Amazing falafel, expertly wrapped, gently spiced. Perfectly toasted pita bread for the hummus appetizers.

Great food, but $ 13 for a chicken gyro plate? Seriously? I thought the owner was kidding at first. The owner is friendly, but at times intrusive and creepy. Prices need to go down. I mean it’s in Asian Ghetto in a small unit within a filthy court.

I’ve been here before and it was ok. They always charged be weird amounts but close to actual. Today I went and Wanted some extra sauce but they refused because«they already put sauce on it»(less then I wanted. This place us arrogant for no reason it’s a shame! Edit: When I went back to ask for more sauce they said: «Fuck you or we call the cops.» that’s consumer friendliness right there…

Never been somewhere so bad that I actually wanted my money back and I experienced that today. Got the lamb/beef gyro wrap and was seriously dissappointed. The meat was very fatty, cold, and dry. The wrap was supposed to be in lavash bread and it was actually made with a cold tortilla! Literally appalling! The yogurt sauce tasted like it was made with ranch dressing. My friend got chicken kabob, which was oddly on wooden skewers and looked more like satay. The wrap tasted like a watery mess of lettuce and rubber. On top of this, the service was super slow. Will not return.

Good service. Good vibe. Good food. The owner is super friendly and he told us that he actually painted the murals In the restaurant himself. The talent. The food was great. Ordered the chicken plate at midnight and it tasted like actual Mediterranean food. Not overly salty like many chain restaurants are nowadays. The hummus was spectacular and the chicken and rice were perfection. The quality is unbeatable.

The food here is solid. The chicken was delicious and cooked well, and the salad gave the dish a new kick that I didn’t expect. The rice wasn’t as great as the other rice but don’t get me wrong, everything I had on my plate was delicious. Especially the pita bread and hummus. I was actually considering just buying the bread and hummus on its own but had enough willpower to stop myself.

You don’t come to Durant Square expecting much, but I think I could have fared better than the unfriendly, salty food, and cash only experience. The owner couldn’t even spare an extra napkin or a box to go for the chicken gyro I ordered.

Fantastic late night food. Just as good as some of the kebabs I’ve had in Greece and Istanbul!

I absolutely can’t understand why this place has such low reviews… The owner is absolutely delightful, generous, friendly and sincere. The wraps are DELICIOUS!!! That’s all hubby and I have ever had — the wraps — so I can’t speak to the other menu items, but this is by far one of our FAVORITE places. The meat(I had lamb, he had chicken) was cooked and seasoned to perfection, and the wrap has just he perfect amount of chew and crunch. The special spicy sauce BITES(my mouth was zinging and nose running for a few minutes after I’d left the restaurant and long since I finished my meal) but it is soooooo yummy. As long as you can handle spicy, do it! Hubs and I will definitely always stop in when we’re in the neighborhood…

Panchos across the alley had such rude service. Logan here was so nice and had such a nice demeanor after our terrible encounter with Panchos. Come here instead.

$ 1.50 for an Arizona that’s clearly marked $ 0.99! Even if the Soda Tax and CRV applied doesn’t come to $ 1.50. Stingy on the napkins too, but that’s another story.

Food taste like shit!!! First off the lavash is NOT lavash, but mexica tortilla. The gyro lamb and beef mix was extremely salty. The only item that was good was their chicken gyro… and even that was a bit of a long stretch. Also as far as food safety goes… it as deplorable. After washing his hands he used a nasty looking rag that was hanging off the box which he also used to wipe the table and floor… btw the tray you use to catch meat should NOT be banged on the inside of a trash can!!!

I came here and got the lamb wrap. It was a little spicy and really tasty because of their special sauce. The food was prepped pretty fast and efficiently.

I really like this place! It’s cheap, convenient and the food tastes pretty good. I’ve been here about 5 to 6 times; especially long nights where I did not have chance to make dinner and I need to stay up to do work. Well anyways, what made me really write this review is the owner! He’s very nice and always try to make conversations with customers. Last night I came here to order some food and he asked me if I was cold because I was shivering and I answered yes. Next thing you know, he cooked up some veggie soup for me so I could warmed up while he was making my order! He gave me the soup, free of charge, and I was so happy; the soup was also very delicious! I have to give him lots of credit for that! Overall, this place is good and the customer service is great so stop be here if you get the chance!

I love love love this place! First I Have to mention that the man that owns this restaurant is SO friendly. We always talk for a long time whenever I’m here. Tabouleh: BEST tabouleh I’ve had! It is primarily made of a grain and has a blend of spices. It comes with fresh pita and makes a great lunch/dinner. Chicken shawarma wrap & plate: both the wrap and plate are so good! It might be $ 1ish more pricy than other places but it’s a huge portion. Also, I think this place has the best rice. I love this place so much! I come here every week. A big plus, it’s open until 3am on weekends!

Two stars is because the food is pretty good. However, I give them 1 star for dishonest service. The first time I went, I got the chicken shawarma salad plate. Pretty pricey, but that’s fine if it’s great food. However, when I went to pay with my card I asked if I should pay with cash, and he said my card was fine. The price was a bit high and I had to ask AGAIN if they charge for card. He wasn’t going to tell me that he was charging me 50 cents more for using the card. Good thing I asked twice. I decided to try again because I liked the plates I saw while walking by. I was going to get chicken shawarma but he recommended getting a mix of gyro and shawarma, so I said okay. The plate was originally $ 10.95. He charged me $ 1 for his recommendation and somehow ended up charging more than $ 14.00 all together. Sales tax is 9%, which should have put me at $ 13.05. Needless to say, I’m tired of this place’s hidden costs. Don’t go here. Diyar Café is right around the corner.

This spot reminded me of middle eastern walk up street vendor, it is located in a enclave of cheap, university student eateries. so the only thing you might expect here is a cheap, filling meal with not too much effort put into it. which is why I was surprised by my meal at Cal Gyro Med. the food was full of delicious flavors and reminded me of the Turkish food I had in Istanbul, with more of an Arab influence. The owner was very friendly and made us feel right at home. We had two plates and shared. The Adana Kebab plate, which is a mix of what looks like ground lamb and beef, put on a skewer and grilled. The owner warned that it could take a bit longer to make because of the grilling time. However, the wait was well worth it. The meat was tender and flavorful, grilled to a Medium Well and served with rice, salad, hummus and pita. The hummus was a little bland but the salad and kebab made up for it. The Chicken plate looked and tasted delicious. Bits of tender chicken on rice and again with the hummus, pita and salad. Both plates were filling but also tasty and inexpensive. A great lil find in my book!

Cal Gyro had 2 spits with meat on them but my meat didn’t come from there. probably came from some mystery compartment for the wrap orders only. eats: beef and lamb gyro wrap(6.95) –lots of meat, had some lamb flavor, mostly bland. passed on spicy option –tahini sauce and tomatos not tasted, lettuce yes. –had some kind of aftertaste, not sure what it was –wrap smaller than a large burrito. 2.5 stars crumbs: –friendly and fast service but food tasted funny.
