I’m surprised I am the first to review this! I attended the show(the 2007 one) yesterday, located in Woodinville. Part of the proceeds from this go to support«local charities serving children in need,» although no place at the event or on the front page of the website did I find out how much of my $ 18.00 ticket went toward this. This year’s show was on the outskirts Woodinville, probably on the edges of the King County lines. It was way out– it left us wondering who in their right mind would want to live out there, especially when they have to make it to work each day to make the mortgage payments on the 2 million dollar homes. Perhaps retired people or at-home working people, or those who work at one of the few business in the area could make it work. For commuters, it seems contrary to the«green» focus of the 2007 homes. Sure, the homes are low energy and green built. But with two cars per household each commuting a total of four hours per day… Kind of creates a bigger carbon footprint than was eliminated. Anyway, I get way off track. It was fun to see all the luxury finishes, take photos, and get ideas for home renovation and decoration projects. Most of the homes and one in particular(home 5) really focused on green design, or sustainable design. There were cool green home products I had never seen before, like hard surface counter tops that felt like stone but were actually made of recycled paper and resin. They had tiles made of this same material. They had low-flow toilets and faucets too. One of the showers was big enough to have about seven people in. Party shower… This is way more efficient, since a lot of people can get clean for the same amount of water as one. We liked all the homes, except the«Tuscan style» one. I can’t exactly take off a star for that, since it’s personal taste… This one(number 1) was an audacious gaudy monstrosity, complete with trump l’oeil murals, bejeweled handles on cabinetry, Vegas style gaudy faux-architectural detail, etc. It was really confusing, and felt like the interior designer’s main goal was to put the most ostentatious gilded items in the place– matching or not. Other than house 1 and the out of the way location, it was great Sunday. Transportation to and from the location(by bus) was quick and easy.
