The coffee here is fantastic, the atmosphere unique and intriguing, and the baristas friendly and helpful. I would absolutely recommend this place over anything else in the area.

Avellino is one of my two favorite coffee shops in Bellingham(along with Black Drop)! Their coffee is consistently great, they have tons of non-dairy milk options, vegan and gluten free pastries, and wonderful teas as well(I highly recommend the Market Spice, it’s spicy and sweet without even adding sugar). The people who work there are always so friendly too. Please consider bringing your business here rather than a chain like Starbucks or The Woods(the latter of the two has terrible business and ethical practices… Look it up!)

House made caramel, hand shaved chocolate, milk options galore, ginger-y lemon tonic«ginger blast», vegetarian/gluten/vegan friendly goods made from scratch and incredibly flavorful espresso. I moved here from out of country years ago, and this place has always held my heart. Try the café rolo(caramel mocha) or an americano misto(americano with steamed milk). Their«toddy» cold espresso is nutty and delicious in a vanilla latte too.

The chai latte is not made from a pre-made mix. That got my attention! It took a few minutes to be made, but was worth the wait. My husband and I stopped in for a little after-dinner date and got pastries and hot drinks. It was adorably romantic and the pastries were to die for. We ended up needing a box to bring some home because they are so big! Highly recommended little gem.

Avellino is one of the two best coffee shops in Bellingham(the other is the Black Drop). In additon, Avellino’s chai is homemade and the best in town. I dislike super sweet or over the top chai(Starbuck’s chai is the worst that I have ever tasted) and Avellino’s version is a chai drinker’s dream. They also have a gluten free carrot cake that is fantastic. The place is homey and friendly and the people are kind. Visit Avellino for great coffee.

Excellent baked goods! Seating is limited as it seems like a study hangout. The coffee is good as well and comes with a little attitude as well!

Yes, there is sometimes a bit of a wait, but the service is excellent and I am always made to feel that they are glad I am there. And at peak times they work their butts off to get great coffee and excellent food(including yummy gluten-free baked on site) to each and every customer.

This place was nice to sit and relax for a little, but it felt a little too formal if that makes and sense. I would much rather head down the road to Woods for a cup of coffee. Not bad, just not my favorite by far. I have gone a few times when I don’t feel like walking down railroad, but overall I would rather make the walk.

The chai tea latte is great. You can ask for it to be made with half-and-half instead of lower fat milk. The half-and-half chai tea latte in the largest size possible(probably around 20oz) was $ 5.25 Wifi is okay, speeds around 10 Mbps down 5 Mbps up, latency is in the 100 – 300 ms range though. Provider is Comcast. They do have a 5GHz network but only allow customers on the 2.4GHz band, unfortunately as the area is saturated with 2.4

This coffee shop is a nice little place downtown that serves amazing pastries and snacks! As much as I love the treats, the coffee is sub par but the atmosphere makes up for that. It’s a fantastic place to go with friends or go spend a couple of hours studying. Also, their hot chocolate is phenomenal and I highly recommend it!

Rude service and consistently terrible coffee. I’ve given this place numerous chances and every time I was disappointed. The last time I went was on a Sunday because Adagio down the street was closed. Ordered a soy latte and it was the WORST I’ve ever had, couldn’t even drink it, bitter and burnt. I go out of my way to avoid going here.

I tried to like this place. I heard such good things before, so I kept giving it second chances. The coffee’s okay, but I still think there are better places in town. It may have been bad luck, but the baristas were consistently spacey. It always seemed like they only did one order at the time, it didn’t make sense to me that they couldn’t have someone work the registers while someone else works the machine. I’ve been ignored while they have been in the middle of a conversation with a friend. I don’t mind waiting for a good cup of coffee, but but Avellino is just okay.

I honestly don’t know why I ever think just«popping in» for a coffee is a good idea here. It’s a relatively small shop so yes, a line forms pretty quickly, but honestly I think the real problem is the slow-moving employees. I’m trying to get a little pick me up and watching them just makes me more tired! On top of that, I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a pleasant employee even once… It’s not hard to put a smile on every once in a while! The coffee is just okay, I have no complaints on the food, but I don’t think I’ll be returning here anytime soon.

Great little coffee shop serving up some delicious brew! The Café Rolo is my favorite, but I haven’t tried anything yet that I haven’t loved. They have a rewards program also that will text you random coupons for $ off etc(if you sign up for it) Small place not a lot of seating and there has always been a line when I’ve come in but… worth the wait!

How I heard of this place: While it has been a downtown Bellingham staple for over a decade, it wasn’t until a good friend of ours began roasting and selling his own coffee, that we truly made note of Avellino — one of his customers! Type of cuisine: «We make excellent coffee, our bakery is in-house and runs at full steam, we have free wi-fi, daily newspapers including the NY Times, and our packed café is a testament to our service. Our approach is friendliness before snobbery, and a fair price for an above average product.» Ambiance: Quaint and cozy, a true Bellingham café, boasting amber-lighting, mismatched furnishings that one might find at grandma’s house, friendly staff and an easy, laid-back setting. What I ordered: A short(8-ounce) Chai($ 2.80), made in-house and a warmed up Pesto Cheese Roll($ 4.50). Our dining companion also selected the Pesto Cheese Roll — he claims it’s the best pastry made at Avellino — and a small mug of Gourmet Drip Coffee($ 1.95), while my husband splurged with a Grande Caramel Latte($ 4.55), and two toasted, sliced and buttered sausage, cheese and herb biscuits. What I loved: The Pesto Cheese Roll, closely followed by the creamy, smooth, Caramel Latte. Why I loved it: It’s in Bellingham. I Bellingham. Cost: Average($ 2.60 — $ 5.05 per espresso beverage)

Avellino doesn’t look much like a espresso shop from the street and in my opinion it the whole experience is sub par. The coffee itself is singularly unimpressive, taking a look at the bean hooper they are black and oily. Upon ordering it becomes apparent that the barista does not understand the principles of espresso and it shows in the final product which is a high volume, thin crema shot. Oh and they give you cappuccinos in a mug!!! That’s unacceptable. I might tolerate that somewhere in the middle of Nebraska, but in Bellingham? Get with it guys.

It’s really small, but cozy. All the employees are friendly and seem genuine. They are always smiling, and never seem to be hating what they’re doing. I personally don’t drink coffee, but the friends I’ve gone with do, and they say it’s very good. For those who don’t drink coffee, they have other drinks like smoothies. The food they serve there is delicious too!

What a delightful coffee shop. My girlfriend and I are currently visiting from out of town and wanted to see what was up with coffee here in the northwest. The verdict is that we are dealing with very tasty stuff… I got the«Dolce Fine», which is an espresso shot with a bit of vanilla, ice, and cream, in a shot glass rimmed with sugar. To complement this, I went with a Turkey Milano sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich consisted of turkey, provolone, lettuce, tomato, and sweet pimentos; all assembled using a perfectly baked croissant! The staff were very warm and welcoming. They were eager to give us information about Vancouver, BC, give us quarters for the meter, and even served our food to us. The atmosphere is very relaxed and cozy, I am sitting on the soft leather couch as I write this… The music is old fashioned and Sinatra-esque, which is a plus in my book.
