One of my favorite bars. Intimate, steam punk artsy divey, it is the perfect size. I love the art that constantly appears on the walls. They also have a special tasting room for spirits. Not pretentious, but awesome!

Love this place! Wish I had more time to come by. Atmosphere is exactly to my taste — small, intimate and not crazy trendy. Love the décor and the outside patio. It’s also awesome that they hold tastings of various drinks(whiskey, gin, tequila, etc) on occasion.

Good beer and alcohol selection, friendly helpful bartender, and a nice dog friendly side patio to enjoy the sunny days. I would definitely come back and look forward to seeing the expanded patio when it is finished!

Do you love micro brews and whiskey? How about exploring new beers? Do you enjoy great service and friendly people in a very cozy atmosphere? If you answer yes to theses questions then this is the place for you! Great bartenders, they know their alcohol well and are always helpful if you can’t make up your mind, especially Courtney, they have some awesome steam punk décor everything from iron man masks to giants octopus arms, there’s usually a game on in the bars little tv, and they have a wonderful patio area, it is a small bar but it’s unlike any other place I’ve been to(and I explore a lot of bars) cullens is definitely my favorite though, feel free to stop in for a drink

Tiny but friendly & mellow little bar, located in downtown Benicia, just a couple of blocks from the beautiful pier & waterfront area. Interesting —- BUTVERYLIMITED — wine & beer selection. Full bar, so you can get mixed drinks. The bartenders and customers are the real draw here, as they are extremely warm and friendly. Nice little outdoor patio, too! Just don’t expect a lot of variety or exotic beers and ales if that floats your boat — you won’t find them here.

Tiny but good little spot! Overheard the bartender say — «I don’t have any beers that you’d want to put a fruit in, none of that crap… all I got is good beer.» Small inside bar/seating and small outdoor patio, good people.

My favorite spot in Benicia for drinks. All of the staff are nice, friendly folks. The owners are super nice and very knowledgeable on drinks and on facts about the Benicia area too! They have great beers on tap, usually likes to switch them out to get some fresh breweries in there. Not usually your mainstream beers. Nice steam punk décor. Indoor and outdoor seating available. It is a small place so not too accommodating for large parties but a decent amount of people can be accommodated. Does not serve food, there is a spot on the adjacent wall that serves food. You’ll love this place and the friendly people who work and drink at it!

Great place to go and relax. The owner and staff are really great. I dislike allowing dogs inside while I am trying to enjoy a beer and a Char’s burger.

I really liked the outdoor patio but this place is tiny! My drink was fine and the bartender was very nice but next time I’d rather go somewhere a little bigger with nicer décor. It’s a little bit of an awkward setup as you have to go downstairs to get to the bar and there’s an empty room with fluorescent lighting right outside the bar. I would’ve never known there was a bar downstairs just from walking by outside. Also their drink menu doesn’t have their prices listed.

What a great spot! No nonsense, personable service, clean! We stumbled upon this place while shopping, and were so glad to relax and have some wine. Also have a nice outdoor patio. Bartender invited us to come back with food, which I thought was very nice. They have a band that plays during the week. Can wait to come back.

Cullen’s is everything that’s right with a pub: no-nonsense space, good happy hour, intimate setting, cool décor, nice staff, cold brewskis. I highly recommend it if you’re in the mood for a couple of cold ones with pals.

Horrible service. Went there a couple weeks ago for a beer, the guy working completely ignored me and my boyfriend. And it wasn’t like he was busy, maybe 3 other people at most in the bar. Ridiculous. Thought I’d give it one more try last night and again, shitty service. The bartenders working were extremely rude. I will never go back. Ever. And I recommend any other bar in Benicia over this one, yes. even The Rellik.

A small, intimate pub devoid of all the extraneous crap that makes the usual bar annoying and difficult to socialize with others. This place has a great owner/barkeep that sets a great environment to just sit back and relax. It’s difficult to relax in a noisy bar. but this, is far from it. Comfy, and the little steampunk theme it has makes it just more awesome.

We have been going to this location for the past 14 yrs, now that it is Cullens it is only better. Took my husband there after his BD dinner and because it was a weeknight not many people, The band was practicing, Courtney(the bar tender) was awesome, whipped us up some yummy coffee, Baileys drink. Awesome place to meet new people!

Cullens is a great place to sit down and have a drink. It’s got a comfortable feel, its not too big, and they have lots of drinks to chose from. I think it’s my new favorite bar in Benicia!

My boyfriend’s mom was the one that mentioned this pub when she passed it by. What makes this place a 5⁄5 is this: Kilkenny!!! Heard of this beer but never tasted. And I’m a total Guinness girl. So here comes this cold glass of wonder in front of me to drink and we were hooked! Cullens is small, but eludes potential for great HH and a great finale for a bar hop in DT Benicia. Small towns do have small wonders.

I was looking forward to the opening of this place since I got wind of it via an article in the Vallejo Times Herald about steam punk. The space is a bit small, but they make the most of the area by having seating mirroring the bar all along the outer wall, and they have a nice outdoor area with shade. There are not one, but two Playstation 3’s mounted to the wall and decked in custom casings with all the steampunk trappings, bronze, dials, pipes, and gears. A steampunk microwave sits in a corner, gears adorn the chalkboard beer list, and in a nod to the Tannery’s past, skins are up on the wall. When I and group of similarly aged friends dropped in, we were most certainly the youngest folks in the joint, and even more certainly the only members of the nerd crowd. This isn’t a strike against the establishment, all they need is some word of mouth(and Unilocal), which I’m happy to get the ball rolling on. The Cullen’s are nice people. We talked big beer versus the little guys, and the sneaky tactics big brewers use to displace craft beers. We talked games, they seemed genuinely interested in getting a gamers perspective on what’s popular in that arena. We talked reggae and the finicky randomness of Pandora radio’s song choices. We talked about their hours, currently 2pm-9pm, which they’re looking to extend ASAP. The service was quick, the beers were great, all of the beers on tap were small craft beers, most of which I hadn’t even heard of. They offer a selection of bottled brews, of which I’m pleased to say Guinness is the most mainstream. What’s a pub without Guinness, anyway? They have a pretty good arrangement of liquor too, all manners and nationality’s of whiskey, fine tequilas and a rainbow of flavored vodkas. So, calling all nerds, calling all steampunk fans, calling all nostalgic pub lovers, gamers, beer snobs, hipsters and old timers. Make Cullen’s Tannery Pub your destination ASAP. …it’s a STEAMPUNK pub for crying out loud!
