I’ve only been to this store twice, but it has become my new favorite game store in So Cal. I live near CSULB and this store is about 15 – 20 minutes away. Long Beach has some old(and I mean really old) staple game stores, but they all usually have a variety of problems: aloof owners, weird clientele, or they are very specialized to one type of game(Magic, Miniature Games, or D&D). The Guild House does a pretty stellar job in representing all three pillars of gaming. While a little on the small side, I liked the way they display their merchandise and have it organized. Their RPG library is the most limited, but they have plenty of the new stuff(and can special order most anything). They also stock a lot of Kickstarter games and sell them at discount. The owners have kept a very clean store, and there is a large game area in a space next door. This area is not shoved in the back of some dirty storefront, and it is just as clean and bright(lots of windows) as the main store. You can be shopping in your peace without having to move around other people playing games(which I’ve experienced in other stores). The overall layout is great and there’s a bathroom on site for patrons and a cash only snack bar(outside food welcome!). You can usually tell a good game store from the looks of their calendar, and this one appears to be thriving. There are events every day, and plenty of special happenings in each month. The owners will also spotlight various titles on certain days, so there is a lot of exposure for different titles. There is a loyalty program for patrons(10% off after a certain amount of purchases), plus a game rental program so you can try things out at home or when planning a game night. A lot of games are already open and can be played on site for free. The store also features two resident cats: Teddy and Gears. They also buy used games and offer consignment. I was able to offload some old D&D books and was very pleased with what I was offered. The owner was respectful of my time and the price I was looking for and didn’t haggle endlessly with me. To sum things up: –Super nice owners(and knowledgeable) –Clean space, warm atmosphere, and friendly clientele –Carry a good stock of every type of game –A couple of great cats Pretty much everything LB stores are lacking.

Nice hole in the wall mom and pop style board game shop. Great selection. Has a hole punch card discount system. Has a rental system and lots of tables to try out board games. Owner are nice. The area where all the games are on display is a bit cramped. Its a good place to check out if you’re into nerd stuff.

Came here(dragged really) by the nerd husband. This place is cozy and if I were into table-top gaming, would probably think this was a great place. There is a large variety of board games for sale when you walk in. They also sell figurines, books, and gaming cards. It looks like they have a wide variety of game-related merch here. The side area is devoted to tables where you can actually play table top games in the store. So if you like table top games, cards, and the like, this is the place for you!

For those of us who live in the Bellflower/Lakewood area and collect board games this place amazing. It has regular events and has a lot of space for general gaming. The Guild House carries mostly newer board games and older games that are still in print. The owners Charles and Monica are super friendly and even own multiple stereotypical board game store cat(s). If you’re looking for a place to hang out, try out new board games, and meet new friendly people, this is the one.

This is a great little game store. The owners, Charles and Monica are kind and knowledgeable. They are more than willing to help find the right game for you and your family. There is a great game selection, nice snacks both salty and sweet and drinks(they stock Dr. Pepper and frappacino). There is also a coffee machine. Also, this place beats other game stores because they have kitties! There are 2 adorable cats, Teddy and Gears, that are friendly and fluffy. What more could you ask for?

This is a great source for table top gaming. Unfortunately, when I came here I was looking for other types. Oh well. The employee was extremely helpful and friend and looked up the game I was looking for into the system. Had his distributor had it in stock, it would’ve been ordered and in store in no time.

An average-sized game store with an amazing game-playing atmosphere! I first visited this store by chance because of an event they were hosting and have since returned several times. Charles, one of the proprietors, is jovial, accommodating, and knowledgeable. They even have a friendly cat! If you are in the area and looking for a fun gaming experience, as a new or experienced player, there is no store I could recommend more highly! RV Clark

I went to the Guild House with my sons who wanted to get cards to learn to play Magic: The Gathering. The woman behind the counter was very helpful and friendly. She even offered free starter packs for my sons to learn to play. I will definitely be going back to purchase other cards and games.

