Nice little place. Delightful music and the cappuccino X pastel de guayava mix is BOMB! Only thing I didn’t like was the $ 10 minimum to use a card. Had to look around and buy things I didn’t go to get. But everything was delicious anyway. Will definitely come back.

Delicious tres leches cake! Very authentic. It was a huge hit. The small is perfect for 6 – 8 servings. The owner was extremely helpful and they even personalized the cake. The magic candles gave us a big laugh. We truly loved it and I will order again. Thank you!

The food is good, but the service is not that good when the owners are not there. Took them 20 minutes to make a cuban sandwich and the coffe tasteless more milk than coffee. If you want to keep up, you should have good service all the time. There’s a lot of competition, 3 lights down the street.

Very affordable, clean, cute café. They have upbeat Latin music playing in the background which helps set the vibe. Free wifi. I ordered the guava pastry, croquette, and the tres leches dessert. The guava pastry filling was perfect — not too sweet, just enough sour, and it actually tasted like guava! The pastry was a little thick/dry(not necessarily dry — it was just so layered at the ends and didn’t have the filling to balance it out. For 1.25 it’s a steal. The croquette was 1.50 and the ground meat filling was very tasty — this thing was huge. The tres leches cake was sweet, but everything you’d want out of a dessert. The cake part had the consistency of dried cornbread or a cornmeal cake, but it works very well because it soaks up the condensed milk sauce without getting soggy. Can’t wait to try their coffee and sandwiches next. Definitely will be my weekend study spot.

Love this place, from the sandwiches to the bon bons… excellent. I do wish they had more variety of pastries or mini cakes. Also more bread available in the afternoon. Their rice pudding can definitely improve. Flan is to die for and so is there coconut bread pudding, delicious! The sandwiches take a little long to make, which is whynis better to call ahead, but sometimes the order isn’t even ready when you arrive. The staff is very polite and pleasant with the exception of the Cuban older lady, she can use a smile :).

This is one of my favorite new places to visit. There breads pastries and coffee are all delicious and fresh every day. Their Cuban sandwich is outstanding and their medianoche is equally as great. Their signature cortaditos bon bon is spectacular.

I’m Cuban-Anerican from Miami-that’s like, a Cuban borough. This is vital information because it means I am a Cuban bakery elitist. After living in NJ for 10 months and desperately seeking a good Cuban bakery which run rampant back home, I FINALLY discovered this place. I’ve seen bakeries advertised as Cuban here, only to find southern Americans behind the counters and the baked goods just being all kinds of wrong. Several disappointments. Upon walking into Cortaditos, the music is right, the smell is right and the woman behind the counter spoke Spanish to me in my beloved Cuban accent! They have pasteles de guayaba, guayaba con queso, y de coco. They’re authentic. They have croquetas de jamon which aren’t as great as back home but still pretty darn good. Finally, they actually sell Cuban bread-REAL Cuban bread, the baked loaf with the correct crisp exterior and soft, soul-soothing soft inside! They even had cubiertas which are my fav childhood pastry. I was so overjoyed, I practically wept at the counter! My only gripe-it’s a little pricier than I’m used to. Let’s talk about their flan. I am not a huge fan of flan-gasp, I know, I know. However, I do try it at certain places I know I like. I wasn’t disappointed here. It’s amazing. It’s more solid than other flans, which I love. The consistency is firm and the sweetness isn’t overwhelming, the caramelized syrup is perfect. They have the plain and coco-both are WOW. On my last visit, I met the man who makes the food. It was a wonderful, missed exchange that felt like hugging my roots. Love this place and will continue to frequent when I need a little taste of home.

Omg, love this place. Their cortaditos, bon bon and coquito, and café con leche are amazing. The Cuban sandwiches are also good, I always ask for it extra hot to make sure the cheese is melted properly. Their guave and cheese pastries are delicious as are the empanadas. I wish their location was more convenient so I can grab it on my way to work/school but I guess I can’t have it all. Until they open up a second location(wishful thinking) I will gladly go out of my way for a cortadito bon-bon :)

Absolutely HORRENDOUS service! It’s like you have to beg for the hostess/waitress to take your orders, without there even being a long line! Why do you have to shout your order like an animal? If your customer is coming in, they probably have the intention of eating here –TAKETHEIRORDER! ABSOLUTELYDONOTRECOMMENDTOANYONEINTHEAREA– bad service & poor selection of baked goods– very limited especially for a shop that is promoting sweet goods. It absolutely lacks!

They have the best sweets especially the chocolate éclair! The owner one day recommended something cool to eat that was similar to an éclair with the filling, but the outside was a crispy flaky pastry. uuumm good. The cuban sandwich is sooooo good with a crispy, flat, fresh bread pressed by panini machine with a decent amount of meat, cheese, mustard and pickles. I have to mention the coffee is nice and hot and you will burn your tongue if u drink it immediately after its poured, so take your time sipping it. This place is made for people with a sweet tooth or a savory tooth or both. You definitely have the best of both worlds. Also the prices are reasonable. Just a tip: best to go when not so busy and prefer to go when the grown staff and owner are there

OMG I wish this place could be open after hours when I’m usually craving sweets… Been here a couple of times and every time has been a pleasant experience… They have a bunch of fresh pastries and every single one is delicioso … I decided on the 3 leches cake and it was so good the extra 30 minutes at the gym was well worth it.

