Made reservations for a Friday night at Chez Trik and the whole experience was delightful. The place is very cozy and homey. I didn’t have to wait long at all before dinner was set before my hungry eyes. The set menu for the night was Beet Roesti Roasted Kabocha(Japanese pumpkin) Oven-baked Salmon Heirloom tomatoes w/basil & olive oil Everything on the menu was perfection. The Beet Roesti was nicely crisped on the edges and went great along with the Roasted Kahocha which was had a just a hint of sweetness to balance to the beet flavor. The heirloom tomatoes were drizzled with olive oil and was so fresh tasting I thought they came straight from the backyard. The over baked salmon was tender — tastefully spiced with olive oil and pepper. Bottom line — THEWHOLEMEALWASFUCKINGFANTASTIC. The Chef is dreadfully nice and very modest — also he is very HANDSOME — which is why Chef Trik deserves FIVE stars. I will DEFINITELY come back — if the Chef will let me dine here again. Chef Trik is a true hidden gem in Berkeley and I would like to thank Patrick M. for sharing the secret. :)
