Decent but doesnt live up to the hype. Its cool that you can pick which salsa you want but i thought all salsa’s werent anything special. You can get better out of a jar. Quality of the food isnt bad but just needs a little more flavor. The best way i can describe it is «good, not great.»

It was alright. A little too cafeteria-like to get a 4th star. Mexican food for the masses. Counter service. Average prices. $ 5 for a taco and some chips. Combos for $ 7+. Maybe $ 8+ for a burrito. It was packed on a recent Friday afternoon. Kids, families, young broke people. Tables all super close to one another. Tortilla chips were flavorless and probably were from a bag. No one remarked on the food. It was just food. Dark inside. Salsa bar was grimy, eh. Could use some light, fresh air, and another round or two of cleaning a day. This is a place to grab some food and be on your way. Definitely not a destination.

Tacos are like #2 on my favorite foods list; behind Chick-fil-a because let’s face it, that’s a different league all on its own. With that being said, these tacos didn’t live up to the hype for me. Maybe because I’m such a taco aficionado, I have my bar set too high. Either way, these were just sub-par. I also had the guac which isn’t anything to rave about. I wouldn’t mind trying this place out again, but these tacos just don’t find their way into my(day)dreams.

Really tasty surf burritos after a long day at the beach. Definitely worth checking out.

Get the Hawaiian salad, add avocado, and call it a day. I normally skip right over the salad section on menus, but after seeing a friend order this one I had to try it. Yes, it looked THAT good. Ask for the dressing on the side, or forgo it all together. there is enough going on in the salad that it’s not really needed. Coming here after spending the day on the beach has become my routine. Lines can be long, but the food usually comes out quickly.

Not too sure what the hype is about. Maybe I’ve been spoiled when I went to Key West in May and had some amazing fresh fish tacos, but these were pretty bland compared to what I’ve experienced. It was super packed, and I was anticipating out of this world seafood… well definitely not the case. I had the surf taco baja style and mahi taco, also the buffalo calamari(which was good) and my boyfriend had the chicken bowl. For all the hype, it really wasn’t worth it at all… next time I’ll grab a slice of pizza and head back home. *I will say that the service was extremely attentive, and it was a zoo in there but they still managed to check on our table a few times*

Always amazing. Get the surf burrito. I tried the Buffalo calamari which was mediocre after such good hype. Awesome place though in general. Always good after a beach day!

This was recommended for a quick meal before heading to the beach – and that is all it was. The food itself was rather plain– relying solely on salsas for flavor. I was also unhappy with the service. I asked for no cilantro, and sure enough my taco came with cilantro. Also, they do not give glasses of tap water, so be prepared to purchase a bottle or bring your own. The one plus was that the food itself was quick and cheap.

Super long wait but I have to say it was worth it. I got the #2 combo with surf taco(Baja style) and carne asada taco. They were both so delicious. The rice and beans were a little too bland for my taste but the salsas from salsa bar def helped. Def get a combo at surf taco! It’s a better deal :)

I have lived in jersey for 25 years and finally got to the famous Surf Taco. All you see when driving on the parkway is these bumper stickers on cars. Everyone always talking about the great surf taco, and how they are the best. I don’t think they are the best tacos in the world, but they were definitely worth the drive. The mahi tacos where dried out, but the shrimp teriyaki and fried cod were awesome. The fish is very fresh along with all of the ingredients used in the tacos, and when I asked for no cilantro, they actually listened. The whole place has that laid back surfer/shore feel too it, and I felt like I was on vacation, and not in NJ. They have couches to relax in and even a foosball table. Good food, fun vibe, I will be back.

I love fish tacos. That being said, these are not the best fish tacos I have ever had, but that’s probably because I ate em every chance I had in SoCal. These are however, the best fish tacos I’ve had in NJ. Order at the counter, take a number, and find a seat where the staff brings you your food. Clean up is on you though. I’ve had the mahi mahi, salmon, surf, and shrimp tacos. My favorite is the Surf Taco, baja style, followed by the shrimp tacos. They have non-seafood tacos, but why get beef or chicken at a place called SURF taco? Their salsa bar is pretty good, and they have a Coke freestyle machine. They also have a foosball table and free stickers!

