My favorite pizza in our area! Whether you want a fancy Italian entrée, late night appetizers, or simply pizza and calzone you can never go wrong eating here. Known locally for generations, Dimaios is where you go for that home away from home food. Amazing calamari, homemade penne vodka and bolognese, veal Marsala and fresh and delicious specials. Leave room for dessert and wonderful cappuccino too! And the service is always terrific… even if you are just picking up a pizza, Sal always makes you feel like he’s a good friend!

We were a group of twelve all of whom were traveling a bit to meet my wife and I. We sort of bragged about the restaurant for its food and being a BYOB. Our wines were opened quickly and we all decided to select from the $ 29 fixe pre menu — four courses. Our friends were completely happy with their selections — the veal and Seafood Fra Diavolo were notable. Wait staff were efficient, attentive and friendly. Please don’t come here and compete for a table unless your from our town, Berkeley Heights.

This dine in restaurant /take out pizzeria is much larger and nicer than you’d assume from the outside or even when you first walk in. Our order was taken by the head chef as we were a large party during the lunch hour. For appetizers we tried the Rice Ball, Fried Calamari, Mussels and a sausage pie. I particularly thought the Rice Ball stood out from the crowd, it was a large rice ball with a crispy outside and creamy and hot inside. I’ve had rice balls before where they’re pre-made and the inside is served cold but this must have been made to order. For Lunch I went the Fettuccine Neptune which was served with scallops, shrimp and crab meat. Consider the price of $ 13.95 I thought you get a healthy serving of fish and pretty good fish at that. I’d certainly return and would recommend it to anyone in the area.

We just had the price Fixe lunch. $ 12 for three courses. I had the chicken Marsala and my husband had the salmon. The food was incredibly delicious and the service was excellent. We will definitely do lunch here again.

Look. I always have hard time finding a restaurant in nj that is consistently good. Dimaios is consistently good. Plus they are always accommodating. Special orders don’t upset them. Go !!!

This place could be great if they cut back on the salt in everything from the salads to the entrées.

Pizza is very good and prices reasonable. We went at an off time around 2:30 on a Saturday and had the restaurant to ourselves. Thought the service was lacking(took only our order and gave us the check) but maybe that’s because the waiter was supposed to be on break since it was such an off time.

Price fixe menu for winter! Newly discovered truffle pizza for apps. It is truly amazing. Why haven’t I tried this before? So good you may need 2! We are regulars. We go once a week, family run, and BYOB. I usually get the whole branzino and husband gets the double cut pork chop w hot peppers. Pastas are also so good — try one w seafood. Pear tart and the nutella mousse are a perfect ending to a perfect meal. I also like Tammy and Sal, they make their rounds the tables and are super friendly. The best waitress is Rafaela if you are lucky to get her table. She makes wonderful suggestions and anticipates your appetite and pallet! When not dining in, we also get their meatball and cheese steaks and pizza. My neighbor gave me calzone recipe which starts w Their pizza dough. Also take one home before I leave. So good!

Been coming here since I was 5 yrs old. Best pizza in the area hands down. Also best Italian in the area for sit down, may be a little pricey but it all evens out with it being a BYOB. Family has run this place for I don’t know how many years — Sal is an excellent cook and the Fettucini Neptune is one of my favorite dishes ever.

Went today for lunch. Food is excellent and very high quality. Very good choices including pizza, pasta and the gamut of chicken, veal, etc. dishes. The Arancini were a delicious choice for an appetizer. We had that and a Margherita pie, delicious. Salads followed — nice size for a lunch portion. Two of our party had chicken parmigiana, one had eggplant rolllatini and I had rigatoni with sausage. Everything was wonderful. It is owned by a lovely couple named Tammy and Sal. We had the pleasure of meeting and talking for a bit with Tammy. The warm personal environment of this establishment make it a true neighborhood gem. I can not wait to come back for dinner. I have added this restaurant to my favorites list. Enjoy

I have passed by this restaurant for years and never went in. Friends took me there for my birthday and the service given by our waitress was excellent and the meal was above average. Prices great. The menu could be improved by explaining what comes with the entrees. I was really excited that I had found an Italian restaurant that would now become my «go to» place. In the interim of my birthday and last night, I recommended DiMaios to several people. I now doubt that I will ever return to DiMaios. My sister and I went there on a Sunday night(last night) around 6PM. The pizza side of the restaurant was crowded with customers waiting for pizza. The restaurant section was more than ½ empty. There was a large party, and about three or four other tables with maybe two customers each. My sister and I were immediately shown to a table for four which was immediately inside the doorway. The worse table, and freezing next to the door. We asked for another table. All were four tops, but we saw an empty two top and asked if we could sit there. The waiter said it was reserved. We could tell he was lying. We decided to keep our seats. No other customers came into the restaurant or took that table in the next two hours. Lesson to waiter: Treat customers with respect; especially women with money. Don’t try to get rid of the worst table if there are ten other tables available. You broke the cardinal rule of hospitality. Pleasing the customer and being welcoming is as important as the food. On my first visit, when i was mistakenly impressed with this restaurant, one of my friends knew the owner, so maybe that was why we were treated well.

