We left NW Asthma and Allergy in Redmond because of the office staff that I thought was rude and unhelpful. We love Allergy and Asthma Associates after our first visit. The staff was friendly. Dr. Dooms was great with my children and very knowledgable. He seems very on top of new developments in allergies.

I’ve had asthma and allergies literally all of my life. Technology and medications have improved an incredible amount over the past 45 years, but that doesn’t mean a thing if you can’t connect to it through an allergist who takes a complete history, uses modern exam and testing techniques, and who LISTENS to you. Dr. Dooms has the best name of any doctor around here(want to guess why he’s not a surgeon?) and more importantly, he’s got extensive expertise. I think it’s finally happened… I’m old enough to have a well-qualified doctor who is younger than me… but I’m not holding it against him. I’ve done one round of allergy shots against the five major species of stinging insects in WA, honeybees, and the common environmental allergens that I suffer from. I just hit maintenance dosing a few weeks ago, and instead of suffering deeply throughout the day during the spring pollen season, so far, I’ve needed exactly ONE Zyrtec. What an awesome change! The practice now has three allergists and that means you can get appointments quickly. I love that… I’m tired of waiting 10 weeks for an appointment with a specialist. If you go in for allergy shots, you’ll be greeted right away and then you’ll be done in minutes. I usually hate having to deal with medical-office billing, especially when that person is not co-located with the doctors, but our insurance changed at the start of the year, I talked to her on the phone, and she resubmitted our visits to the new insurance without any bad attitude or hassle. SUCH a nice change from some of the pediatricians we’ve seen in the past for the kids. I wish they did whole-body checkups… I need to find a new GP and I’m dreading it.

Background: I have allergies and asthma and since moving to Seattle decided to get Allergy shots. I started out at NW Asthma and Allergy — which is a giant allergy org of docs that is throughout Washington State. After having a bad experience there I moved to Allergy & Asthma Associates. I found the doctors friendly and informative, there reception area was filled with great magazines which is nice when you are getting weekly shots. They always treated me quickly and let me «self monitor» a lot more vs NW Asthma and Allergy which set a time and would make me check in before I left. At this point in my life, I liked having the option to come and go when I please, and just follow up w/the nurse if necesary. Pros: Flexible shot hours, Friendly staff, clean reception, same-week appointments Cons: Was not informed when my insurance stopped covering the shots fully and got a bill in the mail. Late lunch hours, closed for shots during lunch Overall, great! I would strongly recommend over NW Asthma and Allergy

Friendly reception and promptly seen by the doctor, but I came here for asthma related symptoms and somehow ended up with a total allergy work up. The doctor was challenging when I told him about a condition that I had which he was unfamiliar with, and then he spent a lot of time demonstrating his medical prowess about asthma… despite addressing my primary concern. I decided not to return to the practice. It’s too far given the experience.
