We had the misfortune of actually staying at a Knights Inn in Berkeley, a Wyndham Hotel in the middle of May this year. We booked our room online that very day, early, using a credit card. We got in about 10 p.m., and I was told by the front desk after a long drive into a bad neighborhood none the less, that our room had been cancelled//reservations were cancelled. Evidently there’s this mysterious policy that is not in print anywhere(look on Knights Inn Site… it says your room is guaranteed with a credit card in the FAQ, which is what we were expecting) that there is a 6 p.m. cancellation policy that if you don’t arrive or call after 6 p.m. then your room is cancelled? They were trying to defend this policy, that does not exist online or in any emails, or screenshots of confirmations that I received. What is customary, and what is stated in my screenshot and confirmations from Wyndham, Knights Inn, is that if you do not cancel by 6 then you will be charged for the room. Instead, they cancelled my room. As the FAQ says online, your room is guaranteed with a credit card, so that’s what I was expecting, since I entered it online. They cancelled us and defended their actions. Finally, they«found» a smoke filled room with one small bed that barely fit my entire family, which they mention this room right away… they came up with it 20 minutes later, as we were sitting in the parking lot trying to figure out where we were going to sleep, near the Amtrak that we had to catch the next morning. It was a truly horrible experience, and talking to customer service wasn’t any better. I got very upset I admit, but at the same time can you blame me? No one is listening, no one cares. We were charged the same amount as if we were staying at the Grand Hyatt Manchester in San Diego for one night in a small room than what I originally booked. I asked if they were going to apply my points and my AAA discount, and they told me no, I was a cancellation… even though I had no intention of canceling and that’s why I use my credit card in the first place. It was horrible. Never again

I’m a fan! The place is clean, value for money, and the receptionist who was only three weeks into the job was nice and sincere. There is 24 hour room service, and our room came with a hairdryer, fridge, microwave, coffee machine, television, and heater! The rooms are well designed, with outlets everywhere.

Steer clear. Dishonest business practices and poor management. I reserved a room for an employee and they added a day to my request, charged the entire stay at the time of check-in even when my employee notified them they would not be staying the entire time they refused to refund the card. After numerous attempts at clearing the discrepancy up through the hotel themselves I was forced to contact Wyndam Hotels directly. They were able to help me out but it was way too many hoops to jump through over a blatant attempt to overcharge us. After speaking to other hotels in the area, their staff is well aware of this hotel’s practices/management and cautioned us not to stay here. If you do choose to stay here don’t say I didn’t warn you.

When trying to get a room the people were being rude. This place looks okay in the inside until I saw a big brown bug stuck behind the broken light switch trying to get out. disgusting.

There is a reason this place has such a low rating and I’m surprised they’re actually still around doing business. The people that run the place are extremely shady. Here’s my story with them… I rented a room because I saw a picture online of the interior and thought it would go great for a film project I had to shoot for school. When I got there I had 3 people show up to help me shoot my actor. They said no visitors allowed when they saw me greet them. No where did it say that when I booked the room. Anyways, my 80 $ room was now $ 200. They said the reason is because more people would use up electricity and water… I tried to reason with them telling them that they’re only there to help me, showed them we have a case of water, and how could we use up more electricity? It’s not like we’re going to get an electrician and create more outlets for every person? I didn’t say that part though but I just kept my cool. There was no way of arguing with them and I just wanted to shoot what I needed to(which ended up to be about 20 seconds total of my film, so $ 10 per second) and get out.(Yeah, I even told them I won’ be spending the night and just wanted to get my shot.) Here’s the WORST part that rubbed me the wrong way. When I payed the $ 200, they said I will get my receipt when I check out. That being said, about 2 hours later, I came back to the office and checked out. When I asked for a receipt, they said it would cost me $ 20 to get a receipt… What the hell?!! WHODOESTHAT?! NEVER in my 28 years of life have I heard of this practice… Anyways, the shady people, terrible people skills, and customer service made me not care anymore and I just wanted to leave that place. The ONLYREASON I would recommend this place is if you can’t find anything cheaper and very tight on money during the cold winter season. If it’s warm enough to sleep outside, it’s best you do that… sleep and avoid this place. Mind you, this review is not typed up in rage right after I left. This happened 2 years ago so I’ve had enough time to cool off yet this place still left that bad of an impression after all these years. Listen, if you don’t believe me, Then by all means go and stay here. Before you do however, go ahead and read the other reviews before committing your hard earned money to this establishment. –Leo Update: After posting this which linked to my Facebook, a friend posted this as a response. Omg my sister and I stayed there too and it was the worst experience ever. It had stained sheets and the bed underneath actually had blood in it. It was the grossest thing ever. When I went to talk to the manager he actually told us that he couldn’t do anything about it and refused to reimburse us even tho we had just checked in. Worst hotel ever !!!

TERRIBLE, RUDE&DIRTY This hotel is extremely unprofessional ! We were harassed by several phone calls accusing us of sneaking our daughter in(who has an apartment here in Berkeley) and smoking in the room. Neither me nor my husband smoke. All they wanted to do is argue !! I will never stay here again !!! Also there’s an issue of there maid service taking my earrings and never got them back WOULDNTRECOMMEND
