Slowest checkout ever. That’s because they generally put only two cashiers at the registers in order to get people to use the 15 — yes 15— self serve checkouts. Very pricy since the remodeling two years ago. Often there’s no employee at the customer service desk either. They tend to wander off to talk to other employees. It’s almost always one of the college kids scheduled at the customer delivery desk. Not a great idea apparently. The store manager spends a lot of time out of sight upstairs.

As far as Stop & Shops go, this one was recently remodeled and is more spacious. The aisles were extended and the Bakery Department has greatly improved in their variety and selections of bread in particular. It appears there are ample enough cashiers ready, making check out quick and convenient. In addition, they have the scan system available, as well; scanning your items as you go. However, my only disappointment is with customer service. This is my second visit to the Floral Department and no one was available to assist me. The first time I asked to have balloons blown up and was told no; no one was available… Not having any additional time to go elsewhere I asked for the store manager. Explaining that I could blow up the balloons myself(I have retail experience), he agreed and I did while he stood by… I would think that as an Assistant or Store Manager you should be capable of knowing all aspects of the store’s business. I thought he might have offered a discount, since I was doing the work, nothing! Oh well… Today, my second experience with the Floral Department went like this… I politely asked the courtesy service associate if there was someone who could assist me and wrap some flowers for me… Well, that appeared to be a lot to ask by the expression of their non-verbal language… Anyway, I did get my flowers wrapped, but I’m thinking I take my floral business over to Kings Super Market from now on…

This store has gone through a total transformation this past fall. It has been completely redone inside. The aisles are nice and wide and brightly lit and cheery. I love that you have several ways to shop. 1. the old fashion way –put groceries in cart, go to checkout, have checkout person scan groceries, pack groceries, and you pay out the door u go. 2. semi new way– put groceries in cart, go to self checkout, u scan groceries, u pack groceries, u pay and out the door u go. 3. new way– put your recycled bags or store paper bags in your cart, get hand scanner, shop and scan groceries as u go, put scanned groceries in ur shopping bag, continue doing this until u have all your shopping done. When u are done, u swipe ur credit card through scanner, no stopping at checkout and out the door u go. This store is stocked very well! the deli department is wonderful, fresh salad and soup bar. All types of imported cheeses, and Italian meats, olives etc. There is a whole section just for organic foods near the fruit and vegetable isle. and did i mention if you don’t want to wait there is a computer in the deli area you can order your cold cuts how u like and finish shopping and they will call you when there done. The bakery department has a nice array of fresh baked breads, rolls and baked goods. The fish department has fresh fish with an assortment of different types. For a quick grab and go I’ve had there sushi several times which is delicious and made by a sushi chef on the premises. I like that there is a small service desk smack in the center of the isles. It’s very handy when you can’t find something and you can go right to that desk and ask someone for help. Speaking of help, this store has the friendliest group of workers i have ever come across in a grocery store. They are all very eager to answer your questions and help. Over the summer i moved from out of state and didn’t know this store and asked every 5 minutes where something is. Boy did i ever test them, and they passed with flying colors! Now i’m a regular 3 times a week!

You look for a few things when going to a supermarket. More specifically the 3 C’s –Convenience, cleanliness, customer service. As far as convenience, it close to where I live so it gets good grades for that. It’s relatively clean so good score for that. Customer service… not so much. Young kids pretty much running the show. The courtesy desk is not quite so courteous. Young kids who just stand around even though you are waiting for something. If you have an issue at the electronic cashier, forget it. You might as well just walk out because there is generally no one there to help you. I still go here since they have good deals and sell Boars Head cold cuts which is key!
