This SOS location should be used as the customer service example for all other SOS locations. My work takes me here often. I’ve been to many DMVs and Secretary of State Offices in the surrounding states. I have a lot to compare so I feel confident that I can objectively give this location high marks. The staff is really great. Really. Way better than most government operations. Everyone is conscientious, courteous and genuinely helpful. The manager is absolutely super and really runs a great office here. Here are my tips to make this as pleasant a visit as possible. 1. BEPREPAREDTOWAIT! Are you kidding me! I sit here weekly listening to people complain about waiting. Non stop. And they get really mad. They are disgusted. They complain to other people waiting and crank them up. They call friends to tell them how mad they are because they have to wait. Then they go to the counter and they are rude. Unless you’re here for the first time ever, getting your learners permit, ITSSTILLTHESAMEASLASTTIME. SUREITSUCKSWAITINGBUTITSTHEGOVERNMENTPEOPLE! THEREWILLBE A WAIT! DON’T BESURPRISED! DON’T BEMEAN! 2. Check out the website so you are prepared for your visit. Save time by conducting your Secretary of State business online. They offer a number of options online to make doing business with them faster and easier. The website is not as good as other states regarding specific forms or questions. The good news as that the counter staff will help you with everything. So don’t worry about having everything perfect before you arrive. 3. Mastercard and Discover cards accepted. Cash or Check. Period. Don’t waste time asking why they don’t accept others. Don’t complain to the people working there. They don’t make the decisions. They even have a cash station.
