Jessie’s Haute Cakes

Tried out a few different flavors of minis at the Kitsap Fair. The frosting to cake ratio was perfect (which is actually quite difficult to do, I’m usually over-​frosting-​ed and left with a toothache).
My kiddos LOVED their chocolate and vanilla options. What can I say, they’re kids and never very adventurous!
I tried a lemon variety and it was amazing. The right tangy to sweet balance. Not too tart, not too sickeningly sweet. Frosting was light and fluffy. Cake wasn’t too moist. Was perfectly crumby but didn’t fall apart under the weight of the topping. Tasted like a perfect glass of lemonade on a summer evening. Which it was, so that worked out really well.
And they must have been popular because they were nearly sold out of quite a few other flavors.
Would absolutely eat again, would recommend to others.

Gosh, I hate to be THAT person to write a negative first review, but I just tried the worst cupCAKE ever. Emphasis on the cake as the bad part, I’ve had worse frosting. (Well I did eat a week old cupcake that was a tad worse, but that shouldn’t count.) I tried sooooo hard to tell myself, «nah, let it slide» but I just can’t stop thinking about it!
I spent just over $ 3 for a small-​ish (smaller than Cupcake Royale or Trophies, comparable to Pinkabella’s in size) vanilla nutella cupcake at the Kirkland farmer’s market. Solid nutella-​infused frosting with a dry vanilla cake filled with nutella. DRY. The cake was sooooooooo dry. Not an drop of moisture. Disappointing. The texture was crumbly and almost like a dry biscuit? I wonder if I’ve adequately conveyed that the cake was dry…
I really wanted to like it, the flavor combination was promising, and it looked great, but what does that matter when the taste suffers?
If I were 100% honest, this would be a 2 star review, but I just can’t. They seemed like nice people. I guess try it for yourself and let me know when things have changed? I’m so conflicted!

Jessie made some custom cupcakes for my daughter’s 4^th birthday party and they were FABULOUS! I consider myself a bit of a foodie and the taste was perfect. I was most surprised at how yummy the fondant decorations were… not like the rubbery ones I’ve gotten elsewhere. I highly recommend her to anyone. She’s super talented and exceptionally reasonable. Thanks Jessie! I’ll be using you again! :-)
