Bensalem PennDOT Photo & Exam Center

After putting it off for ages, I finally headed down to the Bensalem DMV to trade in my NY license. Having suffered through a lifetime of awful DMV experiences in NY, I feared the worst. However, I was very pleased with how they do business in Bensalem. Though the wait was a bit in the long side, the line moved along very quickly and everyone I dealt with was professional, friendly, and helpful. Parking was plentiful too. Good experience all around.

Had an extremely long line before the doors even opened. I only needed to get my picture taken for my camera card so I was in and out in 15 min. If your going for something besides just getting your picture taken get there early as the other side only has 3 windows open.

I guess many people remember back in the day when state troopers use to give the drivers test a cross the street where the home Depot and target is Now, Taking a driver’s test is like a piece of cake you drive 5 min and you pass. It’s barly no driving. At the location now where it’s at. And on closing hours people go up and do the course for when they go and take the test so makes it that much easier.
So anyway I had to get my ID renewed had My camera card with me in hand. I was shocked walked in and with in 10 min I was done getting my ID. And this is with about 15 to 20 people in there getting there photo ID done. So was definitely a surprise to me by how fast they work and get people done. I hope that the fast pace keeps up. Could help many people out for when they are in a rush.

I am old enough to remember when the testing center actually had a true driving course laid out on what is now the new juvenile detention center, this new facility pails in comparison, they take people behind the strip mall and do the testing, which really isn’t a fair way to show your newly learned driving smarts, you would think the state would be capable of having a true
testing center versus this configuration

They do the best they can getting through the long lines. Staff doesn’t really smile though and it’s really obvious that they don’t like working there.

I mean… it’s PennDOT. When I decide on reviewing, it’s hard to be all, «WOOHOOO» when it comes to rating an establishment such as this, heh. The people working are always super nice despite some of the impatient and pompous morons they get in here sometimes. You’ll either end up waiting for awhile or you won’t. It’s a gamble. My suggestion is if you need to come here for anything, don’t even make an attempt to squeeze it into your day. You may need an hour or maybe even three. Bring reinforcements for entertainment. I always come with a book and/​or a pair of headphones to watch YouTube on my phone. If you’re number is lightyears away from the current number being served, go grab a slice at Taranova’s or some sweets at Fritz’s. They even just moved the Dollar Tree that was in Neshaminy into that shopping center.
Don’t be fooled though. When I walked in today my number was about 50 ahead of what the current number had been, and I had only waited an hour. They’re pretty decent at busting through a crowd, especially when numerous people walk out.
You may have to end up waiting for a seat sometimes as well, but standing won’t kill you.

I rarely write reviews the same day I visit a business. But this particular DMV was awesome sauceee! I absolutely hate the DMV as much as I hate mayonnaise on my sandwich. Most places, the lines are long, clerks are unhappy and miserable which makes us miserable too. This place was a breeze. I lost my license yesterday and that experience alone is a nerve-​wracking one to say the least. I went online to see how much the fee was for a duplicate license. $ 27.50 ugh lol. I also read that they only accept checks and money orders so I made sure I ran to Giant and got it. So no debit cards folks. The first question the guard asks is if you have a money order. I saw the displeased looks on folks faces but the website tells you that.
I took a number and an application to replace my license. My number was 936. Thankfully there were about 10 people ahead of me. I waited about 15 minutes. Talked to the attendant. Waited another five minutes and was outta there. Speedy service for some of the most dreaded chores we all must do when needing drivers license services. I live in Philly but wouldn’t even dare set foot in one of those places ever again. I’ll travel for better service.

I have went here 3 times over the last 2 years or so and have left in a timely manner! Thumbs up from me!!! I was told though that Tuesdays are BUSY!!! So u wont caught me there on a Tuesday!

I am not a fan of going to any agency to process paperwork and be told that things aren’t in order. I have to say at this location, they were friendly and helpful. Once I had my docs in order I got processed quickly. I would not have a problem coming back here.

Kind of a mid-​sized DMV office with your standard operating procedures: talk to the intake desk attendant, get your number, go where/​when you’re called. The three staff I interacted with were friendly and competent, no complaints. **All fees must be paid by check or money order only – no cash, no cards – so go prepared.** They have bathrooms, so you can fluff before you take your photo.
