The Bellows Falls Opera house is a fixture in our community. It is a single screen theater with a warm laid back atmosphere. $ 5 will get you a ticket and another $ 5 will get you a Triple-Up: a medium soda, candy, and medium(still huge) popcorn. I like that they show still advertisements from local companies as the theater is filling as opposed to the trivia and aggressive advertising that happens at large theaters. There is a large balcony seating area, however I have never been up there as they don’t allow food: P Wednesday nights they play classic movies, and they usually show popular or family films Thursday through Sunday. Definitely worth the trip at a price you can’t beat. Showtimes on

This place is a movie buffs hidden Gem! This theater, while nearly a century old opera house, is modern, comfortable, with excellent sound and screen quality. The screen is huge! Best yet, this place is friendly and very inexpensive. You enjoy 4 movies and snacks for the cost of one person in a metro cineplex.

I moved to Southern Vermont a couple years ago. Had no idea there was a nice little movie theater down the road.

Bellows Falls Opera House is a single-screen movie theater run by the local village. The theater was heavily renovated a couple of years ago. They now have all-digital projection and run first-run movies here, as well as oldies on off nights. The seating is comfortable, and you can see the screen. It’s not one of those modern megaplexes, but it’s the nicest movie theater I know of in Southern Vermont. The only downside is that they only have one screen, and they only play one movie at a time. The concession stand is really reasonably priced, with a good selection and some unusual(optional!) toppings for the popcorn. Movies are extremely reasonably priced. Parking is usually pretty easy – there is no parking lot, but while Bellows Falls is not a ghost town, it’s not the teeming metropolis either. I don’t think we’ve ever had to park more than a couple of blocks away. For dinner and a movie, you might consider Popolo across the street(not cheap) or there’s a cute Creamie about a mile north on the left, and they have a grill in addition to a pretty good selection of Creamie flavors.
