The experience and service is absolutely horrible. When I first entered the place, there was an older lady who basically stared at me without greeting me or saying anything. I smiled and awkwardly waited to see if there was a server or hostess who would sit me down. A younger lady finally came around and didn’t even acknowledge me in any way even after making eye contact. Finally she looks at me and says«upstairs» and points up to it while walking away to another table. I seat myself and wait for service. After about 18 minutes, i peer down the stairs to see what’s going on. Isee the server and she’s just there standing at the counter. She looks up and finally makes eye contact with me. She then turns towards the kitchen and there’s some dialogue going on and couple minutes later, the bus boy comes up to hand me menus and walks away. At this point i’m annoyed. Did the server have something against me? The bus boy definitely did not seem to know what he was doing as a server/waiter and seemed really nervous and unsure of he was supposed to do. Few minutes later the bus boy brings me a water and takes my order. I had questions about the menu, but at this point i wasn’t i just wanted to order. The bus boy was still wearing his blue latex cleaning gloves as he took my order. He comes back with the wine and bread and he’s still wearing the blue latex cleaning gloves and now I notice that there’s holes in them. The butter they served was literally a cut section from a cold hard stick of butter. To add insult to injury, the bread was extremely stale and tasted like it had been left out since that morning. I was extremely disappointed with the experience and the food so far at this point. The bus boy brought out the appetizer i ordered, which was the garlic pancakes. Again. He served it still wearing his blue latex cleaning gloves with the holes in it. At this point, i about had enough but bit my lip and just let it go. The garlic pancakes were pleasantly crispy and chewy and had nice flavor. After the stale bread, i expected worse. While enjoying the pancakes, a young couple is seated in the balcony next to me. This time, the female server actually greets them and brings them their menus and goes over the specials with them. Gee, would have been great if i had known about the specials. Wish someone would have told me… I finally get the chicken montenegro i ordered and while tasty, I was annoyed with the whole experience that I just wanted to finish this review and eat my entrée and leave. Dont’t think I’ll ever be coming back after this experience.

This restaurant is interesting, to say the least. The outdoor seating is nice but some of the décor could use touch up. The staff is… interesting to say the least. The main guy kind of reminds me of a depressed Igor from Adams Family. Very very serious guy. My boyfriend and I got the mozzarella tomato appetizer as well as the potato pancakes. The potato pancakes were probably the best item of the night, actually. They’re pretty big and the flavor is good. The entrees were a little bit problematic. My boyfriend was promised that the goulash stew would be excellent with super tender meat but when we got the dish, the meat was really tough. We got chicken paprikash to replace it but unfortunately they still charged us for the dish… The chicken dish was a lot better(the paprika sauce was nice) but probably not worth $ 20. I got the chicken marsala. They paired it with spaghetti and the spaghetti was a bit plain. The chicken was cooked nicely though. The food is really expensive for the quality you get. I don’t know if we will be rushing to come back anytime soon.

Came Sat. Night. We sat outside and were seated promptly. We had the beef goulash and the Bratwurst. Both were good.

We waited a long time to get served. There was a lovely water fall outside near our table that was very relaxing. I had the Hungarian goulash and it was very good. My husband had the Brat worst and that was also good. The wine list was lacking but they had some nice beers. All in all I would recommend it.

Came here with a coupon for five course prefix dinner for two. Wow, the the mixed green salad was amazing! Goulash was so yummy! Spaghetti carbonara was really rich and creamy topped with lots and lots of yummy bacon. Their house red had a smooth taste. Minus one star for having to spend at least $ 30 Over the already paid amount for coupon.

Serviced sucked… alot. We should of went with out our gut when only 3 tables were being occupied on both floors combined… on a Friday night… at 7:30pm. Our lamb we ate should be ashamed of himself, he tasted horrible:(We will not be back… btw it advertises German/Italian though the Menu is like the UN, though only 2 choices from each country and most of it lacking the key ingredients it requires. Oh well!

