My boyfriend really wanted Thyme for Soup, so I went by and picked up a cup of tomato bisque for him. The soup itself wasn’t bad, but the service was awful. There was only one person in front of me, but she was extremely slow and not friendly or welcoming. Next time I’m just going to go to QFC and pick up a cup of soup from there.

Quick lunch with the wife, looked good at face value. And then… The fountain drink comes with the combo. Except we are out of diet, sorry. Can I get crackers for my soup? Out of those to, so sorry. How about the manager? Not here, sorry. The biggest sorry is I’m sorry I spent twenty bucks here for 10 ounces of soup, a tiny(decent) sandwich and no drink. I would avoid this place even if it’s the only place open.

With so many other options in the Crossroads Mall, I’m bummed I tried this one. Everything was just so average, so very meh. The soup was tasty, I tried the red lentil — good, but not any better than canned. My sandwich was a bummer, a bit cold, a bit dry, and my salad was equally plain. The biggest letdown for me was their utensils: they’re the super cheap plastic spoons that cut your mouth. All their to-go containers are Styrofoam, and the server put my sandwich straight from the grill to the container without even a tissue paper in between, which was lousy presentation at best and a grilled cheese and foam sandwich at worst. There are better options out there.

I tried their salad. It was fresh. I’ve never had a Cobb Salad with Balsamic Dressing. Kinda strange. The bread they served it with was dry and stale. What gave it a one star ding was the attitude of the employees. They stand there leaning against the back counter with arms folded. Then when I approached not friendly at all, bordering on disdainful. Very rude. Won’t be back rude attitude and food was Blah.

I had a healthy and tasty meal here! I’m always on a diet and it’s not easy to find good food, with good price at the malls. Last night I had their combo«half panini + soup cup». It was worth the $ 7,99 and I didn’t break the diet. You can choose any of the soups and any of the paninis from the menu. I had Eggplant panini(which also had a bit of cheese, zucchini, onions and a nice dressing). And for soup I had Carrot with ginger. Loved it! (I’ll even try it at home, love ginger, hehe) Just don’t expect for a fancy soup place.

The Good: Their chicken chili was inspiring! The price for the quality of the food is perfect! The Bad: Someone is not always there to greet and get your order. The Ugly: The fact you will walk away from one of the best soup spots in town when someone isn’t there to greet you right away. Conclusion: The food is the big seller here. The customer service is ok and the staff seem somewhat disinterested in their line of work. The best part is this place faces the big leather chairs and sofa in the courtyard, so you can grab awesome noms and enjoy a great people watching seat.

They let you sample other soups also before you decide which one. I went with the split pea soup as that was mentioned quite a bit in other reviews and its an «okay» soup. Don’t assume any of the soups are vegetarian. you should ask. The eggplant sandwich is also mediocre. 3 stars for this place

Ehhhh, I had the split pea and it was ALL onions… like WAY too many onions. The guy who served me was nice though so that’s why they get 2 stars instead of one.

Tried savory combos. Chicken noodle soup & ½ panni turkey sandwich, it cost $ 8.19. Then I decided to splurge and get fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade. That resulted in a three star, without lemonade it would be a one star experience. The panni was just OK, soup was not hot, barely lukewarm. No flavor to the soup. My husband was kind and ate my soup, I stole his pad Thai instead!

Tried the split pea soup and it had bits of some kind of red meat in it. Was about to try the cream of potato soup my second time there, and noticed bits of red meat in it too. In this day and age, why do they not make it clear that their«vegetarian» soups have some meat in them? I would now not be surprised if they add meat broth in all their soups. Avoid soups if you are vegetarian or vegan and find a PCC instead! Other vegetarian food good:-)

