I always get really excited to go to Whispers! Yay, breakfast food! Yay, more than one vegetarian option! I’ve tried their eggs Benedict and a few different crepes. My one complaint is that the food isn’t very filling. I don’t need an enormous, all-you-can-eat breakfast, but I’m never really satisfied after I eat here. Maybe I should order dessert next time? They can get very busy at prime times, but if you avoid those, the service is not bad. The atmosphere is fun – I especially enjoy sitting outside. Great location for downtown/SJSU. Overall, much better than other places you could get breakfast food within walking distance.

I was meeting a few friends and I found Whispers on Unilocal and the location is perfect for our gathering. We arrived at 11am on Sunday and there was a line to order the food that moved fairly quickly(you go and place your order and pay at the counter, they give you a number, you find a table and they’ll deliver the food to you). This place is a bit on the noisy side due to the nature of being a family-friendly brunch spot but not too noise that you couldn’t have conversations with your friends. The menu is quiet extensive with the regular breakfast offerings such as eggs, omelets, benedicts, pancakes, french toasts to crepes(both sweet and savory) to sandwiches and burgers. This place reminds me of Crepevine in Palo Alto and Mountain View BUT the price points are a lot cheaper! Most menu items(usually comes with one of two sides) are $ 9.95 which I have to say CHEAP compared to the neighboring Palo Alto, Menlo Park pricing! and the portions are generous. I had a hard time deciding(because I wanted ALL!) but I settled with Kari crêpe which is crêpe filled with chicken curry topped with mango chutney. All crêpe plates come with a side of your choice… I chose fruits and ordered a side of potatoes. My crêpe was filled with LOTS of white chicken and the curry was not too strong/overpowering. The mango chutney was yummy but I could go without it as the crêpe itself was already flavorful. I’m a big eater… so I ate everything except a few pieces of the potatoes that my gf helped devoured…(the potatoes that came as a side is good to share! the portion was quiet big!) All the servers were very busy, so they weren’t very attentive but they were quick to attend you once you flag them. I think I could see my friends and I visiting this place for our gathering again in the near future.

We had breakfast there for the first time on Sunday. The food was good but I find the place a little expensive. They charge $ 2.50 for coffee and only one slice of bread. I like to dip my over easy eggs and I needed at least another slice.

Basically Crepevine with a different name. My mom was feeling hungry and was in the mood for any kind of food as long as she didn’t have the choose. Taking a chance to stop eating Asian food, I took her here instead hoping she’ll find a sandwich or a salad she can eat without arguing. Luckily, it worked out. This restaurant is located in an uneventful plaza so to say. There’s really not much going on around this area so you would have to drive specifically here and pretty much get in and get out. The menu design is so much like Crepevine’s that I felt like I stepped into the twilight zone or something. So the set up was completely the same as well. You walk in, head to the counter and order your food and pay, then bring your number to any table of your choosing and just sit and wait for the food. My mom got their mushroom sandwich and I got their Whispers crêpe which was basically the most decadent crêpe I’ve ever had. It was filled with bananas and strawberries and topped with whipped cream and Nutella and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. I didn’t try my mom’s sandwich but she finished all of it and said it was good so I guess just take her word for it? Overall, come back? Possibly? But Crepevine is closer and there’s not much going on in this area so I guess we’ll just have to see.

Solid place for breakfast, wide variety of crepes, some with creamy sauces that probably have a lot of calories. Potatoes not all that great but ok and lots of them.

A more cosy version of crepevine. Great food, less crowd and nicer to the wallet(slightly). Decided to try out a new place to satisfy my crêpe cravings. Unilocaled and found this was the closest to where I was. They have a decent sized parking area, however, this place is crazy busy! There are just a handful small local shops, there isn’t a supermarket or major retail shops but this parking lot is super pack! We probably spent 10−15mins spinning rounds looking for a lot. Probably better off parking along the road and walk a little. Walked in and saw a line to the counter, similar style to Crepevine where you place your orders, pay and find yourself a seat. We ordered a Whisper crêpe, a Del Rio and Latte. Food arrived very promptly. The latte was average — I probably should have learned my lessons — such diners are usually only good for their black coffee. The crêpe was really yummy and so was the Del Rio Omelette. The portions were perfect, just nice to fill you up yet not to a point where you feel bloated and on the verge of a food coma or guilt for not finishing your food. Friendly, speedy service and yummy food. Definitely on my list for crêpe craving weekends.