A big disappointment! We have walked passed this place many times, because something just didin’t seem right. probably because it was usually empty… now i know why. The menu is a combo of German, Italian and Hungarian food… it sounded exciting, but it tasted terrible. I waited 45 minutes for the Bratwurst.. The deep flavors of the bratwurst were lost somewhere during the preparation process. The Jäger Schnitzel didn’t have a lot of flavor. The red cabbage and potato were also very bland. Our bill was almost $ 100.00. Next time I will travel over Stevens Pass and spend it on a REAL German meal like one you would get at Café Mozart in Leavenworth.

First visit here. We had an Entertainment Book $ 15 coupon to use(need to order 2 entrees and 2 beverages). Nice quiet restaurant atmosphere with an upstairs seating. The chicken patrikash and goulash was delicious. Customer service was fast and friendly. Bill was $ 48 with two diet cokes before our coupon. Free parking in building or street parking.

First time here. Food is soooo nice! It’s my wife’s birthday and we’re thinking of somewhere different and this Hungarian restaurant just jumped out of Unilocal so we decided to give it a try. Believe me, we’re blown away by the delicious food! I had a Jäger Schnitzel and my wife ordered a Beef Goulash and they’re just so tasty. The pork of the schnitzel is soft and juicy and thin and spongy. Yes, thin and spongy. I don’t know how they achieve that but it’s just that so easy to chew. I had some schnitzel elsewhere but this one is definitely top notched! Beef Goulash is also best in the class. The beef clod is at bite size and cooked through. The potato is chopped at the same size as beef and the correct level of softness. Not too soft but very easy to smash using you spoon with a casual press.

Stumbled upon this restaurant after driving around Bellevue for a minute, looking for a place to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. The fusion looked interesting so I decided to give it a shot. I was seated promptly, they took my drink order right away, got me started with a delicious caesar salad and bread(my only complaint the entire night was that the butter was too cold!), and I ordered the Chicken Montenegro chicken breast with grilled and coated in garlic potato pancakes. I was sold… The waiter, Lebor, was awesome and recommended this dish as one of his favorites. I had been at two very expensive Tom Douglas restaurants during my stay(Cuoco and Lola) and let me tell you, Danube’s Chicken Montenegro blew the other meals out of the water. It was uniquely flavorful and the potato/vegetable side was cooked to perfection. The breading on the chicken was seasoned perfectly and had just the right amount of crispiness. The paprika + tomato based sauce was delicious. I.Ate.Every.Bite…And it wasn’t a small meal. The waiter was friendly but not intrusive — I was in the middle of a book I wanted to devour in conjunction with my food and he left me alone but attended to me and was personable. Those who came here who didn’t have a good experience, I’d say give it a shot and order something non-traditional, it was really a fabulous experience and the service felt very European – casual, not rushed. The other restaurants I went to in Seattle seemed so overpriced for the portion size and quality but Denube was an absolutely delightful, filling meal. I will visit again and again!

I’ve been here multiple times and the food is always fantastic. It’s good, authentic European comfort food. I love the jagerschnitzel and mushroom ravioli. The red cabbage is amazing and I’m not usually a fan of red cabbage. The atmosphere is cozy inside and there is a patio for nice days. My only complaint would be that the service can be slow when this small restaurant is crowded. However, this will not prevent me from continuing to go back. This is a great, authentic, non-commercial restaurant, which can be hard to find on the eastside.

Was so happy to find a place where I could have a Schnitzel. We went there for my son’s birthday. Both he and his wife had the Jaegerschnitzel and I had the«Wienerschnitzel». They were fairly happy with the Jaegerschnizel and liked the sauce. My «Wienerschnitzel» was just terrible. It was paperthin for one and the breading was what I tasted most. The breading tasted like ground stale bread which I guess it was. The Spaetzle side was overcooked and nobody liked it. My husband had the Bratwurst which was fine. The only complaint he had was that the salad was very sour – too much vinegar. For $ 7 for a green salad it should have been great. The whole meal without beverages for 4 was $ 96 and I regretted every penny of it. Maybe the italian fare is ok there but we will never go back there again. I left half of my Schnitzel on the plate and told the waiter that I didn’t like it when he asked if I was still working on it. He said I should have told him earlier when he asked if everything was ok. When he asked I hadn’t even touched the Schnitzel so that was just rude.