An O.K. place to eat in the area. I’m a local and personally I believe their portions to be way too small for the price you pay. I never find myself satisfied when I leave after a meal. However, the staff is incredibly friendly and the atmosphere is great. Also the drink machine is a nice touch, but honestly I would much rather go to Fin’s or Bubakoos

The food was just ok for the price, but pretty bland overall and small portions. I bought the baja bowl with mahi, guacamole and a bottled water, which came to about $ 15. I really don’t get the mushrooms in this dish. If it were just the food that was the issue here, I probably would not have bothered to write a review, but this place has a serious problem with cleanliness and staff. The staff members were unfriendly. No one smiled. No one looked happy. No one seemed to care if the customers were there or not. It felt like we were inconveniencing them. The guy at the register did not greet patrons properly and had limited knowledge of the menu. He did not speak clearly or make eye contact and just seemed miserable. I’m not asking to be serenaded when I walk in, but you should put someone with a personality behind the register. Or at the very least, someone who is knowledgeable about the product! Then I saw a guy with a man bun cleaning the tables like he couldn’t give less of a crap. When he wiped the tables he pushed all of the crumbs etc on to the floor rather than collecting them for disposal. He also wiped crap off of the garbage can with the same rag he was using to ‘clean’ tables. Completely unsanitary. When he was done wiping, he slammed the chairs into the tables like they were worthless. Have a little pride! Lastly we visited the bathroom and this topped off the surf taco experience for us. The bathroom was filthy and the smell was wafting out into the restaurant. This is unacceptable. Too bad about this place. You’d think running a clean and quality taco joint would be simple. Pass on this one. Yikes.

I definitely enjoy the vibe and the food @ surf taco. My standard are the shrimp soft tacos, the mrs/boss always gets the chicken taco salad. Prices aren’t too bad and we always enjoy going there

Surf Taco is one of my favorite«Go-To» spots for ordering out. The menu is extensive and has a lot of options for everyone in the group. Most meals come with chips and their salsa bar, which I find to be better than Fins, Baja Fresh, Chipotle, and Moe’s. Also the Belmar location is large and has one of those NASA Coke machines with 100 flavors, so your good to go beverage wise. Plus they have Foosball in the back room to kick your date’s ass afterwards. Recommendations: Buffalo Soldier Burrito

Talking about Surf Taco is the only time I’ll say that South Jersey has something better than North Jersey. It’s that good. Their fish tacos are awesome and there’s so many different types to choose from, as well as other great dishes. Next time I go, I’m gonna conquer the Tsunami and cement my face into the history books on their wall of fame!

Surf taco was a great place to stop for a quick sit down meal. I always order the buffalo soldier, which is phenomenal. I like how they give you a selection of salsas to choose from for both your meal and the side chips they give you. I have always experienced good service at Surf Taco as its usually a younger staff from the beach area, willing to work for a tip(which is not necessary). I love the TV’s they have around the place which always has surf films going. It gets me pumped up to get back for the surf.

Its hard to decide between 4 and 5 stars but every time I am within distance to this place… I have to have it so 5 stars it is. I have enjoyed every meal at this spot. My favorites are the surf taco, mango shrimp taco, carne asada taco, and the mahi mahi. All are served on either flour or corn tortilla with cabbage cilantro a fresh lime and some delicious sauce. I usually order the #2 combo which comes with two tacos of your choice, white rice, black beans, chips and fountain drink. Small up charge of 50 cents for fish. At their reasonable prices, this is an excellent option for feeding your family at the shore or eating with a large group of friends.

When i think of going down the shore, i think of beach, bars, strollos and SURFTACO! I always have to hit this place up every time i come down the shore. I absolutely love it. I normally get the 2 taco combo– i’ve tried chicken, steak, salmon, surf taco, and they are all good– my faves are surf taco and steak I’ve also had the #4 combo with the maverick burrito with surf taco. Also delicious and filling. Buffalo calamari– GREAT! They have those cool soda machines with a thousand flavor options. Its a very casual set up– You walk in, wait on line, order, and they give you a number and they bring the food to your table. They have a salsa table set up. i love the salsa verde. I cant wait to go down the shore often this summer just to stop here every time! The only reason why i’m not giving it a 5 is b/c there is sometimes a line and you have to wait a while before they take your order.
