Big O Tires

I just called Big O Tires to check whether they carry the car battery I wanted to replace my own battery. I don’t recall being treated in such an unprofessional and rude manner in many years. It defies description. I was just trying in a polite manner to check whether they had the battery I needed and check the price.

These guys did an amazing job when I had OEM 16 inch Nissan rims installed on my 1986 300zx classic, with new tires all the way around. Also got into a basic brake job with rotors. I had some special issues, but Andre was The Best! He answered all my questions and made recommendations that made sense. Car was ready when promised, competitive price.

Quality of service has deteriorated within last 6 months or so. Service advisors are focused on selling unnecessary work and ignoring legitimate complaints. They get backing from the current manager (at least this is how he introduced himself), Francisco, who forced me to leave the premises after I raised concerns to him and demanded escalation.
In short — avoid this place

Went in on a Wed to special order tires from my Land Rover. The tech handed me an invoice for the wrong tires. I noted he had the wrong part number on there and he said he would change it.
I dropped my car off on Thursday morning. When I came back to pick it up they had put the wrong tires on my car (literally exactly as I had told them not to). They took another two hours to take the wrong tires off, then put the right tires on.
To add insult to injury, when I was checking out they tried to raise my oil change price by $ 25. They said they quoted me the wrong oil filter price. I told them it was a quote and they backed down.
Unfortunately this a sloppy shop. Tires and oil are simple commodity. Go somewhere you don’t have to look over their shoulders.

Big O Tires was great to me. Excellent customer service and they went out of their way to meet my needs. My car is super old and all I needed was one tire for it because I ran over a screw. Andre didn’t try to sell me 4 tires like some other tire companies would probably do. He saw the reality of my situation, listened to my needs, and gave me what I asked for, and he, as well as the rest of the crew at Big O Tires, were extremely friendly to me. This was my second time going there and I’d definitely go back again!

They price match from where ever you said you might go.

Realized my tire went flat this afternoon on my lunch break, it had a long nail/​screw stuck in it, I called big o tires to see if they can fix it for me since I bought these tires from them (different location) back in April w/​warranty.
Andre picked up my phone call really fast and tell me to go straight down there to discuss plan, he knew that I had to rush back to work since I only had an hour lunch, so they hurried up put on my spare tire so I could go back to work.
I got off at 6pm drove back to them, Andre was already there outside waiting for me, Rafael, the technician who patched up my tire when I was working took about less than 15 mins to change the fixed tire back, put all the junk back in the trunk for me and checked all 4 tires pressure!
Everything was covered by my warranty! I didn’t pay a dime but the service was still amazing! Andre and Rafael were really nice, really helpful and did things really fast! I can’t thank them enough for their help today and I hope everyone can see this review so they know how awesome they are!

Super nice and honest people. I took my car in for new brake pads. They said I still had a lot of wear left and that the pulsing action while braking was due to uneven surface rotors from the hot/​cold expansion/​shrinking of my commuting. He said it was not a safety issue and recommended another look at pad wear at my next oil inspection. It would be most cost effective to resurface or replace rotors when changing pads. And, they did not charge me anything for this inspection and advice. They totally could have charged me hundreds for new rotors and pads, but they were ethical and honest. I’m definitely coming back. Thanks, Big O.

Staff was super nice, knowledgable of what they do, and they quoted me a fair price for tire installation. Raymond was super helpful. Thank you again!

First, my wife took in the car to get 2 new tires. They tried to overcharge her by about 50 bucks a tire. She argued and they brought the price down. The next day my tire goes flat. I brought in my car at 8am. Its 10 and I’m still sitting here.
They tried to charge me for a valve they had to order to fix the tire when the valve worked fine with my old tire. I argued and explained all the issues and how they tried to overcharge my wife the 1^st time and Emmanuel chuakay argued with me telling me I was wrong.
The valve they order was the wrong part and they had to reorder the part.
Terrible service. Terrible work. Not my first poor experience with this company. Will never go to big o tires again.
I forgot to mention the worst part of all was the 3 day old cold coffee for the patiently waiting customers

I cannot believe I am actually Unilocaling a tire store, but they really did go above and beyond to be incredible helpful and get the job perfectly done. They really gave me amazing service when they gave me a full car service (brakes, oil change, new wipers, full inspection). They picked me up and dropped me off at my house, in particular RAYMOND and JOHN were incredibly friendly and did an incredible job. the car service was done quickly and with great care. I cant say enough about these guys. Won’t go anywhere else from now on due to raymond and johns great ability to assist me.

