent!

That patio though… Came here on Saturday when it was 75 degrees with nothing but blue skies and sunshine — amazing! The restaurant is set right in the historic Claremont Hotel and the patio is one of the best in the area. We had to wait about 30 minutes to get a seat outside but it was well worth it. I almost got a sun burn in January… isn’t it great to be a Californian? We ordered glasses of Prosecco and a couple of appetizers because we had dinner plans later on in the evening. The cheese board comes with an assortment of delicious cheeses along with bread crackers, marcona almonds and some apple jam. Basically the best combination ever. Although nobody ever told us the names of types of the cheeses and the menu did not specify either, so it was a guessing game! We also ordered the wings which were fried and zesty served with a ranch-dill dipping sauce. My only complaint here is that the service was not extremely impressive. It took the host awhile to greet us in any way. We had a round of drinks at the bar first, which was fine. But when we got out to the patio it took awhile to get our second round. And then our server disappeared forever when we wanted the check. Luckily the patio and food was fantastic so four stars it is!

Paragon is definitely a spot to revisit, especially on a late Friday afternoon. Set in The Claremont Hotel in a gorgeous part of Berkeley, the entire property is part of the experience. It is definitely the«cool» place in the rather traditional hotel but, somehow you pick up that it’s definitely an «in place» for great bar food and a well stocked bar. We had a very nice lunch, considering we are vegan and they had to «tailor» something for us, in my case, a kale and butternut squash salad with pickled shallots and sour cherries. I would have liked a piece of bread with it but, none was offered, though the staff is very attentive, young and attractive. Prices are definitely on the high side but, Paragon has a feeling of refinement and«sense of place» that somehow made it feel worth it. We will be back.

Considering the stunning views and posh address of Paragon(at the Claremont Hotel), the prices are really quite reasonable. You’d expect to get ripped off at the place like this right? Wrong. It’s pretty on par with places down the hill. Love sitting on the patio and enjoying the view straight across the Bay to SF on a clear day. The food quality is great, definitely has a fine dining /I’m on vacation feel. Everyone around us was ordering martinis, the glasses filled all the way to the brim. Seems like the best value beverage here! Service was the only let-down. Not super attentive, but maybe they just assume everyone here is on vacation, and not in a hurry to get their food or pay their bill. Could be worse. All in all, an amazing local getaway. Yes, you have to pay a little bit for parking(don’t forget to get validated) but it’s worth the feeling of being far far away from the daily grind.

PROS: — Beautiful view! Better in person than in pictures — Delicious mussels with herb butter and white wine! It was seriously addicting. Dipped our free bread in it too! — Great crunchy garlic fries! We would also dip our garlic fries in the mussel sauce lol — Yummy ice cream sandwich with chocolate dip! CONS: — Grilled chicken caprese was just ok — Expensive.sandwich was $ 16. Entrees are $ 26 – 32. OVERALL: You’re paying expensive food for the view, not the quality. I tried my sister’s seared tuna and the sauce was strange, didn’t complement the tuna so well. My mom’s pasta was okay, and my dad’s salmon was good, but it was expensive and you can’t go wrong with salmon. I’d recommend coming here for drinks, appetizers, and the view.

Dinner with The Sibling and The Mother at Paragon Restaurant & Bar at the Claremont Hotel. I could get used to dining here. The Sibling’s spouse was out of town. Grr888! Time for The Immediate Family Time. The Sibling suggested we come here for a Monday evening dinner. It has been ages since I have been here, last time I was here, I had a spa day here courtesy of ma famille and I attended a fund raising dinner gratis. And Paragon Restaurant & Bar here is a new restaurant to me. It was lively for a Monday night. And thank goodness The Sibling made reservations. We were seated ASAP inside near one of the windows. The shades were drawn because it was still light, bright and muggy. The Family Dinner. The Mother had the Paragon Burger with shoestring type fries. The Sibling had lamb chops with garlic puréed potatoes and broccoli. And me, I had the ribeye steak rare with roasted potatoes and turnips. And it was rare all right, not raw yet juicy. I savored every single bite, best rare steak ever! And for dessert, I had chocolate mousse hazelnut with raspberry coulis. I savored every bite of dessert too! The service was first-rate. The servers were very attentive and much to my delight, they made sure the water carafe was refilled so we could serve ourselves water. Oh yes, I would definitely welcome another opportunity to dine here again at Paragon Restaurant & Bar. Bön appetit!