This place is a true Latin bakery. Clean, quaint little place located in the middle of Belleville. Prices are extremely affordable for some amazing baked goods. Must have: Tres Leche, Rice Pudding, and Guava Pastry! OMG the best I’ve ever had. I purchased 4 baked goods and 1 snapple for a total o $ 9.65. The pastries were so amazing, I wouldn’t mind paying more. Heaven in every bite. I have found a new place to pick up dessert. I’d recommend anyone here…

Came for the Cuban Sandwich about 6PM based on Unilocal review. Maybe it was the time of day but I was very disappointed. While there were elements of some great flavor and a lot of meat, the freshly cooked pork was very very dry. A review I read said it was juicy but mine was far from it. As I said, maybe it was because it was late in the day and meat was not in a juice of some sort. I actually started to hiccup as I usually do when consuming very very dry food. The real problem here is that there may be some inconsistency in the execution. On the plus side, their coffee, «Cortadito», is very good.

Clean and awesome little Cuban bakery! On separate occasions I ordered a chicken empanada and a Pollo Loco chicken sandwich. The empanada I must admit wasn’t what I expected. I found it to be simple and underwhelming. The Pollo Loco sandwich, however, was hot, fresh and pure deliciousness. I’m not going to lie, I lack a bit patience so when my chicken sandwich order took a while to make(approximately 10 minutes), I began diving headfirst into a pool of opinions. I was REALLYHUNGRY! Thankfully Sweets knows how to make a great sandwich. The cheese was gooey yet its consistency held up well. The chicken tasted fresh and the bread was wonderfully pressed and toasted. For its portion, this sandwich didn’t break the bank and left my belly full and taste buds satisfied. Sweets has quickly become my new spot for a weekend breakfast/lunch delight!

Coconut cupcake and cappuccino! That’s pretty much all I can say! The coconut cupcake here is AMAZING… If you have a sweet tooth and love for coconut, then this cupcake will be heavenly! *** they sell out fast *** you’ve been warned =)(if always stocked this would have been 5 stars) Maybe sweets aren’t your thing. No problem! Their Cuban pressed sandwiches are awesome! I personally love the Cuban sandwich, but my second fav is the chipotle chicken sandwich. Will definitely be back. I’m pro support for mom & pop businesses. The staff is awesome =)

I’m always on the lookout for a place I can get a reliable Cuban sandwich, so when I say this place I made the trek out to Belleville to give it a go. Overall, I was not impressed. All the rave reviews set me up for something magnificent, when I can only say that everything was merely okay. The storefront itself is very nice, as is the interior. Its clean, spacious, and new looking. It’s set up like a café, with a bakery counter and several small tables. The decorations add a nice touch, it feels like a Miami café. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and all the sandwiches are made fresh as you order them. They also have a bread area with fresh Cuban bread and rolls, which a seriously difficult thing to find in my area. I couldn’t resist snagging the last loaf for some in-car snacking. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and cortadito with 2 sugars to eat there, and a guava and cheese pastry and rice pudding to enjoy later. Unfortunately, despite all the great stuff present, the Cuban sandwich and the guava and cheese pastry were underwhelming and the rice pudding was pretty standard. The sandwich was very dry due to being overstuffed with shredded pork. There wasn’t enough fat in the pork to moisten it, and the cheese and mustard were insufficient to make up for the dryness. Normally, overstuffed sandwiches are a good thing, but this proved to be the exception. While the guava and cheese pastry had a delicious, flaky crust the interior was about 70% air. Boo. What filling was present was very good, I just wish there were more of it. The rice pudding was good but unmemorable, I wouldn’t order it again. Not worth the hike for me, if I lived a lot closer I might frequent there for a cortadito and to pick up some fresh bread. The other food doesn’t justify a 30 minute drive.

«I’m in love, I’m in love, and I don’t care who knows it!» Clean, open welcoming space, great music, a variety of sandwiches and pastries(and delicious ones at that) and the ABSOLUTEBESTCAFECONLECHEEVER. I guess that makes me a fan. Named for its two signature menu offerings, Sweets & Cortaditos delivers on both. The pastry case is full of freshly made cakes and pasteles(pastries). I love that Cuban food crosses the savory/sweet line for desserts and meals. Cuban or guava and cheese sandwiches for lunch? Chorizo or guava empanadas for dessert? Sign me up for any of them. The guava and cheese pastry was out of this world. Flaky layers of puff pastry/phyllo dough surrounding a thick smear of guava paste and cheese. This is the first time I’ve had a dessert like this and the cheese wasn’t sweetened. What a winning idea! The sweet, salty, creamy, tart all balance each other perfectly. I tried to savor it slowly, but alas my eager taste buds got the better of me. As mentioned the café con leche is beautiful, but I must also point out the three types of cortaditos. A standard cortadito is a shot of espresso with a touch of milk(strong coffee lovers). The cortadito bon bon adds condensed milk(sweets lovers). The cortadito coquito includes coconut milk(coconut and exotic taste lovers). I’m fairly certain any one would be a good choice. **I’m holding out for star 5 until I try a savory sandwich(definitely a Cuban) and can be assured they deliver meals and pastries equally well. Alas for me on a Friday in lent, I have to pass on meat today; however, I suspect once I sink my teeth in, the 5th star will promptly appear.

I love this place! I came here for lunch once and since then I have been back here an in numeral amount of times. There hot chocolate is serious, I try to grab it whenever I get the chance it has a nice soft flavor that I really like about it. The café con leche is equally as good, and I do not like to drink coffee but I will drink theirs. The Cuban sandwich, the turkey and cheese both were delicious: but for what makes them stand out is their midnight sandwich. The bread is sweet and it tastes wonderful with any sandwich combination that is picked. I also had their bread pudding, which was good, it did not contain an overwhelming sweetness but rather it was just right. But it’s their midnight sandwiches that keep calling me back lol *Oh! There empanadas are pretty good too, I only once were they a bit too greasy, but it was just an off day they were consistently good every time I’ve ordered since then.
