Seriously love this place. I go here for the food and homemade drinks when convenience is best over dining at their adjacent café. Most items are worth trying to figure what’s your favs. Stopped by while waiting for the Apple Store appt. Got their special pizza and hazelnut biscotti and both were outstanding. Pizza was crispy(they reheat in an oven) with fresh ingredients, better than most places actually. Geez, I might want to take orders to go for home. The biscotti was crumbly crunchy without the bend while chomping on it one gets from processed junkie versions at Costco. They are made in house and worth the travel for. I just heard from the worker that their hot dogs with homemade chili and onions on it are savory da bombs here as well as their special sandwiches and soups. If I only had the appetite! Next time… Might be sooner than projected due to food cravings. ;-P

This pace rocks. I came here with my mom to get some lunch while we were hang out on 4th street. She ordered the spinach pizza and I ordered the ordered the kosher hot dog. The wait time was a little bit long. My hot great and my mom loved the pizza. I would come back here if I were ever in the area again. This place seems to be pack during lunch time. The place also accepts Apple Pay.

I’ve known Bette’s Oceanview for decades, and I used to run into Bette at the Berkeley Bowl when I was a regular shopper there. For some reason, I had never been a customer of the To-Go operation until my recent visit; hey, no one’s perfect! I stopped in for a quick lunch during a prolonged disk verification that was being performed at the nearby Genius Bar.(My disk passed all tests, but I’m still concerned about the recent change in its sound.) During my short time at the Bette’s-To-Go counter, I got the impression that the pizza slices are the big seller at B-T-G for lunch. A contrarian, I opted instead for a traditional American sandwich: ham and cheese, with tomato lettuce and avocado, on slices of light rye. What could be simpler? B-T-G’s sandwich passed all taste tests with flying colors, and it didn’t even make humming or clicking noises. I’ll be back for sure, but I can’t say when — I hope that my next visit will not be promoted by Apple hardware issues.

Wasn’t a pleasant experience. First off, dude at the cashier came off as rude and not very friendly. However as I ate my mix and bagel and watched his interactions with others it was quite different. Not sure why I got the rude treatment so nonetheless, it left a sour taste in my mouth. He also forgot to give me my coffee. I thought nothing of it until I was called for my bagel and no coffee accompanied it. Again I feel like he wasn’t much of a fan of me. Food wise: the bagel was flat and not much to it. The spread was ok and the lox was not skimpy. But either way I didn’t it and won’t be going back due to poor service. Plus it’s overpriced.

What I ate: Mediterranean plate, assorted cookies Visit date: December 31, 2015 First time? No. I’m officially in love with their Black & White cookies. And today I snagged the last one! It’s like a madeline with chocolate! I also had a Mediterranean plate — hummus, pita, lentil salad, olives, and dolmas. Every bite was savored. Their dolmas have that sour punch, the olives a salty kick. The hummus is creamy with bits of garbanzo beans so you still have to chew a little, and their pita is warm and soft. I loved every bite. Seating is limited. Parking is street/lot.

I’ve been buying lunch at Bettes To Go at least three days a week for the last six months. I keep coming back because the food is fresh, relatively healthy and fast. After reading some of these reviews I realize two things. The first is, you have to know what to order. Pizza is what it is and personally I like the no sauce deal. Obvious and fast. Tacos and Burritos, Mediterranean plate, hot dogs are all really good. Only get the pre made sandwiches if you enjoy a good couple of tablespoons of mayo with your sandwich. I dont, but otherwise these are amazing. They use fresh ripe tomatoes, fresh baked olive or walnut bread, grueyere or aged cheddar etc. I don’t buy bagels or coffee from here. As other reviews state, they aren’t that great. The second thing is service. It drives me crazy that the customer serve is so lackluster. God forbid after months of regularly buying lunch here, someone actually remember my name. Also, don’t gossip about your annoying customers in front of other customers. The line is very confusing but I’ve finally figured it out. During busy times you order at the deli counter and pay and the register. After 2ish you do both at the register. Even though I always leave a tip, it is a craps shoot as to whether I will even get a smile. Don’t even try to do small talk, there’s no breaking through the ice wall. I thought that for some reason these guys just hated me, but after reading the reviews I guess it’s just a matter of lowering your expectations. Fast efficient service is the best they will do.

Rainy days on 4th Street, so what seems good? Anything hot ! So cruising on down the street and my Fiancée and I see this cute lil«To Go «spot but what the head turner was, is the smell ! So beautiful, as we walk in we we’re kindly greeted and showed a selection of Today’s Specials and the Artichoke, Pesto, Tomato, Red Onion was just bomb ! The sauce had just this beautiful coat of veggies that had enough crunch and cooked softness that blew my mouth sensors out of this world. The flavors weren’t too complex like either simple, but strong ! Good job guys !

