Always great as long as you get there at the right time. Many gather for the social aspects of NWX and enjoy coffee or lunch but it can get pretty jammed up and noisy especially when outside seating is not an option. Great coffee and tea. Nice menu options some healthy and some very tasty If you want to have a meeting, outside is great or inside around 9:30am seems to work for me.

This place is mostly all greatness… the food is to die for and the ocean rolls are a locals favorite. The only negative is how long it can take to get your food. But it’s totally worth the wait! The space is super cute and I love hanging out with my girls here. I will be back many times!

The Ocean Roll is the bomb and the breakfast sandwich is delicious my only real and strong complaint is that they now charge for refills on coffee! After paying $ 8.50 for a sandwich and over $ 4.00 for the roll, another $ 2.75 for the 1st cup of coffee. Really haven’t I already paid for the 2nd cup?! How about we pay for a 3rd cup that sends a better«we are glad you’re here» message to a customer. We will take our roll to go if we go back no coffee thank you!

I’ve been here close to a dozen times and everything has always been good from the breakfast sandwich, ocean roll to the fantastic cardamom latte. The reason I did not rate 5 stars is due to the staff. They approach the counter like they are doing you a favor and I find the wannabe Hippie look unhygienic.

Been coming to the Sparrow Bakery since we first moved to Bend 4 years ago. The Northwest Crossing location has lots more seating with the same amazing food. You can’t go wrong with anything they serve but by far my favorite is the bacon breakfast sandwich. Soooooo good. Lox bagel is also amazing. If you’re here later in the day then a croque monsieur sandwich will hit the spot too. Consistently one of the best places to eat in Bend for breakfast or lunch. The new location also has booze. :-). Wine, beer, and mimosas.

Love this place! Service is quick and friendly, and the food is to die for. Currently stuffing my face with a lox bagel, washed down with a mimosa. Other equally wonderful options include their bacon breakfast sandwich, served on a perfectly-crafted croissant. If you are a first-timer to Bend, definitely try an Ocean Roll. In addition to the coffeehouse standards, Sparrow makes a cardamom latte that is to die for. This place gets my vote for best restaurant in Bend for breakfast or lunch.

I love this location! I love the look and feel. Vary spacious compared to the other location.(But i also love the look and feel of the other location :) but this location offers more seating, especially for larger groups. I love the ocean roll and the chocolate tart! My son loves the chocolate crescent. The service was nice.

My expectations were high for Sparrow Bakery after our family friend said to my mother and I, «We’re going to get Ocean Rolls for breakfast tomorrow but we don’t want to tell you what they are.» This prompted my mind to start thinking about what type of culinary creation this famous Bend pastry could be. I decided to give in to the suspense and just wait it out until the next day. I quickly took a liking to the quaint and hip shops that lined the NorthWest Crossing district. One step into Sparrow Bakery and I was instantly impressed with its wooden walls, pristine white marble countertops, and lovely chandelier and lightbulbs hanging high from the ceiling. We ordered three Ocean Rolls, one Ocean Roll bread pudding, and various coffees for our group of four. I was stoked to see that Sparrow used Stumptown beans for their drip coffee. The cup of joe I ordered was incredibly flavorful. One bite of the Ocean Roll and I was hooked! I don’t want to give too many details away(you need to be surprised like me) but this was easily the best pastry of my life. It makes me sad that these pastry treats do not exist here in San Diego :(The bread pudding was underwhelming so definitely stick to the tried and true original. You Bendites are so lucky to have Sparrow Bakery in your lives all of the time! Please go and eat another Ocean Roll in my honor.

Kinda strange out if the way location but we found it. Cute outdoor seating, looked like it would be fun when they light up the fire pit. My husband had The bacon breakfast sandwich. With a lovely poached egg. He would give the sandwich five stars. He wouldn’t even share a single bite me. I had the ham and cheese croissant which was light and flaky and a perfect serving size for breakfast. I had an iced chai which was spicier than others I have had and I enjoyed it. He had a mocha that he says was OK. Yummy overall.

Let’s start with ambiance; nice high ceiling but everything is so dangly and low… It feels like being in a spider web. As for the people, they are too good to smell their own shit. This is where all the San Franciscan snobs come to congregate and the owners know it. But really, out of all the amazing roasteries in central Oregon, you sell stump town coffee? While the pastries are phenomenal and the staff is personable, the Sparrow bakery might want to reevaluate the crowd and atmosphere that they invoke.

Sparrow is the place I go for bakery items. The selection is always varied, with a list of staples. The quality is always fantastic and the prices are very fair. They seem to be all over Bend in many great ways. I love everything about Sparrow, EXCEPT, the 4 out of 5 times my wife and I visit(especially at NWC), you get greeted by a girl, that seems like she graduated from The Starbucks Academy of Surely Baristas. Did we take too much Molly in high school? If you smile, or act slightly enthused about your day, could it possibly brighten somebody else’s, or will your head explode? What’s the deal? Straight faced, monotone, and expressionless come to mind. There are a couple ladies who are incredibly nice, and then there’s several others that make you feel bothersome for even showing up. I’m not expecting a standup comedian, but represent for your employers, crack a half-assed smirk, greet people when they walk up, and smile for gods sake, it won’t kill you! Great food that always leaves a smile on my face. Maybe they need to have«shift snacks» at Sparrow to make the counter staff smile.

