Nothing short of AMAZING! Tiny shop that stays busy. Super friendly service and food comes out quick. Had a bacon breakfast croissant sandwich, poppy bagel with lox/cream cheese, an ocean roll(sweet, layered cardamom bun) and a latte. I seriously had an out of body experience with their croissants. Don’t forget to try their dark walnut loaf. They have a few tables outside but the best place to sit is outdoors(Bend weather permitting). :-)

I’m sure this place is made of great Unilocal reviews so here’s another one: It’s great! Good coffee, excellent food and a cute neighbourhood. We did have one bad experience with a screaming child and entitled parents but that’s life and not the fault of the business. Delicious, join the queue as it’s worth the wait.

I know everyone’s favorite is the ocean rolls, I agree but the croque Monsieur is my fave and a cardamom latte way yummy. seating inside is limited so coming here in the winter is going to be tough. They have seating outside so coming when the weather is nice is great but seating gets tough too. It’s nice that they opened up another location in NW Crossings which is way bigger and just as busy. Parking is tuff here so be prepared.

Oh, how this hurts my ocean roll loving heart to write this review… Went to Sparrow this morning with my visiting sister, and everything was just so off. I’m hoping it was just an bad day, and when I next return, I can write a happier update. When we arrived, the shop was nearly empty, which in and of itself is a miracle. We ordered quickly — the quiche with greens, two cardamom lattes, and the famous ocean roll — and retired out to the lovely little patio to wait for our goodies. First came the quiche with greens. I think we were envisioning some veggies in this quiche, but the greens were just a sprinkle of fresh herbs on top. The quiche should really be renamed or called out that it is a custard. It was a gelatinous mass, and the sister and I were unsure if it was completely cooked. Turns out they make the quiche with 60% heavy whipping cream, 30% egg, and 10% havarti cheese. It was decadent and gooey, and just not what we were expecting based off of the menu description. The crust was perfectly cooked and quite delicious, but we did not eat the rest of it. Next came the lattes. They were extremely burnt tasting, and had zero hint of cardamom flavor at all. Basically undrinkable. Finally came the ocean roll, and as always, it was swoon-worthy and delicious, but not quite enough to sway the experience to a positive one.

Amazing place. We initially walked in and out because it was small, and thought it was«only» breakfast sandwiches. I couple who had just eaten there told us we were making making a big mistake and needed to go back in. He said he was from Portland and always comes here when he is in Bend. He said the ocean rolls and breakfast sandwich would blow us away. He was right. First off, I will never describe this as «only» a breakfast sandwich. It was the BEST breakfast sandwich I have ever experienced. Amazing fresh baked croissant, packed egg, bacon, and arugula aioli. It was pure heaven. There were three of us… all three of us got the breakfast sandwich, and ALL three of us loved loved loved it. Now on to the Ocean Roll. Sugar, butter and cardamom rolled into croissant dough. It was like nothing I ever tasted. Yummmmy. The staff was super friendly. and the lattes were tasty as well. I think we will end up going back again tomorrow! And we will definitely be going back the next time we visit Bend.

Went with my gf on a Monday morning while passing through Bend. Definitely a hole in the wall as we missed it the first time we drove by. The Bacon Breakfast Sandwich is delicious. The croissant is the perfect balance of soft and flaky. The poached egg oozes out the moment you chomp down on this flavorful creation. But the real winner IMHO is the Monte Cristo. Holy moly, talk about savory and sweet. The turkey, french toast, powdered sugar, marmalade, and syrup is just a symphony in your mouth. Would gladly stop by again.

We stopped in here to try a «hole in the wall» instead of your typical Starbucks, and it didn’t disappoint! The staff was really friendly and caring. They were quick and asked right away how I was. I ordered a scone and almond croissant which was delicious. I also ordered a bacon breakfast sandwich and it was amazing! It was a croissant with bacon, avocado, egg, and some kind of garlic aioli. Yummy, friendly, and the price was decent. Goodbye Starbucks, hello Sparrow!

How have I not reviewed Sparrow??? I was just dreaming about the breakfast sandwich… its been about a year since I’ve traveled to Bend and that sandwich, sweet jeesus. The croissant paired with the always perfectly done egg and peppery arugula… can’t even imagine anything better. I’ve also tried the infamous Ocean Roll — lovely. Crisp, buttery, aromatic, and sweet. The staff is always amazing too. I love the unassuming atmosphere and bakery slaves(being one myself). I’ve seen everyone from Patagonia decked out families to the artists from the shops across the way here. Hang out in the courtyard area, sipping your coffee and stroll around the artists’ areas afterwards. Miss you, Sparrow!

