A trip back to a suburban Mexican cafeteria, I love it. It’s strangely authentic — Except bigger, more food than in Mexico. The menu is giant. They seem to have everything. Except pretension. I’ve never seen a non-Mexican looking person here Try: Taco rancheros — ask for it without fresh Nopal, since you won’t eat it. Aquas — fresh from scratch — I like sandia Liquados — I had pineapple n stuff for breakfast– yum Tostado — I just ate this. It was 3 stacked very crispy tortillas covered with stuff, and topped with powerery white cheese — Grrrrr Fresh to order Tortillas — yes yes yes — the must have item It’s better to split the giant authentic plates You’ll need to speak Spanish to get exactly what u want– be specific — or point at the pictures It has a sign that says«Dona Chole» — but the menu still says Emely’s Tacos – it even smells like Mexico, like Mexican detergent and flowers

I decided to try Emelys Taco. I walk in to restaurant, it seem normal like any restaurant. As I was looking at the menu, the lady make it seem as I am not welcome in the restaurant for not being Latino. She tried to speak only Spanish to me. I spoke only English. The lady was less friendly for not speaking Spanish. In addition, I present a coupon. The lady become rude. She quickly told me, they change owner and the name of the restaurant. The sign clearly say, Emelys Tacos. If you not Latino or Spanish Speaking, you are not welcome to be served. I will not recommend the eatery at all to anyone and everyone. Best for everyone in unity to eat elsewhere. There are better South American or Latino food in the city.

Sunday lunch, that’s what my family and I came for, looking for something tasty, local, and cheap. It handled the last two just fine. I had a wet burrito, with green salsa, per the waitress’ recommendation when i asked for something spicy. Rice, beans, and carne asada were my buritto’s fillings. Unfortunately, I left not very filled. It seems *yum* wasn’t included, even when I paid extra, trying to get it in two carne asada tacos. You might like it though, if you like taking the advice of 9 out of 10 dentist’s, and like chewing 30 times per bite, per dentist. My mother and sister each had a bowl of menudo, and each said it was good, not great. My dad had a dry burrito which he enjoyed, and that upset my stomach. Why? Because my burrito, which was suppose to be identical to his burrito, with the exception of being topped with a flavorless green salsa, had half the amount of meat. So what do I recommend? Get a glass bottle of Coca Cola, if you don’t mind paying $ 1.75 for it because the soda fountain is out of order.

— Locale destination — It’s in the tiny strip mall. Like everyone else, menu & signs are all over the establishment. Inside is clean but a bit out dated. It’s one of the hole in the wall place. Price seems very cheap. — Gluttony expedition — Salsa: Nothing special about it. Chips: It’s pretty good. Chicken Burrito: Chicken is a lot better than Carne Asada. It’s good. Carne Asada tacos: It’s just so so… — Conqueror’s deduction — Try Chicken, not Carne Asada. Cheap.

I have been coming here for years and just seem to always forget to write a review. So as I sat down today to review this awesome little hole in the wall joint, I noticed that they didn’t have a Unilocal listing. WTH?! Emely’s Taco has changed ownership I think twice(?) in the last 5 years so maybe that had something to do with the listing. But this little joint is a GREAT find and one you need to hit if you are in Bellflower for sure! There are a million Mexican places to eat when you come to this small city, but if I had to recommend one that was a must, Emely’s Taco would be it! And I do mean that. They have a large menu that is post right up on the wall for your viewing pleasure. The establishment has been painted with some classic Mexican murals of Mexico and Mexicans doing Mexican things in the old days all over the walls. Kind of cool. :) They also offer bottled Cokes in two sizes straight from Mexico. That stuff is has more sugar, doesn’t it? Love it… Upon walking in, you simply walk up to the counter and tell them your order. They then quickly toss whatever you ordered on the grill and get it going. Order your drinks and sides if extras are needed and take a seat while waiting for your food. It will be up quickly… they are never slow here. Food comes out hot and fresh and always bursting with flavor. Recommended would be the Chicken Burrito for sure! If you dine-in you will get chips and salsa on the side to munch on. If you order-out(or eat in) you will get a side of radish and lemons in a little sandwich baggie lol. Very cool and kind of funny. If you want some decent Mexican food while you are lost in Bellflower(why else would you be here?) then check Emely’s out. I have yet to get anything bad from this little gem.
