My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing couples weekend at Anderson Creek Lodge. The couple that owns the bed and breakfast were very hospitable, the rooms were very clean, inviting, and well-stocked with any toiletries we might need. There were movies, board games, books to read, a hot tub, and paths to walk on outside. But our highlight by far was the breakfast! Wow, was it delicious! Homemade smoothies, fresh fruit, sausage, and something we’ve never had before: stuffed french toast. The wife of the business is an absolutely amazing cook! And she was even 6 months pregnant at the time! Needless to say, we were impressed and had a memorable time. We even picked fresh blackberries from nearby blackberry bushes! We had a peaceful, relaxing stay and certainly would like to visit again.

What a restful, sweet place. I stayed here overnight for a retreat in January. The rooms were comfortable, it was quiet and peaceful. Huge rock fireplace and seating area in front of it were my faves. Long walks on paths through fields and woods were nice, too. There were snacks at night(fresh cookies!) and in the morning a huge homemade breakfast that was ample, hot, lots of variety, and absolutely delicious. I was sad we weren’t staying a second night. My only disappointment was that we expected to use the hot tub, only to find it hadn’t been turned on and the water was icy cold. We discovered this at about 10 p.m., in our bathing suits, freezing on the patio. Staff apologized and were very sorry about it, but there you are. Otherwise it would have been a five star review. It’s located about 15 miles east of Bellingham, nearest restaurants are 5 – 10 miles away. They allowed us to bring our own food/snacks for the evening, instead of going out. Staff was friendly and we did wind up having a nice chat; but mostly they left us to ourselves. The place was clean, very lodge-y. Incidentally, it did not seem to have a lot of sleeping rooms, but had a nice area for classes or meetings, cozy seating around the great fireplace, large-ish dining area; and there was talk of expansion. I’d love to go back to just have a writing retreat, by myself, and enjoy some pampering and relative solitude. Maybe someday.