One thing… Ocean Rolls. Nothing else to say other than… hells yeah. It’s fantastic. One of the few Bend places I’m happy to stay outside to get in. Worth the wait everytime!!! Oh and basically everything else is also fantastic. But trust me. Get the Ocean Roll. It’s everything!

One of my favorite stops from my recent trip to Bend! A cute bakery with very friendly staff. The egg sandwiches are to die for and the coffee was on point. Seriously, the egg is cooked perfectly s d the croissant is so flakey and buttery that it almost melts in your mouth. Who could ask for more? A must visit for locals and visitors.

The words«Ocean Roll» can almost be heard within the sweet sounds of the wind whispering though the fall foliage in Bend, and for good reason. This simple treat exemplifies the rustic charm of Sparrow’s, which extends far beyond this one signature item, into everything they do. One picture from Bend posted on Unilocal and FB alerted my social sphere that I was visiting, netting me several qualified and unsolicited demands/recommendations for Sparrow’s. So, I hit the directions button, hopped on my bike, and rode until I was sure Id gotten lost or missed this spot. The slight breeze brought aromas of sweet, buttery goodness to my nose, which I wrote off as my brain playing tricks on me. Regardless, I went a little further to find a really cool, eclectic, semi industrial, arts collective looking space with large roll up doors, and as I looked up, «I saw the signl. No. Not the Ace of Base song, but the one that hangs over the small door of this bakery. This is a small shop making a huge array of pastries, breads, and breakfast/lunch type foods. The interior is small with limited seating, and the case has examples of all the goodies they produce. It’s hard to imagine all of this comes from the tiny bakery in the back, but they somehow crank it out. Small is a theme here, and the menu fits that description as well, but the food packs big flavor. I opted for the«Bacon Breakfast Sandwich», as opposed to the«No Bacon» version. A perfectly poached egg, avocado, peppery arugula, and bacon all on a flaky and buttery croissant made by the bakery, combine to be a fantastic breakfast. I love salt and pepper on my eggs, and as I ate this, I found myself wondering if I’d added any only to realize it was the intense flavor of the arugula doing the trick. This dish was perfect. I sat outside on the patio enjoying my coffee, which came from one of several local roasters they serve, and doing some work on my computer. Before I left, the breeze returned with that same sweet and buttery aroma, followed by the words«Ocean Roll». At least that’s what I thought I heard, so I ran inside and got one to share with my friend. It was a good thing I did, because it was the first thing she asked about when I told her where my morning had taken me, and when I told her Id brought it to share, her smile told the rest of the story. So, when in Bend, Sparrow’s is a must! But don’t take my word for it. Just listen to the wind!

Oh Unilocalers, you always steer me in the right direction! I was searching for a local bakery while I was in Bend for a work meeting. Unilocal,as always, came to my rescue. I stumbled upon this small bakery with about 4 parking spots on the side. I needed a dozen pastries. Of course, I needed to try the famous ocean roll. I got 6 of those, 2 chocolate croissants, 2 jalapeño croissants, and 2 ham & cheese rolls. The service was quick and very friendly. They quickly got my dozen rolls in a box and I was out the door in under 3 minutes. In my car, I tried a bite of the ocean roll and I must say, it was heaven in my mouth! The cardamom & sugar was a combination I have never tried before. It added a crunch to the soft roll and I will never forget my first bite! So YES– the ocean rolls are truly that good. Sparrow Bakery will forever be a must stop when I’m passing through Bend.

Oh wow. Spectacular breakfast and coffee. Stopped in here for take-out while in town visiting family. It’s small inside but has a spacious patio area in the back that accommodates many more patrons. The caramel latte and coffee were delicious. The lox bagel and bacon/egg croissant were to die for. The staff were polite and helpful. I didn’t feel rushed and didn’t have to wait long for my treats. Highly recommend.

Dear god, this place is AMAZING! Go here! You won’t regret it. Cute as all get out in its design, from the façade to the outdoor tables to the simple and elegant menu. All of it. And let’s talk about the food: SENSATIONAL! The ocean roll speaks for itself. If you’re in Bend and you haven’t heard of the ocean roll, you’re not paying attention. It’s subtly sweet, light and airy, and it melts in your mouth. Perhaps even better than that is the non-bacon breakfast sandoh. one of the best brunches I’ve ever had! the poached egg was perfect and the arugula aioli is to die for.