9÷19÷15: My friend was raving about this place and so we walked 1mi to get here, and apparently to bring it all back to his place(he loves takeout apparently, but I always prefer to eat at the restaurant if I can.) Well, not sure what all the fuss was. Yeah, there were some healthier items that were good, but otherwise not all that amazing tasting to me. 1. The Cuban $ 7.95: So it was pretty standard I thought. Two types of meat(ham + something else I forgot.) Cheese, and I think some spread. Maybe a small amount of vegetation, but I forgot. Anyway, very standard. 5⁄10. 2. Roast Beef Sandwich: Roast beef, plus some vegetables. Nothing special. 5⁄10. 3. Fresh Lentils(salad): This I thought was actually pretty good. Lentils, but mixed with crumbly cheese and some other stuff. Healthy and quite tasty. Very rustic. 8⁄10. 4. Chicken Salad: It looks absolutely beautiful in the display. They had some nice herbs sprinkled on top that really added some visual impact. But unfortunately it tasted dead, and the chicken(breast) was overcooked. 5⁄10. I understand this is just the side shop to the main restaurant, but I have no urge to try it. 3⁄5 #american #sandwich

4 stars for convenience, quality, cool old-school vibe, friendly cashiers My friend and I decided to go here when we could no longer stand the Café M wait. I had the Cuban sandwich that was pretty standard for $ 8. This is a good option when you don’t have an hour to wait for all the brunch places in the area. I definitely need to stop at the connected diner next door at some point! The chocolate cake and expresso twinkie are on my to try list as well. I have heard good things. :)

I love Betty’s to go! It’s perfect for me because I work in the area, and I need to be quick about my order. It seems like even though there is a long line, it goes by quick! The workers are always nice to me. Every single one. I have no complaints about customer service. I usually order a turkey Aram. Or the Mediterranean plate. Both are really tasty! And reasonably priced. You get so much food on the Mediterranean plate! I usually can’t finish it all. I love how quick the service is. And the fresh baked goodies! The brownies are on point! I’m definitely a fan of Betty’s to go. The stay true to their name

Overall, the food was not bad. It was just plain and nothing special. The service(if you can call that at all) was bad; although that’s to be expected, they were rude to me when I was a little slow to place an order.

I like the sandwiches from Bette’s To Go, it’s one of my go to places for lunch. Both cold and hot sandwiches are delicious. My favorite is the Cuban. Be mindful though that hot sandwiches, especially the Cuban, sometimes take a while to heat up.

Normally, I would be bitch and complain if the to-go pizza doesn’t come to me within 10 minutes… But my goodness the cheese pizza was SOGOOOOD!!! I devoured a slice while waiting for the diner next door. Ended up eating very little at the diner so I could save room for another slice of pizza after!!!

Came here yesterday with my sisters after doing a little wedding planning stuff. They were busy! Not really a line format going. If an employee catches you, they’ll take your order. I ordered a plain bagel with plain cream cheese and a chai latte. Bagel was old based on just how tough and dry it was. Had a lot of ‘crumbs and they give you a whole lotta cream cheese. Cream cheese wasn’t good either. My chai latte tasted like water flavored with chai. Not a good experience for me. 2 stars for service

Tasty Tasty Tasty! What a nice place to grab a quick lunch in the middle of a workday. If you’re not in too much of a rush, definitely go try out the Bette’s Oceanview Diner right next door. The actual Diner has more food selections for you to choose from. The To-Go store mainly focuses on sandwiches, salads, pastries, etc. We ordered just two of the daily special sandwiches and two drinks – definitely have a lot of nice soft drink selections. They have plenty of pastries to order from here as well. There are a few tables/benches outside where you can eat your To-Go. If the day is nice, definitely soak up some of that Berkeley sun while you enjoy you Bette’s!

I find it funny that their shirt talks about friendly service when they don’t deliver that. We came at an odd time to have lunch, so all the restaurants were closed. We decided, out of hunger, to eat here. My boyfriend bought three pizzas. The margherita pizza, which they should really name cheese instead of having that disclosure in parenthesis, tasted like school pizza. There was nothing outstanding about it but there isn’t anything completely bad about it — it’s pizza after all, and you cannot really mess that up. What got me was the horrible service the girl gave when I went to buy water and banana pie. She was condescending towards the customers. Instead of politely telling people that there was one line, she barked her order to the people in line in the most distasteful way. I was just watching her be extremely mean to people. When I was paying for my pie, she didn’t greet me. I asked her for a banana pie, and then she stared at me with such an unhappy look. Apparently I was supposed to pay. How the hell was I to know this, you didn’t say anything! She said no thank yous and you can tell she hated everyone and their mom. So why work there? Geez. I paid and patiently waited for my pie. Instead of her clearly saying that the banana pie was ready, she barely mumbled it. Mind you, there was a lot of people in there and you cannot hear unless you speak up. Thank goodness I was watching her because I figured she wouldn’t go out of her way for anyone, let alone do her job at a minimum level. Also the pie was horrible. I love banana crème but this one I barely ate. So yeah, chick, thanks for nothing. You shouldn’t work in customer service jobs. Also, take off that shirt about friendly service, it’s false advertising.

No dine in, but quick to go bakery goods as well as beverages here! There are none of their signature soufflés served here, compared to the dine in section next door, but they have their freshly baked treats, such as their delightful and good looking Macarons! Their Macarons looks as if they are asking to be picked! By looking at the display of all their baking items, they are just waiting to be easily sold!

In my opinion the to go section of bette is just as good as the diner itself. This place churns a lot of fresh baked goods every morning and those who are lucky enough to live or work here can enjoy their fresh morning buns and creamy oatmeal and other all American baked goods. They also serve pizza and various sides for lunch but I never tried it. There is only one thing that I always go for here and it is their lemon bar!!! It is not the normal lemon bar with the tart jelly topping… This is layers of fluffy cake like lemon cake on top of a thick Graham cracker crust that is crumbly and buttery. I never stopped loving this treat! Their pistachio lemon shortbread is also very very good. A nice treat to pair over coffee while sitting on fourth st. Skip the line at bettes diner and opt for a light meal paired with good coffer and dine outside. There is just so much to enjoy outside with their abundance of casual seating everywhere.