This kiosk at the Crossroads food court has been around for a couple years, but I didn’t try it until yesterday. I wished I hadn’t. I ordered the Chicken Panini sandwich. As I waited for my order, the manager sampled each of their soups and had a faraway look in his eyes as he judged the flavors. I thought that was a good omen, that they cared about quality. I know that though the term«Panini» doesn’t dictate a specific kind of bread, the bread should be sturdy enough to withstand grilling. A slice of the bread they used in my sandwich was about as thick as a New York pizza crust. In other words the sandwich had to be eaten with a fork because it was flopping all over. Inside the sandwich was a little shop of horrors: cold slimy roasted red pepper, a tiny bit of chicken(but with plenty of gristle), a thin see-through semi-melted cheese… and lots and lots and lots of pungent green thyme. I figured that«Thyme» For Soup was just an attempt at a pun, and that they would have more finesse than to strangle their food with thyme. Oh silly naïve me! One of the worst sandwiches ever.

Went here w/my girl and gazed at the menu for a bit from a good distance so it was clear we weren’t ready to order. The girl who was working was having a Spanish cellphone conversation but whatever, we weren’t ready anyway. We decided and went up to the counter, which is the international sign for«take our order, please» and she continued her Spanish conversation for a good 30 seconds, which is nice since we’re American and have no idea if she’s talking about us, which she may have been since we were so inconvenient to her personal life. It gets better! To communicate to us that she’s ready to take our order, she leaves the phone on her ear and rotates the microphone-end away from her mouth. Don’t go out of your way Consuela! I have never loathed a service-person more. I hope she receives all the misfortune in life that a good person may otherwise have received… I had a ½ sand/salad combo with a lemonade and she had a full sandwich which totaled almost $ 20. Mine was average and hers was about a 3.5÷10, I’d say. Salad was salad. Maybe it’s good when others are working and one gets soup. I won’t be finding out.

Was in the mood for soup, and after noting that there weren’t too many Unilocal reviews, I decided to take one for the team. I ordered a Red Lentil Soup(16 oz), and the first thing the guy behind the counter does is take a slice of bread and put it in the panini thingie to heat it up. Right there, Thyme for Soup scores points with me(I have been at more upscale restaurants where I was given prepackaged crackers). Then again, if your business has the word«soup» in its title, maybe this is par for the course. The red lentil soup was thick and filling. I like my soups to be soothing(i.e., if it’s too spicy, it’s not a soup, it’s a dish) — and this was just that. At around six dollars, this is not exactly cheap soup, but I’ll still be back.

Time for soup! I like puns, good first impression. Mute Mexican man serving up our samples of soup, I don’t know about this… We charged ahead, despite our hesitation, and ordered the Roasted Red Pepper soup. Good thing we did, we were pleasantly surprised, it tasted great. We also liked the garlicy toast that came with it. A-ok, I’d have it again.

I’ve been looking for a great soup place ever since watching Seinfeld’s soup Nazi episode. This is not the place to go if you’re looking for good soup. Obviously«Thyme» is the main ingredient in their soups and somehow they all taste very similar. The chicken noodle needed more salt and less frozen vegetables. The white bean was an odd flavor combination(not sure how you can mess that one up). The others were similarly bland. The soup is not served with crackers but a bread infused with thyme. Interesting at best. They also serve salads and yet after the soup, I think I’ll stick to salads from somewhere else. It’s too bad they haven’t figured out the soup Nazi’s recipes!

Thyme for Soup is famous in my book for its hot fresh homemade chocolate chip cookies… even at $ 1 each, they are fantastic enough to earn my rave. They usually have six different homemade soups per day, at least half of them vegetarian. Despite the broad range, I guess I must be more«meh» about soup than I realize, because I always check out the choices with excitement but only maybe one or two times in ten find a soup that grabs me and requires purchase. Soups are available in a 12 oz. dinerware bowl for«here» orders, 16 and 24 oz to-go containers, and bread bowls which are homemade and probably also about 12 oz. The other day I had a Beef Chili Macaroni soup which was barely soup, it was so thick… and it was fantastic. Soup is served with a piece of bread, but you can also get sandwiches on panini bread or salads. The staff is friendly and the prices seem fair to a smidge high to me… but what restaurant HASN’T raised their prices in the last few months? It’s not outrageous.