Ok. decent enough, but much better places in the berkeley heights/chatham area. Pizza is good enough, and staff is very friendly, but it says they’re open until 11 pm 7 days a week, and they usually are closed much earlier than that. Change your hours for god’s sake! Or stay open until 11 every night!

Where do I start. I have been going here religiously for the last few year and i can’t say a bad thing about the place. The staff is amazing and the owners come around and chat with everone every time we eat makes us feal like part of the family, and talking food with a well accomplished chief is always fun. It is BYOB so it keeps your total meal price down if you drink. Save money on booze and spend it on the amazing food. Plus their is a liquor store in walking distance if you run low. I have made that walk quite a few times. JUSTLOVEEVERYTHINGABOUTTHISPLACE. ENJOY I KNOWYOUWILL.

I wasn’t sure what to expect after reading the reviews for Di Maio’s. I was pleasantly surprised with this fine establishment. My boyfriend and I enjoyed a lovely dinner and were very pleased with our meals. We shared the calamari for an appetizer(our lovely waitress allowed us to try both dipping sauces). I had the Fettuccine Neptune and my boyfriend had the Fettuccine Bolognese. We both loved our meals and are anxious to return. Our waitress and busser were very attentive. We always had a full glass of water and the busser refilled our bread without us even asking for more. If you’re in the mood for great food and amazing service you have to try Di Maio’s.

This is truly a hidden jewel. The first impression of this joint is fair with unkept lawn and limited parking in the front. Nevertheless, there are more parking in the back. It is stated to be a pizzeria. The door opposite the pizzeria is the restaurant itself. I have been here twice for lunch and here for dinner. Had always been impressed by their fine cooking. Surprise to see so little review for this rest. Trying their pizza for first time. Just had their mushroom pizza, a must if you are a mushroom lover! The pizza dough is perfectly thin and crispy. The mushroom flavor is baked to perfection bringing the eater a memorable mushroom sensation. The only draw back is the amount of mushroom found in the pizza, but then again I don’t think any rest can put enough mushroom in the pizza that fits my craving.

Bullet list… I don’t like spending time when I feel cheated and disappointed! 1. Wait service inattentive 2. Chef/owner doting over one table while all other diners ignored 3. Sausage and broccili rabe blah, sausage had a burnt taste to it 4. Wanted something simple and ordered veal parm. 2 pieces of veal on top of overcooked spaghetti. So little marinara and cheese on it that all the 2nd piece of veal was, was a breaded veal cutlet 5. Called waiter over, showed him veal with no sauce or cheese. He said okay and came back with a thimble sized bowl with a watery marinara loaded with garlic. No cheese. 6. My wife ordered Margherita pizza, no sliced tomato or chunks of fresh mozz. Basically a regular small pie you would order anywhere! This after having eaten at Monte’s in NYC a few days before! NEVERAGAIN!

De Maio’s is that place you come to when you want to get a decent slice of pizza or order a pie or two. I’ve been coming here for years and have always gotten my take out from this Pizzeria. My favorite is the upper crust grilled veggie pizza. They load it up with peppers, onions, broccoli, eggplant, mozz, and sauce. If you love meat on your pie you will love the meatball and sausage pizza. It is loaded with lots of sausage, and topped with meatballs and sauce and cheese delicious! They do make all the traditional Italian specialty dishes. Remember, if your in the neighborhood stop by for a slice or two.

Wow, so Di Maio’s has this incredible summertime promotion where all entrees are $ 7(half-off of the usual price) and come with a salad, Monday-Thursday. I obviously took part in this amazing opportunity and got the best fettuccine bolognese I have ever had in my life — the sauce is made with«a touch of cream» and had big pieces of beef — ahhhh so good. The rolls are cooked right there in the restaurant and everything is super fresh. This place definitely has«regulars» who come at least once a week. The service was fast and friendly. Great place for a cheap, delicious Italian meal!