This place was literally down the street from a friends house that we were staying with while on our trip up north. My boyfriend is a HUGE crêpe fan – he loves anything sweet. We decided to stop here on our way back down to SJ on New Years Day. Parking was easy, the lot is huge. We assumed it would be busy since it was a holiday, and we were correct, there was a line. We got there around 12pm, but the line moved pretty quickly and we placed our order at the counter. It was helpful to have a line since they have so many great options. I ended up ordering the Alcatraz crêpe which came with shrimp, sauteed mushrooms, onion and garlic in a white wine sauce with cheese and avocado. Potatoes on the side. My boyfriend got a side of bacon(large serving), the sweet crêpe plate and one plain pancake. He went all out! We grabbed a seat and our food came out about 10 minutes later. Everything was really flavorful! I’m glad I went with the Alcatraz, it was more of an afternoon type crêpe. I tried my boyfriends sweet crêpe and WOW, delicious and huge. It came with nutella and strawberries and a side of whipped cream. This place reminds me of Crepevine. They have a lot of delicious breakfast and lunch options, and even dinner with happy hour specials, too! Seems like a great local spot and I would definitely recommend to others. The friends we stayed with had never even been(they have lived there for 2 years).

I used Crepevine as the baseline for comparison here. If you don’t already know, Crepevine is an all-day café on Burlingame Ave. I also rated Crepevine 4 stars. Pros –Fast service –Friendly staff Cons –Crowded –Loud It is ironic that the name of this café is «Whispers» because this place was lively. However, despite being busy, our food came in the blink of an eye!(I was with a party of 7) I wish they had heat lamps like Crepevine(or had them turned on) because the patio looked nice! Favorite food– I order the Whisper crêpe. It was delicious. I liked how it had nutella AND cinnamon sugar. Before this morning I had considered those things to be mutually exclusive. My sister and cousin both liked the chicken apple sausage. My aunt loved the eggs benedict. :)

Location: great, within walking distance of the Belmont Caltrain station. Ambience: pretty casual — there were lots of kids and dogs. Service: decent, no one was rude or pushy. You order at the counter and then seat yourself. Food: I’m vegetarian, so there wasn’t a whole lot of brunch food on the menu that I could eat. I ordered the Crêpe Stack, which ended up just being 3 empty crepes folded on a plate. I wasn’t thrilled with my meal, but my friend ordered the Huveos Rancheros, and was blown away(and I was too, just looking at her plate).

OK. This is more like 3 ½ stars. This is a nice kid-friendly place. The food is good, but the eggs are usually a bit undercooked(like most diners so nothing to fret about.) Huge outdoor seating area. The milkshakes are meh. But if your going to do the laundry next door, this is your Go-to spot! Not OUTSTANDING but VERYVERYCLOSE(French toast is THEBOMB)

Been here around 20 times for breakfast. Slob and neglectful cooking style, cheap low-grade ingredients, reinforced with tastelessly large servings. Rural brunch cuisine with zero attention to any detail or any specific Chef signature. «Just make it big!». Even the fruit has no taste. Coffee with burnt milk and bubbles in the foam, every time. Zero barista skills. How hard is it to employ random cooks, buy random bacon and throw a lot of anything together on a large plate? Easy. How hard is it to find a real chef, source ingredients, know what to put together and in what amount? Make proper coffee? Very hard.

Whispers is like the Belmont version of Crepevine. Are they like the same chain? Because it even looks like they use the same chalkboard artist! I occasionally come here with my parents for weekend brunch. I usually get something off the ‘eggs’ menu, my mom a turkey burger, and my dad anything but most recently he got eggs Benedict. Food is always yummy. Lots of menu options. There’s even happy hour and drink deals. I’m just not happy with their potatoes… every time I’ve been, the potatoes just aren’t flavorful — I doubt they’re seasoned at all. They’re so plain(and really big chunks too) that I pour copious amounts of salt, pepper and ketchup onto them. Other than that, the other food items are consistent in their good quality. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. We like to bring our dog here! :) Order at the register but you also receive some table service. A bit pricey for breakfast food but it still is ‘normal’ brunch pricing.