Walking in from the garage was a little awkward but it’s okay since it’s better than getting wet by having to go all the way around the building. It was a late lunch for us(around 2pm) so the place was empty, one person was leaving as we sat down. The server was very nice though she didn’t speak much english it seemed. We communicated just fine and ordered our food. We ordered the potato pancake appetizer and it was crunchy and delicious. The food was delicious, we ordered the chicken paprikash and the spaghetti carbonara. They were both good and came out really quickly. It was just the right amount of food and while the prices are a little on the expensive side we had a prime card discount. With the discount I felt it was worth it for the food and atmosphere. I’m sure if we came at a normal hour it would have been even nicer and more enjoyable. We’ll have to come back for dinner and see.

I really liked this place! Like… a lot! My mom bought me a LivingSocial deal which took $ 25 off our bill, which I’m glad she did, because my only qualm about this place is that it was a tad too expensive in my opinion. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer($ 8.50) which was PHENOMENAL. I couldn’t stop shoveling it down as I tasted the crunchiness, saltiness, and creaminess that coupled with the aioli they provided. Wow oh wow. I am a huge calamari snob too, so this was a big deal to me. Absolutely wonderful. I would come back just to get the calamari again. For entrees, I got the spaghetti carbonara which was also very delicious. I had never had carbonara before and read the menu for it’s ingredients: cream, bacon, pecorino cheese, egg yolk, and white pasta. Talk about decadence. When they served the plate, it was dusted with fresh herbs… definitely not something I was expecting from a cute Bellevue bistro. Overall, the bill came to about $ 46-$ 25livingsocial coupon so it was fine for an appetizer and two entrees. The staff was really hustling too. It seemed like they were constantly helping another customer and making sure everything was ready and fresh. They must have done something about the service because I thought it was great.

I’ve only been here once and can only really comment on the two dishes I had. I came during lunch. VERY fast — although it was not busy — fast enough for folks with short lunch breaks(30−60min). We finished eating within 40 minutes and had enough time for coffee post-meal. The two dishes were the Lasagne and the Spaghetti Bolognese. The Spaghetti Bolognese is their Spaghetti with our homemade meat sauce, made of beef, onions, carrots, and tomatoes simmered. This was very good. Meaty and not acidic. Properly cooked — sauteed in the sauce to finish. They don’t list it but i’m pretty sure there’s garlic in this. This would be a 4.5 star The Lasagne was okay. Flavors are excellent but the pasta failed to satisfy. It was al dente, too al dente for me. almost dry on some parts, including the middle layers. Sauce was meaty and not acidic as well which was pretty much the only redeeming factor. This would get a 2.5−3 stars. They serve their meals with a sourdough which I wasn’t a fan of. This was pretty dry and a little on the hard side. They do serve with soften butter(straight butter). Plating for the pastas resembles those of a higher class restaurant. Coffee — well brewed. Dark in color but not dark in taste, not bitter and not overtly strong. Creamer had a hard time lightening it lol. Environment — clean — white cloth. Small and intimate. Parking within the condo complex. Service was good but awkward — in the I’m trying to hard manner — which is good in some respects. Better to try to have good service then to not give a crap. Service would be a 4 star. Overall this would be a 3.5 star. I’d go back for sure to try other dishes.

Excellent food. Try the Beef goulash or the Chicken paprikash. They were also able to do a good job with some unusual requests from our group — a spicy pasta for one. I only dock a star because the manager/server was very slow and standoffish. He turned out to be funny toward the end but also unavailable and arrogant which got us a bit aggravated.