The hubs and I were excited to see that a Sparrow bakery opened in NW Crossing. Although not nearly as cute as the original location, it’s much larger. The line was long but that gave us time to decide what to order. The lattes had a beautiful creamy froth, the brie sandwich with arugula and olive tapenade was OK but I should have gotten something with one of those crusty breads on the counter. My husband LOVED his quiche. I took a bite — fluffy eggs in a light, flakey crust — nice texture and perfectly seasoned. But the overall favorite were the warm Beignets — crispy little pillowy goodness in each bite and served with vanilla crème anglaise for dipping. Sinful way to start the morning but worth every bite.

This location is a vast improvement over their flagship storefront over on Scott Street. First off, larger and that’s a big step in the right direction for me. You can move around, wait in line inside the store, etc. Service is a serious bump up as well. Ordered an OJ and croissant and they had it up on the counter by the time I finished paying. These may seem like some pretty basic good things about this place, but trust me, this is enough of an improvement over the other location to actually bring me here for my ocean roll, as opposed to buying my ocean rolls from other locations around town that aren’t Sparrow. My table mates both had egg sandwiches on croissants, one with bacon, one without. They looked great and according to my friends they were great. So, bravo Sparrow. I’m a fan.

I’ve been there a few times now. Each time the service has ranged from reasonably responsive and timely to slow and random. The staff is pleasant and courteous but orders can take longer than expected. During one of my visits the table I was at had not been cleaned and the place was not all that busy. On the food front I’ve never gone wrong with the Ocean Roll or a loaf of there bread. Each our consistently delicious. I recently had the Monte Cristo sandwich. The toasted bread was soaked with butter. It was greasy sandwich because of this. This other ingredients were high quality and delicious but the sandwich was a miss because of the excessive butter. I’m hoping they can bring the NWX bakery to the same high quality as there original place because Sparrow Bakery. I’m a fan of their baked goods but the café part needs more attention.

Yikes, super slow coffee bar service. We went here two days in a row while in Bend and both times were similar. Received our food super fast and had to wait an additional 10 – 15 minutes for our drinks despite two people ordering prior to us. Sometimes they’ll do nice latte art, other times nothing. It’s weird because the other location isn’t as slow, is smaller and the drinks are ALWAYS good. This place is definitely more modern and chic but the service is slower which is a bummer. We’ll still give Sparrow another try just because we can’t get enough Ocean Rolls!

Funny, having just moved from the Pearl district in PDX I totally chuckled when I read the other review: «high desert meets Pearl district» — I agree! I also agree with the other reviewer… it’s a splurge and I expected the prices at this bakery to NOT be the same as Pearl district prices … but they were. But oh my goodness… the quiche! Fanfrickintastic! And the breakfast sandwich was pretty darn good too. Glad I tried it. But wouldn’t do it regularly because of the pricing. The location is great. Easy to get to. Plenty of parking. Customer service has always been great — friendly staff. I really enjoy having a bite to eat & some coffee at Sparrow then cruising through the Ironworks Art District.

Entirely different vibe here, high ceilinged — industrial — high desert meets Pearl District mashup that fits the Northwest Crossing shops area where this is located, than the funky mothership location on SE Scott Street. Same great bakery products, although maybe fewer haute style pastries in the cold case than you’ll find at the Scott Street location. But pastries, breakfast buns(like the incomparably good cardamom kissed Ocean Rolls), loaves of artisan bread and sandwiches(a reasonable roughly $ 8.50 each). Lots of table seating with ample space in-between to ensure you aren’t sitting in your neighbor’s lap as you sip and nosh. Say Hallelujah! More Bend places could learn from this model. I hope Sparrow, given how busy this location was in both morning and afternoon, doesn’t cave in to the temptation to follow suit of the sardine can seating of other westside Bend eateries. It is very welcoming and comfortable in the current space planning mode. Loved the sound system tunes on the day of our visit that fit the vibe of the space, like Louis Prima and Keeley Smith dueting on «That Old Black Magic» and at just the right level to be backdrop to conversation and not override it. We were residents of Bend on the west side for sixteen years but moved away six months ago. This time as visitors to town we felt just as much locals at this Sparrow location as if we still were that thing. THIS N THAT: 1) PARKING: On street. Also small lot behind building. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: The couple who came in behind us pushing a stroller likely appreciated the access of level in entry and surfaces throughout as well as the ample aisle space for path of travel as well as the standard height table seating(ever tried to tend to baby in stroller from high perch stool seats) as would people using wheelchairs. Access seems to meet all state codes and federal standards, including ADA parking in the lot behind. A huge improvement on the mothership location where access standards are woeful. 3) EATS: You almost can’t miss with any choice from Sparrow but of all the many(many, many) treats we’ve enjoyed over the years we think the petite éclair is the one we wouldn’t order again, especially at $ 4.75. 4) LIBATIONS: They are pouring Portland roastery Stumptown coffee. Good stuff. Looks like they also pour wine and maybe beer here too. Bend is continually awash in alcohol and even the bakeries are joining in it seems.
