After not having done any real training since high school, I started at Centex in 2010. After a year of hard work, I’m not where I want to be, but I’m getting better, and that’s what it is all about. Teamwork, competition, and having fun are everything that CrossFit teaches, and if you want to get better at using your machine, see the men and women at CrossFit today to find your fit!

I was visiting from out of town and decided to drop in for a class. I called the gym prior to dropping in to find out if I needed to arrive earlier than the class time listed on the website to loosen up or if it was okay to arrive at the class time listed. Showing up at the time the class is listed is fine. You are actually warmed up by an instructor prior to the workout. The instructor for the 1930 class on Monday was Tony. He warmed us up with some light kettle bell swings. He also cooled us down after the workouts as well. Both of these add a bit of community to the gym which is nice. Prior to the workout, I heard the dreaded«find a partner.» I say dreaded because I was the new person! I didn’t want to be the person standing awkwardly alone in the corner. :D Luckily that was not the case! I was quickly snagged by a friendly person. She was hella strong too! :D The workouts were challenging. This night there were two workouts. I don’t know if that is the norm or not. The class size was about 12 people and there was one instructor. Fit and Strong is how I would describe members of the class. Everyone was positive and encouraging. The gym had a good vibe and I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone looking to drop in.

I had the pleasure of visiting Crossfit Centex this weekend(from Austin) for a training session with their staff — whihc includes Olympic weightlifter Chad Vaughn. The gym itself is in a collection of garages behind a Wal-Mart, but has quite a bit of space inside and out. Pull up bars and plenty of room to run and play in the field outside, giant tires strewn about… Inside they have maximized the space by putting equipment in a small separate room and building the oly platforms right into the floor. I suspect this may be the only CF box in Belton, but if I were an athlete in Temple, I’d get my butt here pronto — it’s an A+ facility for Crossfit that has just added an elite element for weightlifting.