This place totally reminds me of Crepevine. Similar concept and similar types of crepes, but perhaps maybe more options for people who don’t just want to have crepes! However, I will say I do enjoy this place more than most Crepevines, and I do like that they have an outdoor patio so that you can bring your pups and enjoy the sunshine during brunch. The potatoes that came with our dishes were lacking in flavor and had a weird texture. They also had trouble figuring out when to bring out our dessert crêpe with ice cream. At first, they brought it out way too early at the same time as our entrees. Then, when we were ready for it, it was nowhere to be found and it took the waitress about 20 minutes to bring it out again… All in all, I’d come back again, but not a place I’d go out of my way for.

Plenty of choice: omelettes, thick sweet crepes with savory or sweet filling, burgers, salads, soups. Quick service and good foe groups. Huevos Rancheros-good size but ive had better w more flavor. Buenos Crêpe-chicken apple sausage was yummy. Crêpe skin was made well. Mango milkshake-lovee it. It was like a smoothie milkshake as it tasted like fruit, but semi thick and creamy.

Solid family friendly café. Staying at the Sofitel across the freeway, it was less than 10 minutes away. Busy parking lot is cramped. Definitely cheaper than the 2 places to eat at the hotel. Food was delicious and filling. Chalkboard menu is pretty but can be a bit overwhelming. Order at the counter, pay, look for a table, seat yourself and wait for your food to be served. There was a line but food came in less than 10 minutes. Got the classic eggs benedict. Perfectly cooked eggs, runny center and fully cooked whites. Hollandaise sauce was a bit too lemony for my taste but ham was nice and thick, and English muffin was toasted just right. My brother got a crêpe with a hot link and 2 eggs. His wife got eggs sunny side up, bacon and a fruit cup. My nephew got silver dollar pancakes, a huge serving from the kids’ menu. Everybody enjoyed their meal. Huge hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream. Drink was really hot which made the choice of serving it in a tall glass odd. Guess others in the past had difficulty holding onto the glass since it came to the table already wrapped in a paper sleeve. Coffee was good and strong.

My mom and I went here for a random Lunch while running errands last week. All I can say is we both loved this place! When you walk in the menu is a little overwhelming because there is so much to choose from. My mom and I both ordered benedicts. I ordered the benediction with country potatoes and she ordered the spinach benediction with a salad. We were immediately seated and we’re given waters fairly quickly. Considering that we went during lunch rush we were already in the mindset that we were going to wait a long time. However, the food came within 10 minutes. Food was great and staff was great! Definitely will be coming back again.

I wasn’t all that impressed with the food nor the coffee drinks. I don’t know how you can mess up on making decent lattes, but they were bleh! My fiancé had a regular latte and I the Chai latte. Yuck! Ordered a bagel with cream cheese and 2 eggs over easy. You’d think, sure this is a no brainier right? Wrong!!! Bagel was mediocre, and the eggs flavorless. Had to sprinkle salt and pepper on my eggs. My fiancé ordered the salsa omelette, it was ok. Nothing mind blowing. What I did like about this place was the atmosphere and how they utilized the eating space outside. We are going to try and go back here to try out their crepes and see if they can make those better than the other items we tried. No lattes next time haha.

«Three or four stars?» was the running refrain as I considered how to rate this meal. On the plus side… Friendly service, a willingness to substitute items, and the Roma tomato soup is hearty and flavorful. But on the minus side… Not enough healthy vegetarian items(come on, it’s California, toss in the requisite tofu option), and — the real issue — not enough saucing of the crepes’ interiors. A dollop of sauce on top was not enough to combine with all of the ingredients inside, and my A La Jack crêpe seemed like an assemblage of discrete ingredients, rather than a cohesive harmonious whole. The salad likewise was barely dressed. Riley and I agreed to let the dessert be the deciding factor. We got the Half Moon, and decided that if the peaches were fresh(or unfrozen from a previously fresh state, given the season), that would merit a 4. Alas, it was not to be — they were canned, and still wet with enough liquid that the tasty orange sauce(again on the outside of the crêpe) did not adhere. The richness of the vanilla ice cream did its best to elevate the dish, but still — canned peaches, alas.
