We were told about a great seafood place on Main st. I guess this was it. The inside was rather dreary. It did not seem like the kind of place where I wanted to drop money on somewhat expensive seafood. The party I was with just ordered a bunch of appetizers. You get a lot of fries and fried cheese sticks. I thought the potato skins looked unappealing. I will not be going back.

Ok, as my previous posts have indicated, I have many years in the food industry. Have managed large chain restaurants and owned a couple of my own in the panhandle of Florida. I’ve had my fair share of seafood. I have had much worse than this place. I am going to lay out the pros and cons, not because I want to criticize them but because each of the critiques are fixable. Pros: The staff and presumably one of the owners, were very friendly. The selection of food was impressive for a little place like this. With this in mind I would be concerned about keeping all the food fresh with as little business as this place gets. The prices were in line with what they should be. Seafood is not cheap. Their seafood was good. Like really good. We had their salmon, king crab legs, shrimp, and lobster. All were cooked perfectly. We will come back. Now on to the Cons: Again, not to be negative, but to offer suggestions from a previous owner. The color of the walls could be more inviting, and the Elvis, Ratpack décor is way overused(just saying). –It wouldn’t cost much to invest in decent silverware. You have $ 30 and $ 45 entrée’s for gosh sakes, don’t make us eat off of those worse than dollar store flatware. –And, while you are at it, those ceiling fans being updated would greatly improve the look of your place. –Music. I know the game was on and that was ok. But if you want people willing to eat and pay for your seafood, you might want to think about turning down the tv a little and providing a little background music. –Now the food. The potato skins(free, offered as a «thanks for giving us a try» gift) were good sized and tasty, but I don’t know if they were overdone, started off too dry or what, but they were dry and black around the edges making them kind of tough. –crab, shrimp, and lobster… perfect. but the«butter». I’m pretty sure it was margarine. If for some reason I’m wrong, I’m sorry, but if I’m right, real drawn butter is the only way to go. –Salmon, we were offered the choice of «normal» or blackened. My wife not being a fan of blackening ordered the«normal». It was cooked right, but was a little lacking on any seasoning. A little more would have gone a long way. Also, it was a little dry. My guess is that it is not sold often enough to keep fresh so it got a little dried out. That’s it. Nothing too much to complain about. And the seafood was good enough to overlook all the rest. Will try the steaks next time.

Great food and the owners are very friendly. You want a great steak or seafood? Then don’t miss out on this place on Main St in Old town Belton.

Went in for dinner but settled on just a couple drinks. This isn’t the kind of place you want to eat, especially high priced seafood…

The bad experience we had started at the door. My husband went to open the door for me and he ended up hitting a table right behind the door, by the way I don’t think it legal for a door to only open halfway. We weren’t greeted by anyone and my husband staggered towards the back to an open table. We were greeted by the waitress and a simple menu. She came back a few seconds later and asked what we wanted to drink, we ordered a water and a dr. pepper. She brings out the drinks and my husband’s pop was extremely watered down and flat. So we tell the waitress and she says it doesn’t get used much so let me go run it for a seconded or two. So a minutes or two later she comes back with another glass. My husband said it was better but it still didn’t taste right, but he didn’t complain. I ordered the chicken strips and my husband had the ribeye steak. The server brought out our salads which were basic with a tomato wedge and a thin slice of cucumber. Went to open our silverware and my fork and knife were covered in food particles. Took a while to get a replacement pair. While waiting for our food, my husband and I tried having a conversation but it was so load that I couldn’t even hear him. So we just watched the televisions and sipped our drinks. Our food came out in decent time and looked great. My husband’s steak was prefect but that’s where it stops. My husband complained of it tasting horrible and he said it smelt funny, which it did. The corn on the cob was overcooked and filled with water. His baked potato was huge but still had that off flavor found in the steak. Now onto my plate but before I get into mine I want to tell you I have a seafood intolerance. So I knew this was either going to be bad or it would work out. My corn on the cob was also filled with water and overcooked. The french fries were soaked in oil and plain(someone walking around presumably the owner told me they were homemade). The french fries must of also been cooked in the same oil as their seafood because I noticed a very distinctive fishy flavor with each bite. The chicken tenders were done perfectly but again there was that distinctive fishy flavor with each bite which started to turn my stomach. Let’s just say I didn’t each much. To us our meal was not worth the $ 40 we spent but we were happy to help the local economy.

Went tonight. I had the shrimp and crab, my husband had the steak. Everything was cooked very well. Service was great, my seafood was better than what I had down in Alabama recently! Will definitely be back!

For a local seafood place this is actually pretty good! We had the mahi mahi & the ½ pound of crab legs & ½ pound spiced shrimp. Both came with a salad & a baked potato & the mahi mahi added corn on the cob & Texas toast. The salad wasn’t much to speak of, pretty standard, but they did add real bacon & had some good veggies in it. I wish they would take the extra step & make a few of their own salad dressings though. Then came our entrees. The shrimp & crab were cooked perfectly & seasoned perfectly! Super good & the shrimp were actually a nice size. The mahi mahi was cooked correctly also. It was seasoned with just a lemon pepper & I think they could have used something more interesting. The baked potatoes were good & the corn on the cob was good also. The Texas toast could have been toasted more & buttered more evenly, but I’m picky & think bread should be buttered to the edges :) The owners were there & checking on us often… not too often, but you could tell they wanted to keep us happy. Our waitress did a great job & was busy, but still able to take care of us. There were only three negatives I saw & one I know they were aware of & that’s that it was way too hot in there. They talked like they would be working on that pretty quick. The other I assume they knew also & that was that it was smokey from the grill, they need a better exhaust fan. The last is they plated my mahi mahi on lettuce. I’m sorry, but that’s so old school diner. It really doesn’t take anything at all to research & learn better plating techniques & move into 2014…, heck the 21st century! So overall I liked this new little place & I love supporting local. So I say go check them out & see what you think!
