Closest I have come to homely Indian food. Love the variety and the taste. Not too oily or spicy or salty. They offer chapati as an option in the weekday buffet which is great. Wish they would do that on weekends too. Also find the music boring. Have been playing instrumental since the first time I went,

There is no comparison of its dosa. It’s really awesome. The price is also quite reasonable.

Spread was great and the food tasty. Very crowded during weekends, but that is understandable considering how competitively their buffet is priced.

I am writing this review while I am researching home remedies to treat food poisoning. All I had was a paper masala dosa(cold & rubbery) and I was sick right away. While we were there, we witnessed couple of awkward things. 1. Some customers came by complaining the food they ordered for a party was a complete disaster and they were very disappointed. 2. Waitress spilled food on herself and was badly hurt. Oh.the service was also bad which of course is least of my worries now.

The food was alright, too pricey for the food they serve(I eat the same stuff at other places for a cheaper and much better), and the service was not bad.

Wonderful veg lunch buffet! There are many delicious options including dosa. On weekends they have lassies as well.

Had a weekend buffet. Buffet was pretty average. When you hear the name udupi, you carve for sambar. The sambar and rasam were below average. Vada, pappu, dessert, were good. Service was also not upto mark, guy didnt tell us about masala dosa included on buffet till we almost finished. We will try one more time later and update :)

This place has gone down from bad to worse. I don’t know who to blame — the management, the pay or the extended hours the staff are made to work. All the negative reviews are true. A dosa takes 30 – 40 minutes. There is basically no service; the waiters just nod their head and say«OK» and«Sure», and walk away to do something else. We asked for extra chutney, the waitress said«Sure», after 10 minutes I watched her walk out the restaurant, probably because her shift was over. Seeing this, I asked another waiter for the same thing and got the same treatment — the lady went back to cleaning tables. The staff has no motivation to work here. Their own cleanliness is absent. I want this restaurant to go back to being good, but with such a gloomy atmosphere, unhappy staff, disastrous service, I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I had such high hopes. Maybe thats why I was let down so badly. I came in and was seated quickly by a very nice gentleman. I ordered a Masala Dosa, Palak Paneer and a chai tea. After this it went downhill quickly. It took about 10 mins to bring me the tea. It was luke warm and tasted like water. I politely asked for a new one and they never brought another. Then it took another 15 mins to bring the dosa and then the curry. The dosa was fair, wasn’t the worst but the palak paneer was terrible. It had sooo many onions in it. It hardly had any paneer and they rice served with it was so bland and boring. I ate all the dosa by the time the server asked how I was. Even tho I didn’t like the palak I just asked for a box. Sorry to say but if they could mess that up I didnt even want to try anything else. Also the Sambar that came with the dosa was so bland and kinda cold. And I paid $ 33 for this disappointment. Sorry Udupi maybe I’ll try back again sometime

I have worst experience with service our order would be ready in 4 to 5 minutes 1 hour after placing the order. Needles to say we cancelled our order and came out

It’s okay. Kinda crowded etc etc but that’s totally fine — I did grow up in Mumbai after all ;). Food’s sort of average if you ask me and I make it a point to check out every single Indian veggie place I can go to. Lots of coconut in most food they make, and while that’s not necessarily a bad thing at all — just wasn’t to my taste. Its a teeny bit pricey too at 14.99 for the buffet. The servers were helpful though, and I was seated quickly. 3 stars sounds about right to me. I probably wont make the long bus ride over from Ballard though again unless I have no other choice :)

Good South Indian Restaurant in Redmond. Really enjoyed the Thali and Coffee. Given its a pure veg restaurant is added bonus for us. 1 star less to 5 stars is because of slow delivery for take out and can improve their service

Unhygienic food. Pathetic service. After I finish my paper dosa, found a lengthy hair on the plate. Not recommended.

We are vegetarians and I used to miss the South Indian Idly, Dosa. But not anymore they are decent enough. Best part is that you get south and North Indian and also chat. So everybody can have whatever they want And the quantity is quite filling. We have so far had Idly/Dosa/Vada/Chola Batura and Thali and they wee really good. I find the staff really hospitable and they have always made us happy here. Comparing all other places we have had this deserved 5 stars for their effort. Seriously. I would love them to serve other chaat right at the table, will try the chaat next time.

You know, I feel funny giving this place a high rating. You see, I noticed that there are a fair amount of low reviews and they all come from people named Arun, Priya, and Ameet. So, I just imagine what people think when«Michael» posts an excited 4-star review. Riiiight, a good review from a clueless American. This is definitely going to be reliable! So, I’ll tell you up front that my daughters hated the food here but I think it was more because the default spice is higher than their 3 and 1 year old taste buds could handle. However, my wife and I loved the stuff — especially the channa batura. Out in Berkeley, there’s this place called Vik’s Chaat( ) that sells basically the same dish and people rave about it like it deserves a Michelin star. I’m telling you, the batura here is even better as it’s thinner, lighter, and more lovely. If you’ve never had one, order it and blame me if you don’t like it. So really, forget all those bitter native Indians(dots, not feathers) and trust this American(well, not real American — son of recent Asian immigrants American) when I say that this place is delicious.

Overall we feel food is somewhat authentic South Indian. Medium spice by default compare to other Indian restaurant(called Anjappar — a fire cracker spiced). I could have given 4 star to Udupi, but they need to improve on quality of serving and presentation. I think they have South Indian Buffet, we will try out in near future until then bye.

The ambiance was hardly relaxing or sophisticated. However, the place was full of happy families enjoying a Sunday lunch(when we went there), which is its own kind of draw. I’m not well-informed about the nuances of Indian cuisine, but it was all good, not too terribly hot for my palate, and absolutely the BEST selection I’ve ever seen — at any Indian buffet. It was a bonus in my book that it was vegetarian fare. They don’t scrimp on the desserts, either, if that’s what you’re into. Minus — I felt pretty guilty using so many small styrofoam cups to hold the liquidy offerings. Plus — wait long enough and the manager will bring around fresh, hot potato dosas for everyone in your party. Again, a little bit busy as to atmosphere, but varied, tasty, and incredibly generous buffet options.

Weekend buffet was a little more than we wanted to spend for lunch, but it is totally worth it. Probably the best southern Indian buffet I have been to. But I haven’t been to many as most are more Northern Indian style. Lots of dishes to try, all vegetarian. This may be a negative for meat eaters but a big plus for us. The food was very good with some dishes that were new to even us(we are veteran eaters of Indian food). Included in the buffet are several varieties of dessert, chai, mango lassis, and one dosa per person! Dosas aren’t the best we’ve ever had, but they were fine. Because of the price and amount of food, this can only be an occasional treat. I wouldn’t mind coming back and trying items off the regular menu.

This is a hidden jewel in bellevue. We we supposed to go to another restaurant but ended up going to this place due to a long wait. The food here was hot amazing and very authentic. The service did not disappoint. Rates were reasonable too. The ambience was average but the food made up for the lack of there of. i Recommend the following– 1. Manchurian Idli 2. Chole Bhature. 3. Masala Dosa 4. Onion Uttapam Worth the time and money!

Very nice and cordial owners and staff. They even got us heated water when I told we don’t want cold water coz my throat is not doing very well! Good quantities and reasonable/inexpensive prices. Now, about the Sunday buffet. If you are a vegetarian, it’s going to be heaven for you! I love desserts so I had all of my favorites in the buffet. It’s rare to find so many(gulab jamun AND Rasmalai AND halwa AND payasam AND more) desserts in one buffet. Although, I don’t come here often since I need my protein! ;-)