Inconsistent service and food… Parking: free parking in the Avalon Apt building — restaurant has an entrance from the garage Ambiance: Quaint little place with Christmas lights. Fake ivy lining the iron wrought fence out on the patio, non-functioning fountain. I think they’re trying to go for a classy, romantic look. Service: Went here a couple of times and both times the waiter was nice but seemed more interested in chatting with friends. Food: Garlic potato pancakes were so-so — best eaten right when they come out. They weren’t terribly greasy so that’s a plus. Hubby ordered the goulash — the bread was good, the goulash tasted suspiciously like Dinty Moore. I picked the mushroom ravioli which was the best I have ever had in my entire life! When we went there again I picked the same ravioli but this time it was extremely under-cooked and lacked the flavor it did the first time. Hubby picked the bratwurst w/sour kraut & red cabbage and potatoes. The roasted potatoes were very good, we ate the kraut & cabbage because we were hungry. The bratwurst… hubby compared it to Costco sausage. Recommendation: Cute little place — can be great sometimes, or not. Prices a little high but okay deal if you use or sometimes they have coupons on their website.

Boyfriend’s relatives treated us to dinner here for a post-Christmas celebration. Through his uncle’s words, this place«has good food but bad service.» There was only one waitress to serve the entire restaurant, and she’s the owner along with her husband. She was very friendly but forgot to bring us bread… We ordered table wine, and she forgot to bring it as well. I ordered the chicken montenegro, and boyfriend ordered the spaghetti alla carbonara. The relatives all ordered beef goulash, though I didn’t get to try any. My entrée was good, though what I really liked about it was the roasted potatoes on the side and the potato pancake thing on top of the chicken. The chicken itself was kind of dry, though the sauce was pretty tasty. The spaghetti was tasty as well, but for 16 bucks, totally not worth it since the portion is small. Honestly, I was not impressed by the food nor the service, though the experience wasn’t so bad. I have mixed feelings about this place, so an «okay» rating would suffice.

Microsoft Prime 2009 – 2010 Ambiance: 2 Food: 2 Value: 2 Disappointing. Maybe due to the exotic nature of the food, you’re going to either love it or hate it. We didn’t particularly care for it. Our dishes tasted sour and the meat didn’t taste very fresh. The portions were quite small for the price. All in all, not very pleasant.

2÷11÷2011 My girlfriend & I came back here because she bought a $ 50 Groupon to Danube Bistro. This time we ordered the Calamari appetizer, which was decent but nothing special. I then ordered the Beef Stroganoff while she ordered the Chicken Montenegro. Presentation was beautiful for both dishes(see photos), but the flavors were just average. In fact, in the case of the Chicken Montenegro the«…white wine creamy sauce…» had more of an orange, tangy quality to it that really distracted from things. In the case of the Beef Stroganoff, the«…sauce of seasoned sautéed mushrooms, onions, sour cream and dill…» just didn’t hit the mark. We agreed that the best part of both dishes were the side veggies, which were fully immersed in melted butter. One suggestion — the aioli sauce that comes with the Calamari should be included with the dishes that include potatoes. For the price, the food should have been much better. Would downgrade to a 2-star, but the ambiance is nice and the service is decent so they get a 3-star. ====================================================== 8÷1÷2009 My girlfriend & I were in the mood for an «old country» dinner last night, and Danube Bistro turned out to be a good choice. Since it was a balmy summer night, we chose to sit outside by the fountain. We split a ‘Bramborak” garlic potato pancake dish, which was crispy and delicious. We then ordered Chicken Paprikash & Beef Goulash, and ate off each other’s plate. The Chicken dish could’ve used a bit more seasoning but was otherwise quite good, while the beef dish was a bit salty, but otherwise very tasty. We then capped our meal by splitting an apricot crêpe dish for dessert. BTW — if you order this dessert yourself, be sure to ask them NOT to drizzle any chocolate sauce on it, or to put it on the side. This is one dish that, believe it or not, doesn’t benefit from chocolate. Although a little pricey, we would both gladly go back and intend to soon to sample some other dishes. If you’re looking for authentic Eurofare in the Seattle area, Danube Bistro is an excellent choice!
