Came in to pick up pizza pies early and watched them make pizzas WITHOUTGLOVES. One of the workers then started cleaning, then worked the register then the other played with his phone after he put our pizzas in the oven. Fingers crossed that the oven was hot enough to kill any of the bacteria.

Ordered delivery and almost certain that the delivery driver stole my Amazon package. Emailed corporate and received an apology email from the store owner with a failed promise to follow up.

I been ordering from this Papa John’s in Bergenfield since they opened and I’ve never had any problems. The kids(usually local teens) that make the pizza and answer the phones have always been surprisingly polite, friendly and professional. I say«surprisingly» because I’ve gone to tons of food places serviced by teens and they are either distracted by their phones while customers are in front of them or they are talking to someone else while placing a customer’s order, or they just display rude or stupid behavior. Never the case at this location. The manager must be training the staff well because I’ve never had a negative incident yet. The pizza is fresh and tastes great, and I’ve had the same great service during delivery or takeout. I’m very picky when it comes to customer service and this location has a good thing going.

This was the first time, in the 50 years of my life, ever deciding the try Papa John’s. What a complete FAIL. First I ordered 2L of soda, and got 3 bottles of smaller soda that didn’t add up to 2L. They also didn’t prepare/cut pizzas/other things as requested. I complained to corporate, twice, and apparently they didn’t care. Form letter reply and absolutely zero follow up past that. I guess once is all I need to find this is not a company I want to deal with.

I love their pizza. But it’s their garlic sauce that gives them 4-stars all on its own. Their garlic sauce and pickled jalapeño peppers they include in each order send their pizzas over the top. I love it.

Accidentally wrote this as a tip but anyways, the reviews on here are way too harsh. This is a great place for a quick cheap great tasting pizza. The staff is very friendly and I would recommend it to anybody.

My husband called to place an order for delivery, we gave the guy on the phone our order and address. 1 hour later my order wasn’t home yet, we called back to to ask what was going on and the guy said he thought the order was for pick up not delivery so our order was sitting there cold he just said he would send us a free coke. We didn’t end up taking it obviously. Is ridiculous they had our number our address and didn’t even bother calling us to check and see why we were not picking up or what was going on if they were confused, very bad customer service, hadn’t order from this place before and won’t definitely order in the future

My experience with them have been pretty good so far. I usually order online, but the one time I ordered by phone they didn’t get the order correct. I ordered BBQ wings and got Buffalo wings instead. So I called to let them know and they sent me the correct order with no problem. The manager/owner himself delivered my order and said I can keep both orders.

DONOTORDERFROMTHISLOCATION. I just ordered 2 medium pizzas one had tomatoes and onions on it and the other had a three cheese blend and mushrooms. First of all it took them 1hr and 30 mins to deliver my pizza. I called them twice and each time the guy told me that the delivery guy had a bunch of deliveries before me and that my place was 2 far. SERIOUSLY I’m only an 8 minute drive if not less from them. And then I told the guy on the phone that the estimate waiting time for my order according to the confirmation email was 30 – 40 mins and he was like oh that’s not exact and making up stupid excuses as to why my pizza still hadn’t arrived. Then when the delivery guy finally arrived he didn’t give me my change I gave him 20 bucks my bill was 15.11 and he only gave me 4 bucks back, I guess he knew I was pissed and thought I wasn’t going to give him a tip but I did, I gave him 2 bucks. He seemed embarrassed that he didnt give me my 89 cents back because he started fumbling with his jacket trying to give it to me I said It was alright and that he could keep it and just went inside. The pizza was dry and cold. The green peppers they have in every box were all shriveled up. I know that papa johns is good because I’ve been to so many better locations but this one just sucks. And anyways the only reason I ordered from this place was because all the legit pizza places close early.

BEAWAREOFTHISPLACE! THEYCHARGEYOURCREDITCARDMORETHANWHATYOURORDERAMOUNTIS, FORMETHATISSTEALINGFROMTHECUSTOMER. First time I place an order with papa johns for my kids and I remember thinking a different taste than dominos for them will be good, well for my surprise 3 days after I placed my order going over my bank account I see that they charged my credit card more money than what I authorize to be charge including the tip. I call for over 2 weeks requesting the money to be put back to my card and furious because I couldn’t believe they charge my card more money than what expend, of course I also spoke about this to managers, assistant managers, workers etc… and nothing was done after 3 weeks and yes they stole from me because that how is call stealing, but is ok Papa Johns in 39 Portland Ave, Bergenfield NJ you can stay with the extra money you charge but you lost a customer and maybe many more after this review.

I knew I shouldn’t have deviated from my usual NY/NJ pizza choices(Brooklyn’s, Cassie’s, or my own homemade pizza) but I was lured in by Papa John’s free pizza offer(a la Super Bowl). I guessed«heads» in the SB coin toss and won a free large pizza w/one topping. I used the PJ online ordering service to order my free pizza and it actually seems somewhat predatory… they require tons of personal info for you to be able to place your order and as a result I’m rec’ing several emails per day from them. The service was utterly dismal. I placed the order and waited an hour w/no word from them. When I called to inquire as to where my pizza was they told me that the«snow on the ground» had«slowed» them down. Seriously idiots?! I live down the street from you… I am well aware of the two snowflakes we had several hours ago(none of which came close to sticking to the ground). When the pizza finally did arrive(1.5 hrs after the order was placed) it was cold and toppings were congealed… unbelievable! This is no way to win new customers PJ’s! I recall thinking they were among the lesser offenders in the realm of horrible take out«pizza»(i.e. Dominos, Pizza Hut, etc.) w/their nifty garlic sauce and abundant banana peppers… wrong-o! This location is so cheap — they skimped on toppings(to the point where the bacon was not visible and imparted no discernible bacon flavor on the pizza) and only gave one small, sad, shriveled banana pepper. In addition, the garlic dipping sauce seems worse than what I remember from my last PJ’s experience(during high school in the ’90’s). It remains liquified at all temps and it’s supposed to be butter… you know what that means; it’s some sort of weird lab created food like substance(danger!). Anyways, my «free» pizza ended up costing $ 5 in tip/tax/delivery fees and it sucked. I could have gotten a much better slice at any NYC street corner pizza joint(Rays Famous, Famously Rays, Original Rays, Rays Original, etc.) for less than $ 5. It’s true what«they» say… you never get something for nothing! Maybe in another 15 – 20 years I’ll give PJ’s another chance, but, probably not.

Come here often and use internet order all the time. So far, it is economical and this store honors all promotion from the website. I also have my order prepared correctly and always ready when I get here for the pickup. Not a bad place if you want a cheap meal and veggie out for a Sunday evening football game. Also, signon to the website and get an account. They have now frequent buyer points. Not sure what I will be get. but if it free, and I will get something, it is good in my book.

I happen to be one of the few NJ residents who prefers Papa Johns over the local fair. I have had bad experiences with Papa Johns Franchises in other areas but this one is the worst of all. Besides not delivering in much of an area and having to go and pick up the pizza, price on multiple occasions has been way above any other Papa John’s location. I’m not talking a few bucks. During the time that I went to another Papa Johns and got 2 large pizza’s for $ 23.00, this place was trying to get $ 32.00 out of me for the same thing. First time I called them on this, they said it was just a mistake and they adjusted the price, another time they didn’t adjust and another time they said it was because I ordered extra pepperoni on one of the two pizzas. Besides the rude staff, I have chosen to go to another Papa Johns location further away who says they often get people who come over to their location because of the price gouging complaints relative to the Bergenfield location. Run, down walk away from this location. I of course sent out emails in the past two the regional office and no response.
