Patrick Barnes is a phenomenal trainer. I’ve had a few good personal fitness trainers in the past but Patrick blew them all away, bar none. From the very first time I attended a training session with Patrick on parkour strengthening and conditioning at Apex Movement Norcal, I was completely impressed. Patrick’s instructions are very clear and easy to understand; the demonstrations are spot on; and his expectations of me when he asks me to do the movements and exercises are spelled out so clearly that I feel safe and secure doing the exercises myself. His attention to proper technique and correct form is so refreshing that I have the utmost confidence, that if I follow his instructions, there is very little room for error and the risk of injury to myself is greatly minimized. He explains anatomy, physiology and kinesiology in such layman’s terms that I could understand what he means. He is so down-to-earth I never once felt this dude is «just trying to B.S. me and show off that he knows a lot of useless stuff.» In fact, every word that comes out of his mouth makes so much sense. Yeah he is that awesome that I decided he is worth every penny to get one-on-one sessions with him which I am doing now. And I highly recommend anyone serious about training to get on his schedule while you still can.

The last time I lifted weights was in high school with my brother, Tim, who teased me mercilessly for being weak. I must admit, I was a bit intimidated going to my first session with Patrick,(partially because of my punk brother for teasing me,) but because Patrick is super strong and graceful due to being a powerlifter, highland games athlete and a modern dancer. But ends up the weight lifting session was about me. Which exercises my body needs. My safety. How to lift with good structure. Patrick has a skill for explaining things clearly and simply, without confusing me with extraneous details. He was very encouraging and gave me lots of feedback on my form. The other lifters there were also really nice and fun to be around. It was an absolute blast working out and training with Patrick.