This is a great game store. Cozy and comfortable, with friendly and knowledgeable owners! There are gaming events and craft events regularly through the week, and they have a great supply of snacks for hungry gamers, too. Plus … Teddy and Gears!

Came in today to satisfy the nagging imp that is my X-wing obsession. They were having some sort of event and there were a few groups inside playing so it definitely seems like the place to come mingle and play. I’ll admit that my geeky side started spazzing and a slew of questions started pouring out of my trap about some older games. The store associate(owner?) knew every game I was talking about, even though most of them had been discontinued years ago. This place is a well-needed gem and I can’t wait to go back!

I recently discovered this Friendly Local Gaming Store and could not be happier. The staff is friendly and have great game recommendations(thanks Charles for the tip on Star Realms!). The store is clean and well lit with a comfortable gaming area. There are a number of great gaming and crafting events on the calendar and they have a large demo game library. To be honest, I have not had this great of an experience at a game store in years since the Game Arena in Cerritos closed. This is a store run by gamers for gamers. It’s a great place to browse, play and buy games. Forget amazon, I’m buying my games from The Guild House from here on out. Support your local game store! If you’re close to The Guild House, support THIS local game store. You’ll be glad you did!

Place just opened up about 7 – 8 months ago and Charles who’s the owner and runs the place is a really great guy. Super friendly. Half his store is dedicated to just open gaming and the place can really get full. And there’s a pretty big gaming community in the local area so I predict only good things for him.

The guild house is a great place for all your board game/card game/miniature/dnd fixes! The owners Charles and Monica are just amazing peoples. Friendly, inviting and knowledgable. They’ll admit if they never heard of a game and they’ll admit when they have. You can tell they are definitely passionate about what they do and seek to spread that passion to others. Everyday except Tuesday(store is closed) is something different. On monday they have Dungeon and Dragon Encounters hosted by Charles. Wednesday is another D&D Encounter one from 4 – 6 and another from 7 – 9:30. Thursday is Miniatures Day so bring your little chars to paint and polish! Friday is Draft or Tourney days which runs until 11 pm Saturdays are always different from open game nights to crafting nights. Finally on Sunday is open board game Day from 2PM-8PM. So with so much to do, pick your poison, your D20, cards, boards and just have fun! Come meet Charles, Monica, and their adorable cats Teddy and Gears. And I’ll be here too from time to time!

Any new store that sells board games is needed. They have a great selection of different levels a games. If you are tired of NOT seeing your real opponent, come by and check them out and get a new game.

The Guild House is a great little shop for gamers of all kinds. Specializing in board games they have all of the greats featured in the TableTop series organized and clearly labelled. Want to try a game before you buy it? They offer RENTALS of board games as well as in-store demos. How cool is that? Having a party? Rent some popular games and try something new, what a great concept. Not only is the Guild House one of the largest board game dealers I have seen in the area, they also feature a large space for actually playing the games they sell. Two large counter type tables are there for the Wargamers and X-Wing type games and about 5 pretty large tables to play other board games and Magic. The last table is kind of a creative corner where they have classes on making cards and little crafts. The owner Charles can pretty much always be found in the store with a smile and some helpful advice or suggestions on what is fun and exciting. I have gone in there with some pretty vague requests and they have always been able to make some suggestions to suit my need. To help foster the new player community they also offer some leagues for Magic and from what I understand are doing X-Wing on Thursdays. They also have a faithful D&D group that is playing there and the player base just keeps on growing. Very worthwhile to give them a shot, support small businesses and retail establishments, highly recommend!

A nice hidden away spot in bellflower with a fantastic community and owners. With open game tables and near nightly gaming events, The Guildhouse is a great place to try a new game you’ve never heard or find people to play games you have! All in all, the guildhouse boasts a fantastic line up of games and great customer care

It’s a nice little spot. People are friendly, have plenty of space and the guy working the counter the day I was there explained the magic that is the Big Black Box for Cards Against Humanity. Since it’s in a semi-commercial area, the parking is a bit strange and it’s a bit out of my normal stomping grounds. Still, always nice having another local game store and I wish them the best!