Got my car worked on by John, he’s the only one I trust will all my cars! I was so tired of dealing with used tire shops and trying to get tires for cheap, you definitely get what you pay for! He gave me some really good advice on tires that grip much better, and even gave me advice on how to fix my alignment! Go to him, you won’t be dissapointed

Called ahead to find out cost of transmission flush plus transmission filter and gasket. WITH synthetic AFT. Made two separate calls-​told $ 308.00 and saw coupon for $ 50.00 on web site, called back told they would adjust cost to 258.00 dollars. Package deal FLUSH, filter, gasket synthetic ATF. Several times confirm my MAKE OF car, etc. Drove 30 minutes to Big 0. GOSH. .That will be a total of $ 520.00.because of this and that… have too jack engine up.(jack me up) 3 hour labor extra. BS… YouTube procedure. watch a professional mechanic just jack up the front of the same make and model of car and drop transmission pan, change filter in less than 10 minutes then flush transmission with Wayne machine & install NEW ATF– TOTAL TIME @ forty minutes.
Excuse me that is why I called ahead of time .you told me package deal. CHECKED OUT garage for transmission flush machines (ie Wayne) did not see one anywhere !! Asked by same person that gave me the quote.. THOUGHT you were going bring in the FILTER, gasket. By the way we DO NOT have syntheic ATF.
FISHING. …lure THE customer in the door than UPSALE.$$$$$$ by 300 more bucks!!! TOTAL WASTE OF MY TIME, As well as yours.

CROOKS! Took my vehicle here, tires had less than 5k miles on them, had a nail in it, they claim it can’t be patched and I need to buy a new tire. I know darn well it can be patched because I took the tire to my regular tire shop and guess what, they didnt have a problem patching it! Maybe only competent tire shops can patch tires. Watch out for this place, if you’re a woman or have an accent you will be their willing victim.

Bought 4 new tires with an alignment and warranty. 10,000 miles on Sumitomo tires sold to us by Big-​O in Berkeley and the rear tires already blown out. I went back to them and they told me they will not replace or honor the warranty, but they would sell me some more tires at their cost. REALLY!!! Why would anyone buy more tires from these busters!
Also to mention The customer service is rude to the point of nearly getting an ass whipping! I would not recommend this or any Big-​O for anything. Especially for customer service.
This store in Berkeley is the biggest rip-​off ever! May this company soon R.I.P!

I got my alignment adjusted here. (Or something like that!) But when I drove away from the lot, the car pulled even stronger to the side than it did before. Upon me asking about it, I received this answer: «This is to be expected and perfectly normal, now that everything is adjusted!»

Thank you very much, kind sir. I guess I really misunderstood the meaning of an alignment job! So, needless to say, I am still looking for the right mechanic, and I just can’t recommend this shop! Not with so little pride in the work they do!
Follow up: they redid the alignment and did a better job. But for me it is still only one star for the lack of accountability, and lack of character! When you make a mistake, it’s all good. Just say, we’ll fix it. Done!

I was in and out.
I was 3^rd in line showing up before they opened as soon as 9am hit everyone started showing up. Though it was only one service advisor he took care of everyone with same amount of attention and time which I found admirable. I had a low tire light — thought I picked up a nail. Since I purchased tires from another big o my tires are covered under warranty which came in handy. I was able to get flat repair and rotation for free. Always nice.

Buyers Beware! You can NOT trust what you are told here!
I took my Volvo V70R here complaining of tires being out of balance and /​or alignment. I asked to have both checked and to have the tires balanced for speed balancing.
An hour later I was told all was fine. …that nothing had had to be done and that the shimmer in the steering a 60 — 70 mph must be that fault of the car. In addition I was told I should have about 5000 miles left in terms of wear but was quoted for new tires for when ready! So I trusted these guys and made an appointment to get the cari nto Volvo.
One day later I had a flat, called AAA and was told that I was lucky I hit a nail be cause due to the shape of my right rear tire, it was a miracle I had not had a blow out. The steer threads were showing and the tire badly worn on the inside edge. AAA wondered, as did I how anyone could have said my tires were e#1 balance, #2 aligned and #3 safe for another 5000 miles. Shame on salesman Josue and Big O. I consider myself lucky to be alive.
